"Inverloch Empire is very famous for its expansionist policy. This empire was once a part of a short-lived Paign Empire. After a prolonged civil war, the Paign Empire shattered into pieces. It was an inevitable development."

Sarika looked at the meek-looking boy sitting opposite her. The boy was concentrating on taking notes. Only the scratching sound of the pen was heard.

Realizing a sudden silence, the boy looks up and meets Sarika's gaze.

As if he understands what her gaze means, the boy nods his head to indicate that he is still following her explanation.

Sarika continues, "The collapse of Paign left a hole of power in the region. Many noble families want to take this opportunity to rise higher. Most of them have the same idea of establishing their own nation. And because nobody is willing to give up, bloodshed is bound to occur. During this period, countless noble families perish to the point where it is no longer shocking to hear the entire bloodline disappear overnight."

The boy couldn't help but sigh. He then let out his thought, "Why would they care so much about status? Is it worth it to endanger your entire dynasty for more wealth? Shouldn't they have enough wealth? Even without participating in this bloody battle royale, they can still live in luxury."

"Greed, Adam," Sarika replied. "Human greed is boundless. We are a creature that wants more and more. Barlia is not an exception either."

The invasion of the southern land is a prove of Barlia's greed and she was the one who led it.

Adam listened to Sarika's words with a heavy heart. Her words struck a chord within him.

His grandfather's recent action seems to mirror perfectly the nobles in the story.

It was no secret to Adam that his grandfather intended to protect him from being abused by the Klovers. Johann realizes that he is already old and can't continue to be a shield to protect Adam forever.

Only by having power can Adam deter people with ill intentions from taking any action.

He is grateful that Johann acknowledges him as his grandson and takes him in. Despite all the doubts and the lack of evidence, Johann never treats him badly.

However, Adam never harbours any idea of becoming a duke. He believed the position rightfully belonged to Sarika who he considered as his sister. Regardless of the situation, Adam will not repay her kindness by snatching away her position.

Instead, the boy plans to leave this estate and cut his ties with Klover once Johann passes away. He never thought of himself as a part of Klover. Also, the Klover never treats him as one of them.

Therefore, there's no point in staying in this place. It's better to live happily as a nobody.

But Johann thought his grandson was naive. Adam is simply unaware of the extent a noble family would go to clean up the tarnished reputation. Once the news of Adam's departure becomes well-known, it would be a miracle if Adam can survive until the next week.

"Well, don't feel too bad about it." Han Jester interjected. He was also present.

Currently, Adam Klover is having a night class on the topic of politics. How could Han not be there when he was the one supposedly giving the lesson as Adam's tutor?

But, because his knowledge was not as rich as Sarika's and his experience was basically non-existent, he happily handed over the task of teaching Adam to her.

Since they are talking about politics, naturally the focus is on the biggest event in recent times— the peace deal between the Inverloch Empire and Inver.

It becomes a good choice for their discussion.

To ensure Adam truly understands the dynamics of these two nations, Sarika first took the liberty to explain the history of these two nations and how they came into existence.

The class continued until the clock struck midnight. For Adam, night class had become a familiar part of his daily routine.

Looking at the bright sight, his schedule is pretty flexible. Sometimes he had class during the day and sometimes during the night. As Adam didn't have much to do on a daily basis, he had no complaints.

During the day, Han Jester mostly did the job. However, certain subjects are best left to the expert. And since Sarika is busy during the day, she could only teach during the night.

Only two of them are responsible for teaching Adam. There isn't much Johann can do. Nobody is willing to teach his grandson.

Although Johann was displeased, he didn't forbid Sarika from coming to his residence. She was indeed his political opponent but because she brought benefit to his grandson, Johann is willing to turn blind eyes on this one.

"That's it for today. I will be busy tomorrow so there will be no class," Sarika announced as she brought the night class to a close.

"Woohooo!" Adam shouts, raising both of his hands in the air.

But Sarika quickly poured cold water on Adam's excitement. "Do a review on today's lesson. I will ask you questions in the next class."

"Okay," Adam flatly replied.

Sarika doesn't plan to stay there much longer. As she prepared to leave, she took the opportunity to ask one question that had been on her mind.

"Where's your grandfather? I didn't see a glance of him recently."

Normally, Johann would watch them in secret. As a person who had undergone military training, how could Sarika not sense a gaze on her? Just how worried is he of his grandson? 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Sarika couldn't understand Johann's thought process. If she going to harm Adam, she will pick a better time and place.

Sarika simply ignored his existence for the most part.

"He's going somewhere, but I don't know where. He didn't tell me." Adam answered.

"I see," Sarika didn't say much after getting the answer and making her exit. "Take care and have a good night."

"You too, have a good night."
