Restart:Untalented Man-Chapter 455: Uproar At Klover Estate
News about Adam's death spread to every corner of Klover estate like a plague. In a place with no modern communication devices, the speed of news transmission is abnormally fast.
Although many people in the estate don't like the kid, his death happens so suddenly. None of them likes the way Adam died.
At the duke's mansion, Percival starts his morning with breakfast as usual. The clinking of silverware against the plate echoed in the dining hall.
However, the peaceful atmosphere was abruptly interrupted by the butler who burst into the room. "Your Grace, there's big news!"
Duke Percival looked up, "What news?"
"It's Adam Klover, Your Grace. He... he was found dead this morning!"
Upon hearing the shocking news, Duke Percival simply couldn't believe it. "Found dead?"
"Yes, Your Grace," the butler confirmed. He began recounting all the details of this event.
He got the news directly from the servants who went to Adam's room this morning. As such, there is no falsehood or exaggeration in the information he received.
Duke Percival fell into deep silence. His thoughts swirled with many questions. Adam's death will bring some change to the estate. It is just he wasn't sure if it was good or bad.
"Butler, go and call Sarika for me," the duke finally opened his mouth.
Shortly after, Sarika arrived at the dining hall. She was curious as to why her father called her in the morning. Moreover, she also noticed a heavy atmosphere when she stepped foot inside the hall.
"Is there a big announcement you want to make?" she asked.
Ignoring her question, Duke Percival asked first, "Is there anything you found suspicious in Adam's room last night?"
Sarika was genuinely surprised when her father asked about Adam. Duke Percival never touched this topic. Nevertheless, she still answered his question. "No, everything looks normal. Why?"
The duke sighed heavily, "Sarika, please be prepared for what I'm about to tell you."
Okay..." Sarika replied cautiously. Why does her father look so serious?
"Adam was found dead this morning," Duke Percival uttered the words with a heavy heart, knowing that they would bring anguish to his daughter.
Sarika feels a tumultuous storm of emotions erupts in her heart. Surprise, sorrow, and anger are fighting for dominance. At first, Sarika thought that she misheard her father. Or maybe her ears were playing tricks on her.
But when she looked into the serious expressions of her father and the butler, Sarika knew that they were not joking.
"I'm going to Johann's mansion," she said before rushing out of the dining hall.
Duke Percival silently watched Sarika strode out of the hall. He didn't hold her back or utter a word. He also plans to go to Johann's mansion later to take a look.
How could he brush it off when this big incident happened inside the estate?
Turning to the butler, Duke Percival ordered. "Cancel all my plans this morning. I'll be heading to Johann's mansion shortly."
....
Arriving at Johann's mansion, Sarika shouted at the top of her lungs. "Where's Adam?!"
The servants who had been going around to do their tasks froze in place at the sound of Sarika's voice. They dared not to move. The look on Sarika's face indicates that she is on the verge of losing control and about to berserk. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Soon, her eyes fell on Han. Without hesitation, she rushed towards him and grabbed his collar with all her might. "Tell me it's just a rumour."
Han, who had been deeply shaken by the sight of Adam's lifeless body, struggled to find the words to respond. His heart weighed heavy with grief and sorrow.
"I-it's true," his voice barely audible. "I'm the one who found his body."
Sarika's grip on Han's collar tightened. "What happened? It hasn't been twelve hours since I last saw him. He was just fine yesterday."
Tears began to flow down her cheeks.
Han could only shake his head in response. "I don't know."
Taking a deep breath, Han began to recount the events leading up to the discovery of Adam's lifeless body. He spares no detail in his explanation.
"Where's his body at? I need to take a look. Maybe it's just a double body," Sarika insisted. She refused to accept the grim reality until she saw it with her own eyes.
Han led Sarika to an old and unused cellar where Adam's body lay. The body was covered with a white cloth. Luckily, the cold air of the north helped preserve the body. Ice can also be found everywhere if they travel further north.
Due to Johann's absence, people in the mansion were at a loss for what to do next. For now, they are trying their best to preserve the body. As for how long they had to do it, nobody knew. Johann never told when he was coming back.
The butler had dispatched many people in all directions to find Johann as quickly as they could.
Time was of the essence.
If there's no sign or news about him, they have no choice but to bury Adam. They can't let his body rot. That would be disrespectful.
Sarika's hands trembled as she removed the upper part of the cloth covering Adam's body. The sight that greeted her confirmed her worst fears. It was indeed Adam lying lifeless before her.
Despite the sadness that threatened to overwhelm her, she forced herself to remain composed.
Soon, the duke also arrived at Johann's mansion. He too approached Adam's body. Immediately, his eyes fell upon the clean wound of the stab that marred the kid's chest.
"A dagger..." the duke murmured. His eyes narrowed with suspicion.
For Adam to be stabbed at the front is not an easy feat. Also, there are no signs of struggles or marks left on his body. Either Adam was caught off guard or he couldn't fight back.
Regardless, the duke could sense a problem coming on his way. Years of being involved in politics are not for nothing.
