Stab-

The dagger pierced through Adam's chest. His breath caught in his throat. A strangled gasp tried to escape his lips but Jin's hand firmly blocked it.

Blood gushed forth from the wound and began to stain his clothes. It flowed down through his body and pooled on the floor beneath him.

Adam's vision starts to blur. In these painful moments, as life ebbed away from him, his mind filled with many thoughts and emotions. Fear and confusion slowly overwhelm him.

"W-why?" he asked. His voice was barely audible to Jin. It can be seen that Adam is having difficulty uttering even a single word.

"I'm sorry kid. you're a nuisance to Demin. He wants to remove you from the picture. If you look for someone to blame, your grandfather is a good target." Jin's voice echoed in the darkness.

Since Adam was about to die, Jin felt no trouble revealing this tiny bit of information.

After a short while, Adam's life finally slipped away.

Jin gently lowered Adam to the ground. The dagger was left embedded in Adam's chest.

His gaze lingered on Adam's lifeless body for a moment before looking around the room.

Since Jin was here, he might as well take a few souvenirs with him. His eyes alighted upon various objects in the room. Each one of them holds a potential value. However, Jin can't take all with him. It will hinder his movement when escaping the mansion later on.

Jin moves toward the desk. Without hesitation, he began to sift through the drawers and take anything small and valuable. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

It was not until an hour later that he finished picking up stuff in the room.

As he approached the window to escape, he took one last look at the lifeless body of Adam. Shaking his head sadly, Jin muttered under his breath, "Poor kid."

....

Morning arrived at Klover Estate as usual. With the first light of dawn gently filtering through the windows of Johann's grand mansion, the servants slowly rise from their beds one by one.

Their daily routine begins earlier. They had to make full use of the sunlight to get their job done. Each of them was mindful to not make a loud sound so as not to disturb the sleep of the two young masters above.

Although there were many things to do, breakfast was prioritised. Luckily, the kitchen was far from the bedrooms. They don't need to hold back or be mindful of the sound produced.

It was not until around ten in the morning that the servants completed their preparations laying the table with linens and gleaming silverware.

One servant quietly ascended the staircase to the upper floors and headed toward the rooms above. It is best not to delay time and let the food get cold.

Knock-

Knock-

With a soft knock on the door, the servant responsible for waking Adam up called out, "Young Master Adam, it's already ten in the morning. Please wake up. The breakfast is ready."

Her voice carried through the door. However, she received no response from inside the room as usual. The servant was perplexed. She was uncertain of what to make of this unusual behaviour.

For years, Adam never missed to response to her call every morning.

Knock-

Knock-

The servants knock again. This time a bit harder. But still, she received no response from the other side.

This situation has never happened before. She was uncertain about the appropriate course of action. Should she leave or enter the room?

"What's wrong?" Han who had been hearing a loud knocking sound came out of his room to ask.

"Young Master Han." The servant greets. Although both of them are commoners, Han was personally invited by Johann to live here. Being a noble guest, she can't treat him half-heartedly.

"Young Master Adam didn't respond to my call." the servant stated the problem.

"That's weird," Han shared the same puzzlement as the servant. "Let me take a look."

Between the two of them, Han would not be scolded for entering the noble's room without permission.

Han gently turn the knob and push the door open. "Adam?" he called out softly as he stepped into the room. But then, his eyes fall onto something.

Adam lay motionless on the floor with a dagger on his chest. Blood painted the floor marble red.

"Arrghh!" the servant behind him let out a piercing scream. Her voice echoed throughout the mansion, alerting everyone.

Nobody in the mansion can ignore such a loud panicking scream. It drew the attention of its inhabitants, forcing the servants to abandon their tasks and hurriedly rush towards the source of the commotion.

As a result, a crowd forms in front of the room. They are all curious.

The first to step forward was the butler. After all, he's the one in charge of household affairs and needs to be aware of every event that is happening in the mansion.

Seeing Han at the front, the butler quickly asked, "Young Master Han, is there something—"

His words abruptly stop. His eyes fall upon the scene in the room. A gasp escaped his lips. Blood gradually drained from his face, leaving behind a pale appearance that depicted the horror he was witnessing.

For there, lying lifelessly on the floor, was Adam Klover, the young master of the mansion.

"T-this...W-What...H-how," The butler's voice quivered as he struggled to form coherent words.

As for what the suitable response the butler should gave, he has no idea. His mind was in mess.

Han, however, has slightly recovered from his initial shock and managed to regain a semblance of composure. "Butler, we need to call Sir Johann back. Did he tell you where he went?"

"Capital. Master Johann said he went to the capital."

"Then go and send people to fetch him!" Han's command shattered the shock around him. For now, he will be in charge.

The butler nodded, snapping into action. "Right away, Young Master Han."
