Restart:Untalented Man-Chapter 461: Rare Letter From HQ
"My apologies," Dunn replied politely. "I'll make sure to put it back properly. Let's not make the academicians in the south angry."
At this point, Dunn could roughly guess the identity of the man who reprimanded him. However, he was not very sure yet.
Although he was instructed to flip the book upside down as a signal, someone might rebuked him purely by coincidence. After all, he meets a few people who can't stand seeing things unorganized.
But, there's no need for this man to mention academicians in the south. It seems unnecessary.
To verify his assumptions, Dunn follows suit and mentions the south to see this man's reaction.
The man's approving nod reassured Dunn. He seems satisfied by Dunn's reply. It indicates that their interaction had gone as planned and they share a mutual understanding.
"Yes, that's a good attitude. One should respect the academicians no matter where they are. Those people have contributed a lot to us."
Dunn also nodded. He was satisfied with the man's response. It was clear now that they were on the same page.
Without further ado, the man reached into his pocket and retrieved an envelope.
He handed it out to Dunn. "I see that you are not an ignorant old man like those gathered at the front section. Here, take this. May it be your guidance."
Dunn stares at the envelope for a while before taking it. It was obvious that this envelope was the purpose of his visit to the bookstore.
It contained information or instructions about his future mission.
"Thank you."
"Don't thank me too early," the man replied. "Let's meet again in the future."
Dunn didn't miss those words. They were never said to him by anyone he met at a rendezvous place before.
Despite being curious about the significance of those words, Dunn decided to set aside his curiosity and focus on the task at hand. He will eventually learn about it anyway.
Now, he was eager to take a look at the contents of this envelope. Ever since he came to the north, he had always maintained one-way communication with the headquarters.
Messages were sent but no replies came in his direction until now.
Dunn was a bit sad though. An old man like him had a fragile heart. Does it disrupt the entire operation by saying a few words of praise and encouragement?
Anyway, Dunn made his way out of the bookstore. Since he didn't buy anything, the storekeeper looked at him with unkind eyes.
He didn't pay attention to it.
At the moment, the bookstore can be considered 'high-end'. There is no surprise if the staff working here develop a haughty attitude and start to look down on people.
The old spy really wants to shout, 'As if this store belongs to you!' but he shoves the idea away. Currently, his mind is preoccupied with the contents of the envelope.
He immediately returns to the estate.
He didn't care about his work and went straight to his room. The dormitory was noticeably deserted since everybody was working.
Once inside his room, Dunn closed the door behind him and took a seat at his desk. He retrieved the envelope from his pocket and placed it gently on the flat desk in front of him.
Carefully removing the contents, Dunn unfolded the letter within the envelope and began to read.
[Greetings Agent Greecious,
Thank you for your hard work in the past year. Your contribution was not being ignored. Please note that the headquarters is well aware and treasures all the information you've sent. However, the current circumstances have hindered us from sending you a reply frequently.
As you might be wondering the purpose of this letter, the HQ wishes for you to assist Johann Klover in fighting against the Duke.
In light of recent developments, the HQ deduce that Johann urgently needs help and we're willing to offer our help to him.
To achieve this, we will send a few more agents to help you. You will know when the time comes.
Please contact Johann and build a bridge between us and him.
Lastly, we hope that through this incident, Duke Percival disappears from the scene.
Once again, we appreciate your contribution and look forward to your excellent result.]
"Huu..." Dunn leaned back in his chair and let out a long breath. He contemplated the weight of the new instruction from headquarters.
The nature of this mission has changed significantly.
Before, he was tasked with mainly observing and sending the intelligence back to the HQ. He always had to keep minimal involvement.
He can understand why.
Their network here is not strong. Any big move would be a risk of being noticed by the enemy.
But now, the headquarters asked him to get involved directly. It is clear that the HQ wanted to speed things up.
Since the HQ doesn't give a specific plan, he needs to develop it by himself and ensure it achieves a successful result.
The first and foremost problem is contacting Johann without raising his suspicion. It is crucial to note that the current Johann is deeply suspicious of everyone.
Dunn can guess the reason for a noble like Johann cooperating with them instead of Blackout. It had something to do with his previous trip to the capital.
He considered his options carefully. Meeting Johann in his guise as a gardener was a big no. That old man will end up thinking that all of this happened because of SIN's plot.
He will not trust them.
Contacting Johann in broad daylight is out of the question as well. There's Han Jester in the mansion.
"Tsk, what a terrible development. I don't know whether knowing Han is good or bad for me."
Dunn shook his head helplessly. His mind begins to devise a plan. "Based on the letter, we will be the ones who took the initiative. Let's make a contact first. Let him know that we are here and we are willing to help."
