Restart:Untalented Man-Chapter 464: Picking up the Teammates
"We will start our investigation as soon as possible," Dunn guaranteed.
"How do we communicate with each other?"
"I'll personally inform you if there's any development."
Dunn didn't feel inconvenienced since he lived nearby. However, he had to be careful not to let Johann discover his true identity or whereabouts.
If this fact comes to light, forget about the mission. SIN might have to pack everything and leave Barlia immediately.
Although Johann may have fallen out with the Klover family and harbours displeasure towards Baldwin, he is not an outright traitor.
With his sharp mind, he can easily deduce the purpose behind Dunn's infiltration and connect it with the series of recent events.
Once it was reported to the capital, Dunn was one hundred per cent sure Blackout would be dispatched. All their hard work in the past year would be ruined.
"Then, I will leave this matter to you and wait for the news."
"One more thing, dear client," Dunn added.
"What is it?"
"Can't you leave some gaps in your security to make things easier for me?" Dunn shamelessly made the request.
The word 'outrageous' is not enough to describe his request. It is like asking the house owner to open the door for the thief to enter.
To avoid being misunderstood, Dunn quickly explained, "As you know, breaching a noble mansion is not an easy task and can be pretty exhausting."
Johann considered this for a moment. He looks at Dunn, perhaps trying to see if there is any ulterior motive behind the shy expression on the surface.
Fortunately, Johann didn't notice anything suspicious. However, he did notice that when people of his age made shy expressions, it looked terrible.
So, he asked Dunn to stop making that face.
"I see your point so stop doing that. You look weird. I'll make arrangements to ensure you have easier access without compromising overall security."
"Thank you."
This concession would indeed make his workload less taxing.
Since everything had been concluded, Dunn respectfully withdrew from the room.
Johann who was seemingly satisfied with the deal offered, "Allow me to escort you out."
"I appreciate the gesture, but I am in no need of help."
Dunn outright refused the offer. Some of Johann's guards might recognise him.
Moreover, Johann isn't really interested in helping. This old noble just wants to see which path Dunn uses to infiltrate in.
"Very well then. Take care."
....
"Haaa~"
It was only early in the morning of the next day but Dunn already sighed. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
His mind was already fleeting elsewhere. He no longer cares about the work he currently doing.
Although there is nothing new about it, this time he was occupied with two difficult problems.
One pressing issue was figuring out how to contact the agents that HQ had promised to send.
"You will know when the time comes," Dunn repeated the sentence written in the letter.
He could not help but to complain. The letter he received from HQ was maddeningly ambiguous, lacking specific details about when or where he should expect the agents to arrive.
Lost in his thoughts, Dunn didn't notice his immediate boss approaching until it was too late.
"What are you whining about?" the supervisor asked.
"S-supervisor!" Dunn straightened up immediately. He respectfully greeted his supervisor and didn't dare to show his laid-back attitude.
"Don't you ever dare to slack off until work time is over. My eyes are on you," the stern supervisor reminded him.
"Don't worry, boss! I will work honestly like everybody else," Dunn replied. He mustered the best smile he could, though it didn't quite reach his eyes.
"Hmph, I hope so," the supervisor scoffed.
To the boss, Dunn's words have no credibility at all.
Well, Dunn kind of understands why. This is another predicament he was facing.
Apparently, he had angered too many people with his behaviour, and let's just say they were not pleased with it.
Dunn ended up getting reported. All his past schemes came to light. His reputation was at its worst.
Currently, he is facing punishment.
His salary had been cut. He had to do twice as much work compared to others for the number of days equivalent to the amount of people he deceived.
To simplify things up, it's a lot.
"What are you here for, boss? I'm sure you're not here just to piss— I mean, to remind me, right?" Dunn asked.
The supervisor nodded. "Seems like you still have a brain. I thought you lacked one since you are so daring with your actions."
Dunn's mouth twitched. Had it not for his mission, he might smacked this arrogant bastard with a broom. But he couldn't afford to jeopardize everything now.
"There are three people at the gate, claiming to be your relatives from afar. They requested to see you."
"Oh? Relatives, huh? Why don't I go and take a look."
As far as he knows, he had no relatives in the north. This could only mean one thing. The agents from HQ had arrived.
"You better come back after meeting them," the supervisor warned. "If you dare to slip out from the estate..."
"I won't. Rest assured and put your trust in me."
"Only a fool does that."
Dunn ignored the harsh remark from his supervisor. He threw away the gardening tools in his hand and headed towards the gate.
Approaching the gate, Dunn saw three people standing there, dressed plainly.
Among the three, Dunn recognised one of them. A genuine surprised look appears on his face, making the situation more believable.
Dunn cast the brightest smile on his face. One that could easily be seen as joy at seeing long-lost relatives.
"My beloved uncle! My very familiar cousins!" Dunn opened his arms to show the warmth of a family reunion.
The agents played along, stepping forward and embrace Dunn. "Our very familiar relative! It's been so long since we last met! How are you doing?"
"I'm doing just fine," Dunn replied. "We have much to discuss."
