Johann's response was a snort of mockery. The words of this uninvited guest are too good to be true. "I guess your 'help' is not free, right?"

Dunn couldn't help but give a wry smile at Johann's cynicism. "Sir Johann is good at making jokes. I hope you don't mistake us for a charity organization," he replied.

Dunn's tone was light but laced with sarcasm.

Johann's gaze bore into Dunn's. It was as if the old noble wanted to see what was hidden in Dunn's heart; to see the extent of truth in Dunn's words.

A minute of pure silence passed just like that and the conversation resumed.

"You SIN really come at a convenient time," Johann bitterly said.

"If we are ill-informed, how could we survive in this industry?" Dunn countered. It was a matter-of-fact that can't be denied.

Johann nodded reluctantly. "You're right. So, what price do I have to pay?"

Dunn paused for a moment, considering Johann's question carefully. "Tell me what you want SIN to do first. We'll see if we can match our goals."

"I want the help of SIN to investigate the truth behind my grandson's death. I'm sure that bastard Percival was behind this. He may also orchestrate my son's death. While you are at it, find dirt on him. I want him ousted from his position."

Clap-

Clap-

Clap-

A clap from Dunn weakened the tense atmosphere. Judging by Johann's tone, the noble before him was determined to take this path.

"Wonderful! To think our goals aligned perfectly. We also want to oust Percival out."

Johann was surprised. This coincidence is too good and highly suspicious. He couldn't help but ask, "Is that so? What benefit does it bring to SIN?"

The old noble knows which country SIN belongs to. Due to this knowledge, he doesn't understand why they targeted this place.

Isn't it much better to aim for the capital, the political centre of Barlia?

"That's none of your business," Dunn firmly replied and refused to reveal anything. In truth, he also didn't know the reason but there's no harm in acting mysterious.

"Fair enough," Johann nodded. He would consider Dunn a fool if he talked about SIN's agenda to someone he just met. Then he asked again, "Since our goals aligned with each other, how does SIN plan to accomplish them?"

"First, we will send a few people to infiltrate and do some searching."

"Isn't this plan sound too simple?" Johann frowned. He begins to question whether this man truly represents SIN.

Johann's doubt prompt Dunn to give a further explanation.

"Treat it like reconnaissance work. We don't know if there is any evidence left, and if Percival has kept some evidence, what are they and in what nature. Would it be enough to use them, or should we create new evidence to strengthen the existing one? Many aspects should be considered before making a big move."

When Johann heard the details Dunn brought forth, his initial worry began to disappear. He could see that the intruder standing before him had put a considerable amount of thought into the plan.

The possibility for SIN to do things half-heartedly seemed low. Johann found himself growing more confident in their ability to achieve their shared objectives.

"Okay, your explanation sounds good. When are you going to begin, and where should I play my part?"

"We will begin the investigation in one or two days. As for your role, we will notify you when the time comes," Dunn replied.

"Great! I will be waiting," Johann responded eagerly, extending his hand in a gesture of partnership. "So...happy cooperation?"

Dunn stops for a moment, "Well, not so fast. We haven't talked about payment yet."

"Payment? I thought we were working together since we share the same goal."

The corner of Dunn's mouth twitched. This old man wants to join in for free.

"Goal is one thing, payment is another. My people need to make a living too. I'm sure a respectable noble like you don't have a problem paying us, right?"

Johann couldn't help but smile wryly. Apparently, his attempt to get a free ride had failed. Not that he had any problem with paying for the services, but if he could save some money, why not do it?

He thought he could get away with it while the mood was still cheery.

"Of course," Johann replied with a shrug. Years in politics help the old noble mask his slight disappointment. "Payment is no problem. I just wonder how much your service charges are."

Dunn, professional as always, retrieved a sheet of paper and handed it over to Johann. "I'm glad you asked! We at SIN offer several plans to our clients..."

The spy begins his earnest explanation about the various service plans and their associated benefits.

Johann looks at this intruder dumbfoundedly. Sometimes, he couldn't help but wonder whether Dunn was a spy or a salesman.

It didn't take long for Dunn to convince Johann to opt for SIN's most expensive plan.

After all, Johann was a wealthy noble. The offered price was merely a drop in the bucket for him.

While Johann didn't feel burdened by the cost, he wasn't one who wasted money carelessly.

"I hope the price I paid is worth the service you offered," Johann said. A little reminder wouldn't hurt.

"Absolutely!" Dunn replied confidently. He tried his best to hide his smile.

Dunn took out the contract. It was a template contract prepared beforehand—a standard practice for SIN's operations.

In fact, Dunn had brought along several alterations to accommodate different service plans.

Johann skimmed over the contract before signing it. "Happy cooperation, Mr..."

Come to think about it, Johann is still clueless about this agent's name.

"Greecious," said Dunn.

Although it sounds weird, Johann maintained a polite smile on his face. "Happy cooperation, Mr Greecious."

"Happy cooperation, Mr Johann."

Dunn happily shook hands with this old noble. How could he not? This deal brings him a fair share amount of commission.
