Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss-Chapter 546 - 520: Pulling Strings
Chen Lin didn’t understand why Yu Minglang suddenly attacked him, he looked at Yu Minglang in panic.
Yu Minglang walked over the shattered pieces and stood in front of Chen Lin, using the stick in his hand to lift Chen Lin’s chin.
"How can someone like you deserve to be her father?"
"I... didn’t she owe you money?"
"I tricked you."
Chen Lin was dumbfounded.
"Chen Xiaoqian isn’t my girlfriend now but my fiancée and the person I love most. You want to send the woman I care about most into that kind of life, do you think I’ll let you go? If you mess with Qian and her mother again, I’ll make you look like this shattered mirror."
Chen Lin looked at the broken mirror on the ground with liver trembling, Yu Minglang put away his baton and said coldly.
"I’ll shatter you rhythmically."
Passing by Chen Lin, Yu Minglang paused and added another sentence.
"If you still care about her in your heart, it would be better than now. ’Thanks’ to your heartlessness, I can go after you without any worries. I can’t bear to let Qian’s hand get dirty because of you, but I can deal with you for her. You’ve stifled her kindness, so I’ll support a pure sky for her."
Chen Lin couldn’t adapt to Yu Minglang’s rapid change of tactics, looking at Yu Minglang with bewildered eyes.
Yu Minglang whispered something in his ear, completely breaking his psychological defenses, Chen Lin’s legs went weak, and he dropped to the ground while Yu Minglang walked away.
Yu Minglang actually didn’t say any harsh words; he generally dislikes talking and prefers action.
"Come and arrest him. Handle it as it should be judged. This person will have nothing to do with our family henceforth, strictly business."
After hanging up the phone, Yu Minglang stepped out of the small yard and instantly changed expressions, dispelling all the gloom.
There’s one expression for dealing with a rotten father, and another for his little Qianbao. No matter how big the storm outside, he has to shield half of it, leaving only sunny skies for her.
Meanwhile, Chen Lin, kneeling inside, broke out in a cold sweat, as if the last sentence Yu Minglang said was still lingering around his ears.
Yu Minglang said that if he had chosen two years of free labor over selling Qian, he would have arranged for Chen Lin a job ensuring a stable future, also guaranteeing a secure life for him later on.
Unfortunately, Chen Lin chose none of these options; instead, he chose the path that enraged Yu Minglang.
Qian was still holding a cigarette, watching the father and daughter duo depart, searching her distant memories, trying to find even a shred of good memories about her father.
There were none, not a single shred.
She could vaguely guess what Yu Minglang might do after going inside but had no desire to stop him.
Qian knows in her heart what kind of person Xiaoqiang is. He indulges her exceedingly, but that doesn’t mean he’s soft-hearted. He doesn’t show any favoritism even towards his own aunt, let alone her rotten father.
Yet, why is there no fluctuation in her heart? She doesn’t feel a bit sorry for that rotten father, she just feels sorry for herself.
"What are you thinking?"
"I’m thinking about going back to when I was small, to hug the hurt little child who couldn’t get any fatherly love no matter how hard she tried."
Qian said expressionlessly.
Her hand, holding the cigarette outside the car window, was touched, and Qian regained her senses, seeing Yu Minglang looking at her with raised brows, holding the cigarette he snatched from her.
"Little Qian isn’t meant to hug herself, this kind of task must be handed to me. Wifey, you can hug however you want, be good~"
"Smoking behind my back?" He took the nearly finished cigarette, smoked a puff, and then disgustedly spat it out.
"Fake, where did you buy it, go get a refund."
"Is the matter resolved?"
"Yeah, don’t worry, he won’t be a trouble anymore."
"Isn’t he still that unrepentant face?" Qian knowingly asked even though she knew what her rotten father’s reaction would be.
"Yeah... You guessed right. I plan to let him reflect inside for a few days; his actions warrant him staying there for some time."
Yu Minglang had already decided upon entry that if Chen Lin had even a shred of remorse towards Qian, he wouldn’t make things absolute.
But unfortunately, there wasn’t. Chen Lin remained the same, seeking mercy not out of repentance but out of fear of the influence behind Yu Minglang.
Moreover, Chen Lin wanting to send Qian to such a place is enough for Yu Minglang to ruin him.
Yu Minglang was grateful he didn’t let Qian go inside to see the ugliness of humanity; Chen Lin’s conduct indeed made Yu Minglang feel he was unfit to be Qian’s father.
"The sentence is too light." Qian couldn’t describe her feelings, but it was certainly not reluctance. If there was any reluctance, it was her heart aching for herself.
Her heart aches for having spent 18 years in her past life without warming Chen Lin’s heart. At this moment, she especially wants to ask him why he treated her this way and where she went wrong.
But Qian, using the professionalism of a psychologist, comforts herself, understanding that some scum cannot explain why because they inherently do not love anyone except themselves, getting angry with such people equals wasting one’s life.
"I’ll have someone ’look after’ his time inside; after coming out, he certainly won’t dare cause trouble anymore. Treat him as dead, Qianbao, if this would make you feel better."
To deal with such a person, you must cut off all his paths. A father who could say he would send his daughter to be a prostitute, just treat him as dead.
Yu Minglang himself is puzzled, having seen rotten fathers, but not one so deeply rotten that if Chen Lin were lousy to both kids, it would be acceptable, but he seems only rotten towards Qian, still showing some emotion towards Chen Zilong. Is it merely sons over daughters?
"Whatever, whether he stays locked up forever has nothing to do with me." Qian said coldly.
When she mentioned father, her indifferent tone contrasted greatly with her gaze upon observing other families of three, and this contrast tore Yu Minglang’s heart into pieces, the poor little girl was affected.
Others only see her strength and skill, whereas he witnesses her inner conflict when addressing problems; she always says she isn’t a good person, yet his poor little Qianbao unknowingly remains far from being a genuine villain, as genuine villains have no heart.
But she does.
This also constitutes something Yu Minglang protects vehemently, a mix of strength and fragility, charging forward yet inadvertently hurting herself at times. Yu Minglang named it reluctantly evil kindness.
Although it sounds contradictory, it is not; she needs to be ruthless in certain aspects to protect what she holds dear, yet her ruthlessness ends up hurting herself. Whenever witnessing her tangled state, Yu Minglang desperately wishes to shrink her tiny and tuck her into his heart, then eliminate everyone forcing her helplessly.
"Come, Qianbao, brother will take you somewhere!"
