Revenge Wears Red Lipstick-Chapter 152: Getting Prepared
Eva took over cooking dinner and while Dante watched, ready to intervene, he couldn’t help but be amazed at how she handled everything precisely.
The aroma of the food attacked his nose and got him drooling.
The constant peeking from Rhea every now and then made it clear to him that he wasn’t the only one who couldn’t wait to taste Eva’s cooking already.
Mylo walked in, pretended to grab a bottle of water from the refrigerator while stretching his neck like a giraffe just to take a glance at the food.
Eva prepared the chicken, made mashed potatoes. Gave the steak a good grilling at the back while Dante hovered around her like a vulture.
When dinner was finally ready, he was almost out of saliva but held himself back from immediately diving into his place.
"This is the best chicken I’ve ever eaten," Rhea complimented, his pupils dilating when she ate another fork of chicken and hummed in satisfaction.
"I guess it’s alright," Mylo said as he tried to nonchalantly eat his food without a single sound. "I’ve had better."
A direct glare from Dante got him choking on his food instantly.
"I’ve not perfected the recipe so I understand if you’ve had better," she said as she poured him a glass of water. He took the glass from her with an embarrassed look on his face as he drank from it.
"Don’t listen to him. He doesn’t want to admit that yours is the best he has ever tasted," Rhea piped in.
Eva only gave her a small smile in response as she dished more food for Rhea.
Rhea looked thin, and judging from everything Dante had told her she went through, she was malnourished while being captured by her father.
Together, they had their dinner and had a wonderful time together.
They’ve had their little date, but Eva was a little hesitant to leave just immediately. She missed the mansion, and while she and Dante were watching the dishes, Rhea kept them accompanied by narrating the funniest dreams she’d ever had.
By the time they were done, Eva’s too was already stained with oily dishes.
"You can get dressed upstairs. All your clothes are still in your closets," said Dante.
Eva paused, still like an iceberg.
"What?"
He turned to her. "You already have a stain on this one. You can’t get dressed upstairs. They are right where you left them," he repeated.
’He never threw them away?’ She wondered.
Her disappearance wasn’t planned at all. And in the beginning of all the calamity that had fallen on them, she’d thought he was working with his father.
She turned towards the staircase like she was being controlled while deep in her thoughts.
She reached Dante’s room. It was still the same, just darker than usual as if he’d repainted the walls.
The curtains were down, the furniture were still the same. She didn’t know why she thought he would have gotten them changed already. Maybe start a new life after he’d successfully gotten rid of her.
She marched towards the closet and opened it, only to find her clothes. Indeed, they were exactly where she’d left them. Untouched.
Even the vanity mirror close to it was still there with all her makeup products neatly arranged like the owner was still around.
Eva didn’t want to think things too much so she reached for a dress and entered the bathroom to change.
A few minutes later, she stepped out, dressed in a yellow gown with flower designs sown on it.
However, she still didn’t want to leave just yet.
Without thinking, Eva jumped on the king sized bed and just like she’d thought, it smelled like Dante. She’d missed his scent longer than she thought she would. And now, she wished she could go downstairs and give him a good hug and bury her nose in the crook of his neck.
Realizing what she was thinking about, she slapped herself back to reality.
"I’m being stupid again," she thought out loud as she squeezed the pillows and giggled like a teenage girl after her crush made eye contact with her the first time.
Eva wished she could spend more time there but she needed to leave before Dante came searching for her.
She got off the bed, but her eyes caught something. One of the bedside drawers was open.
She wanted to close it but curiosity got the best of her when she saw a glimpse of blue papers inside.
She picked them up, a deep frown on her face as she opened one and started reading.
Only ten seconds into reading, Eva realized that it was a letter directed to her. Judging from the handwriting, it was from Dante, and the date was during the time period she’d disappeared.
He never believed she was dead.
Eva read one letter and then another, tears staining her eyes but she sniffled anything that wanted to drop from her eyes back in.
The door suddenly opened and she jumped, quickly putting the letters back into the drawer like nothing happened.
"Eva, I’ve been waiting for you," Rhea said as she walked towards her.
Eva sighed, thankful it wasn’t Dante.
"I’m coming," she responded.
After pretending to fix her dress, the two left the room.
Somewhere else...
"Are you sure this will be enough?" Mr. De Rossi asked, eyeing the man before him. The man chewed gum and smoked at the same time. "I have many plans."
"Why ask so many questions, Marcus?" Miquel said, cocking an eyebrow. "It’s not like you need them right now." He paused, taking a long drag from his cigarette. "Still amazes me that you came running to me for weapons after you terminated our contract."
He slung an arm over Mr. De Rossi’s shoulder.
"But relax," he added lazily. "Dante thinks he’s already won. I guarantee he won’t see this coming."
Mr. De Rossi shoved Miquel’s arm away.
"Good," he said coldly. "Keep the weapons coming. We need to be prepared."
