Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 705. Facing the Infernal Element
Mu Qin’s defensive energy protected her so she didn’t suffer a serious wound, but the strike still shoved her back.
Zhang Daofeng didn’t let go of the chance. He pushed ahead while he had the upper hand. The two round metals next to him turned out to be a pair of flying chakrams. One was emanating fire, while the other was oozing water. He used the Flying Sword art to control the chakrams. He charged forward with the two flying chakrams.
The others did the same. Dim Loog gathered his energy and fired an arrow of light three times the regular size. Hou Huang combined her flying sword into one gigantic sword. With Huang Ti’s sand enhancement, she thrust this sword at the staggered Mu Qin.
Before all the attacks reached Mu Qin, an image of a giant yin-yang symbol appeared. All the attacks coming at her were like encountering powerful turbulence. They were swept aside and bumped into each other.
"You are not the only one who can use the Xin Lai Palm!" Zhang Daofeng exclaimed.
A second yin-yang symbol appeared as he thrust his palm forward. The two symbols touched one another. Both were spinning in opposite directions. The spinning forces countered one another. Sparks were produced from their friction.
*BOOM!*
The two symbols shattered with a powerful explosion. The momentum forced both practitioners back. The battle paused after that. Mu Qin didn’t move. Her opponents also stopped.
A drop of blood trickled from Mu Qin’s mouth. She touched it with her fingers and looked at it.
"I can’t remember the last time someone drew blood from me," Mu Qin said. "I must commend you for hiding your true power. So, you have been faking it all the time we have sparred?"
"Not at first," Zhang Daofeng replied. There was pride in his face. "I simply didn’t show you my improvement."
"That water element...," Mu Qin referred to the water chakram floating beside Zhang Daofeng. "That is not your weapon’s power. That is the element from your art." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"You are correct. These chakrams are low-tier runic weapons, but they don’t possess elemental power. Their traits are enhancing the user’s elemental power."
"Even with the enhancement, I don’t feel it any less powerful than your fire elements. You have an A-level affinity to the fire elements. You can’t be... Do you have a dual elemental affinity?"
Zhang Daofeng’s smile turned wider. "I have a special constitution that allows me to possess the same affinity level in two elements."
Mu Qin took a deep breath. "I know you are an ambitious person, but I also believe you are an honest person. That’s why I supported you until you became the Hierophant. I didn’t expect I was only half-right. How many more secrets do you keep from me?"
"Many enough to rid our world of being manipulated by someone like you," Zhang Daofeng uttered. The red and blue chakrams beside him began revolving around him. As their speed increased, their spinning formed a large yin-yang symbol.
"Taste my true power!" Zhang Daofeng exclaimed. The spinning yin-yang symbol flew toward Mu Qin. Fire and water intermingled as the symbol spun like a circular saw.
"Hmph! You forgot one thing," Mu Qin said as the symbol approached. "I have revealed my true cultivation. That means I don’t need to hold back from using my true element!"
The black demonic aura exuded by Mu Qin now possessed a soft, light green quality. This aura seeped into her hair, turning it light green. It was just as it had been when she wounded Jiang Tong with a single hit. At that time, the bangle on her arm shrouded her aura. This time, it was laid bare for everyone to sense. Furthermore, since she didn’t hold back, the aura was denser.
"Wind element, one of the infernal elements!" Huang Ti said after sensing the aura.
Mu Qin’s light green hair swung like a thick rope and collided with Zhang Daofeng’s fire and water saw. The collision resulted in a powerful detonation that destroyed the yin-yang symbol.
Mu Qin was unharmed by the explosion. She also wasn’t pushed back by the force. A soft breeze swirled around her. This breeze made her hair flutter like a lion’s breezy mane.
Zhang Daofeng’s water and fire chakrams returned to his side. They revolved around him as he observed the situation. His previous confidence slightly faltered. He might have hidden his true power from Mu Qin, but it appeared his adversary was the same. Although in her case, it wasn’t out of choice that she didn’t reveal it, but because it would expose his demonic lineage. Now, she had no such limitation. From his gauge, he estimated her wind elemental affinity should at least be A-level.
"Don’t stop! Attack...!!" Zhang Daofeng commanded.
Hou Huang and the others resumed their attacks after hearing the command. However, the result was even worse than previously. Mu Qin no longer needed to use her hair to deflect the incoming attack. The wind swirling around her intensified as the attacks arrived. They were strong enough that they blew away Dim Loog’s arrows of light and Hou Huang’s metal blades.
"My turn," Mu Qin uttered. Her hair spread in all directions, making her look like a human hedgehog. Countless tiny wind darts shot out from her hair.
Hou Huang, Huang Ti, and Dim Loog, who thought they were relatively safe due to their distance, suddenly found themselves in need of defense. They fumbled but managed to get their defense up and blocked the wind darts in time. Even so, the impact from the wind darts made them nervous. The wind darts were tiny, but their power could not be underestimated. If they were hit, they wouldn’t be unscathed.
Even Amon, who was the furthest away, was not spared. The wind darts travelled a great distance. Thanks to his proximity and danger sense, he managed to dodge the darts without needing to pull the Beta Puppet back.
Mu Qin followed up with a different attack. Her hair joined into one thick braid before he slashed it down. The slash produced a wind blade. The wind blade would have been invisible if not for its soft, light green color.
Zhang Daofeng blocked the wind blade using his ink brush. The collision knocked him back, but he sent his two flying chakrams forward to counterattack.
Mu Qin’s braided hair spun in a circle. A circular wind blade radiated out. This blade knocked the fire and water chakrams before continuing.
Hou Huang flew to the side to avoid the wind blade, but the blade broke apart when it passed her. The broken blade turned into many smaller wind blades that came at her. She whipped her crimson whip, which she had picked up after the previous battle. The whip destroyed many wind blades, but not all. A few grazed her. The wind blades easily sliced through the metal skin that covered her body. Blood was drawn from those grazes.
Dim Loog and Huang Ti fared better. They were further away when the circular wind blade broke apart, so they had more time to react. Huang Ti also had the Beta Puppet protecting him. They managed to parry or dodge the small wind blades.
Zhang Daofeng made further attempts for offense, but Mu Qin’s hair continued to produce wind blades after wind blades. He had trouble keeping up. Much less attacking her, he was even forced to move further away from her.
Zhang Daofeng greeted his teeth. He could see that the battle didn’t proceed as he had hoped it would. They would lose if things continued this way. He was forced to take a desperate gambit.
"Faithful followers of the Divine! The demons are our sworn enemies. Anyone who follows the path of the divine must take up arms and vanquish this evil! My brothers and sisters! Join me in this fight!!"
The citizens below were stunned by the call. They were content with being bystanders because the two opposing sides were figures they respected. They were reluctant to fight either one. However, they felt compelled to act after the call.
Not many answered the call, but some did. These were the temple’s members who were close to the Hierophant. With a fanatical cry, they flew up to answer their leader’s call. Their act drew a few more to join.
Seeing that, Hou Huang also did the same. She shouted at the Martial Realm soldiers floating above the city wall, "Gyleth Marx’s soldiers, answer your empress’ call! Defeat this demon with me!!"
Hearing that, Sura Yao, who led Gyleth Marx’s troops, uttered a battle cry, "For the empress...!!!"
Other Gyleth Marx’s soldiers echoed her cry. They charged forward loudly. Dim Loog also called for his troops. Huang Ti didn’t issue any order, but Huang San, who was watching from the wall, did. Echos’ Martial Realm soldiers rushed forward. Huang San stayed behind, though, because Huang Ti had made him promise not to join the battle.
Xin Wuming and the Martial Realm soldiers of the First Demon Army were also present. He was ready to advance, but Amon never made the call. Amon chose selfishly not to sacrifice his soldiers while the others did.
