Chapter 706: Chapter 706. Carnage Above the Holy City

Xan Chi and Fen Nu were also on the city wall with Kazhan’s Martial Realm soldiers. They followed the First Demon Army and returned to Saint’s Rest after receiving the message from Amon.

He wanted to advance with the other soldiers, but he didn’t because Xin Wuming didn’t.

"Grand Chief, will we just watch while the others have a glorious battle?" Fen Nu asked.

"Damn it!" Xan Chi cursed. Why was he waiting for Xin Wuming’s lead? He was a Grand Chief, Goddamnit! He turned to Fen Nu and ordered, "Everyone! It’s time to do what we came here for. Kick the Temple of Divinity’s butt...! Even if the butt is only one woman, and we do it with the other temple’s members... Argh! Whatever! Let’s have a glorious battle...!!!"

With a roaring battle cry, the Kazhan’s warriors charged forward. The only ones remaining on the wall were the Martial Realm Soldiers from the First Demon Army.

Huang San was also on the wall. When he gave the order for Echos’ Martial Realm soldiers to advance and support his father, he meant all Echos’ soldiers, which included the First Demon Army. So, when Xin Wuming and his subordinates remained stationary after the other soldiers advanced, Huang San called them out.

"First Demon Army, why haven’t you advanced? Hurry up and assist your previous king!"

Xin Wuming glanced at Huang San briefly before replying without looking at him. "General Amon hasn’t given the order to advance."

"How dare you! I am your king! My order takes priority!" Huang San exclaimed. While speaking, he approached Xin Wuming and released his Peak Spirit Stage’s aura.

Xin Wuming was a Beginning Spirit Stage, so Huang San’s aura gave him quite a pressure. Nevertheless, he remained defiant. He said, "General Amon hasn’t given the order!"

Yong Baili was there. He came forward and uttered, "I obey the king’s order." He then turned to the other Echos soldiers and yelled, "Echos soldiers! Your king has given the order. Move out!"

He flew forward. Some Echos soldiers followed him, some mimicked Xin Wuming’s stance and refused to move, while the rest looked at each other with uncertainty. As for the non-Echos soldiers who were drafted from Kazhan and Khode, they couldn’t care less about the Echos King’s order.

"Hmph! This is not over. Prepare to face a court-martial for your action," Huang San told Xin Wuming. He moved away after saying his piece. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Amon looked at those who answered the call. The belief that all demons must be vanquished whenever one was found was evident here.

Even though the Holy Mother was a revered person who had earned the respect of the temple’s followers, there were still many temple members who came to aid the battle against her. Even though she had shown her superior power, a power that meant certain death to anyone under the Lord Stage, so many still obeyed the order to join the battle.

This showed how the creed to eliminate demons had been deeply ingrained in the people of this world. Amon took note of this case. What he saw was a cautionary tale if his demonic identity was ever exposed.

Mu Qin saw the incoming mass. She was neither angry nor afraid that everyone treated her as the enemy. She shook her head with a sad expression instead. Her sad gaze was fixed on the temple members who were currently flying up. She had shown them kindness and care. Yet, it was so easy for them to turn against her.

However, her sadness was not for herself, but for those people who didn’t know they were about to die.

Her braid opened, and they spread, shooting the wind darts in multiple directions. The wind darts travelled a great length, were fast, and nearly imperceptible. Without a keen sense of danger like Amon, they couldn’t dodge the wind darts even when they had sufficient distance.

Many had their bodies punctured before they even realized what had happened. Those who were careful enough had activated their defensive arts before they flew up. These people suffered terrible wounds even when they managed to stay alive.

Seeing so many perish in the blink of an eye made them have second thoughts, but Zhang Daofeng’s thundering voice rallied their courage back.

"Do not be afraid! We are enacting the will of Heaven! Demons will never win! To me, my faithful followers! To me...!!"

Zhang Daofeng lunged at Mu Qin. His two chakrams moved beside him with synchronized pace. Mu Qin’s hair returned to a braid, and it unleashed several wind blades at him in retaliation. The wind blades prevented him from approaching her. His ink brush and two chakrams were busy deflecting the wind blades.

With the incoming support, Hou Huang decided to take the risk of joining the close combat. She slashed her crimson whip while her metal blades protected her from the wind blades. Dim Loog also changed his white bow to his white spear. He charged in and delivered multiple thrusts from a different direction from Zhang Daofeng and Hou Huang.

Only Huang Ti maintained a distance. He used his sand to augment Hou Huang’s metal blades while conjuring a hail of sharp rocks to assail Mu Qin. The Beta Puppet remained at his side, protecting him from the wind blades so he could focus on support and offense.

The temple’s members and the Martial Realm Soldiers used long-range attacks. They left the close combat to the Lord Stage cultivators. As time passed, more people gathered. Those who remained on the ground could no longer see the battle. All they saw was a big congregation in the sky.

Mu Qin’s hair and her wind armor let her fight enemies from all directions. Even so, she was only one person. The number of attacks assailing her was overwhelming. With her having to pay attention to everything, Zhang Daofeng finally managed to slip in close enough.

His ink brush aimed at an opening and rushed at Mu Qin’s head. However, the weapon failed to hit its target. What it hit was an afterimage. She moved around the place, leaving multiple illusions in her wake. These illusions could confuse even the Lord Stage cultivators, what more the others. All her opponents knew not where to attack.

Like the wind, she came and went as she wished. Everyone she passed, their bodies ended in pieces. In a short time, the sky was raining blood and body parts. The citizens who watched from below were forced to find shelter, or this carnage would land on them.

"Do not falter! We must vanquish the demon!!"

Zhang Daofeng’s rallying call continued to reverberate. This call somewhat preserved the masses’ courage and prevented them from surrendering to fear after seeing their comrades dropping like flies. He himself kept chasing after Mu Qin based on the bodies she left behind, but it was hard to do with so many illusions distracting him.

While Mu Qin kept moving randomly and killing everyone in her path, a black dagger tied to a yellow cloth suddenly appeared before her. She could sense that this dagger was not a normal weapon, so she didn’t underestimate it. Her hair slashed at this dagger and repelled it. After she did, she remembered the dagger then. It was the one Amon held when she first met him.

Amon’s attack was to pinpoint her location for the others. A follow-up attack soon came. A fiery wheel came for her. Her hair slashed back and deflected this attack as well. The fiery wheel turned out to be a red scythe. It returned to a soldier wearing a mask.

Mu Qin retaliated by firing her wind darts at the masked soldier.

Sura Yao used Death Carnage to block the wind darts. She could still block them, even with difficulty. The soldiers around her weren’t so fortunate. Punctured holes filled their bodies, even those who had already activated their defensive arts.

Mu Qin fired a second barrage of wind darts. Sura Yao was still staggered. She couldn’t block this second barrage.

"Worry not, Miss Sura! I will help you!" A loud voice exclaimed. Xan Chi came and swung his hammer. The brute force of his hammer managed to destroy the wind darts, but the darts’ offense didn’t stop there. The destroyed dart became a burst of wind. Even though it was less deadly than the dart form, it still caused cut wounds all over Xan Chi’s rock-covered body.

Sura Yao was both glad and angered by Xan Chi’s save. Did the brute have to announce her true gender to the whole world?

Sura’s scythe turned into a flashing light that slashed in a wide area around her. Strangely, none of her slashes targeted Mu Qin. What her scythe hit were the soldiers hit by the wind darts. Some of these soldiers had died. Some were close to dying. Though after Sura’s scythe hit them, they also died.

"Hey! What are you doing?" Xan Chi asked her.

Sura Yao didn’t answer. She didn’t need to, because the answer revealed itself. Ghost-like apparitions came out of the dead soldiers she just hit. These apparitions then rushed toward Mu Qin.
