Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 726. Someone Will Defeat You!
Amon and Wu Di exchanged hits at close range. They used simple punches, without utilizing martial arts. Straightforward, quick, and precise. Amon used both fists. Wu Di fought only with his right. With such point-blank exchanges, they couldn’t dodge most of the punches.
Neither minded. They tanked the punches they could not evade and delivered retaliations straightaway. Amon had his dark suit, which cushioned the blows. Wu Di had the Saintly Ape, swiftly recovering from any injuries he received.
Explosions of light and darkness flashed every time impacts occurred between the two. Wu Di’s every punch was delivered using the Ignition Fist. Each punch could send the opponent flying. However, Amon had learned to mitigate the blast by manipulating his dark suit. When he could not dodge the punch, he amassed the shadows of his dark suit at the impact point, letting it be a shield to soften the blow. He also planted his feet and widened his footing every time that happened. This prevented him from getting blown away again.
Amon was a combatant who was much stronger than the average cultivator of his same level. He had a unique physique that had evolved due to various factors. However, Wu Di was also no average combatant. His Saintly Ape and Gigas Blood both catapulted his power way above his cultivation level. In this regard, they were more or less equal.
In terms of elemental superiority, Wu Di appeared to be at an advantage. His soul gauntlet nullified much of Amon’s darkness. However, Amon had more factors in his favor. His cultivation was half a stage above Wu Di. He also used one more hand than Wu Di. Not to mention, his acute perception and analysis helped him study Wu Di’s punching rhythm and adjust accordingly.
After several exchanges, Wu Di could no longer land any hits on Amon despite their proximity. It was Wu Di who got punched more often. His Saintly Ape had trouble keeping up with its recovery speed.
"It is still too early for you to face me!" Amon exclaimed, landing another punch on Wu Di’s face.
While Wu Di was reeling, Amon controlled his Xian Cloth, which twirled and wrapped around Wu Di’s body. Wu Di’s left hand, which was still stubbornly gripping the ceremonial dagger, was bound tightly to his body. Amon performed a roundhouse kick, which landed on Wu Di’s head. Wu Di crashed into the ground.
Amon lifted his hand. Fire emerged from that hand. Fire that possessed a tinge of both divine and infernal aether. It was Flame Lance using his mixed energy. He wanted to end the fight by impaling Wu Di’s head, giving him an injury that not even his Saintly Ape could heal.
Wu Di punched up from the ground. Amon snickered. Wu Di punched too early. Amon figured Wu Di must have panicked and misjudged his range and timing. The punch hit empty air. Amon waited for Wu Di’s punch to expend its energy before he thrust his flame lance.
He was wrong, though. Wu Di didn’t misjudge his range. His punch was where he wanted it to be.
"Ignition Blasttt...!!!"
Wu Di’s loud yelling was accompanied by a powerful blast from his fist. This was another art he created, modified from the Ignition Fist. The Ignition Fist caused an explosion at the point of impact. His new martial art, the Ignition Blast, produced a detonation whether or not his fist made contact. The blast was even more powerful than the original martial art.
Amon felt like the air before him had compressed before instantly expanding. It was as if a bomb had detonated directly on his face. Wu Di’s soul gauntlet augmented the Ignition Blast. Light elements bombarded Amon. The blast tore away the upper half of the Elder God Suit, revealing Amon’s head.
While Amon was still reeling, Wu Di delivered a strong kick to his chest, sending him crashing into the ceiling. Cracks spread further, joining the existing ones.
"Evil will never win...!!" Wu Di exclaimed. He forced himself up. He readied his right fist for another punch. The soul gauntlet on that arm flared brightly.
"You talk too much," Amon uttered.
Wu Di sensed something approaching from his flank. He turned and saw six dark chakrams. He reacted in time and executed rapid punches. Each punch transformed into a flash of light that not only diffused the shadows coating the Alpha Flying Knives upon impact, but also sent them crashing into the ground. Cracks were visible on the knives after they stabbed into the ground.
Wu Di fended off all the Alpha Flying Knives except one. He failed the last one because Amon tugged at the Xian Cloth, which in turn yanked Wu Di, who was still tied to it. The interruption caused his punch to deviate. It only scraped the last knife. The knife’s trajectory shifted a little, but it continued flying forward and sliced Wu Di’s left leg. Amon threw his flame lance then.
Wu Di sensed the danger and shifted his position even when he was still unbalanced. He avoided the flame lance from piercing his head, which was Amon’s target, but it still hit him. The Flame Lance penetrated his left waist.
The pain from both the lance ripping his body and the fire searing his flesh was too much to bear. He screamed from the pain.
The momentary surrendering to pain made him lose Amon’s position. When his thought returned, he found Amon was already below him. Amon landed a fist straight into his chest. A cracking sound was heard as Amon’s Bone Shattering Shadow Fist sent him crashing into the ceiling above.
Wu Di’s grip of the ceremonial dagger loosened. Amon sensed this from the sensation in his Xian Cloth. He didn’t let go of the chance. The Xian Cloth pulled the dagger out of Wu Di’s hand. In one swift motion, it sliced the arm that had imprisoned it.
Wu Di dropped from the ceiling with a severed arm. Amon’s offense hadn’t ended. He jumped up just as Wu Di fell. His crimson dagger stabbed deep into Wu Di’s chest, impaling his heart again.
"As I said, I am proof that evil can prevail," Amon said. He channeled infernal energy into his dagger, and the black sword reappeared. It pierced out of Wu Di’s back. "Good does not always–"
A glowing fist slammed into his head. The punch was so hard that he lost consciousness for a second. When his awareness returned, he was bouncing off the ground after hitting it hard. He somersaulted and landed on his feet.
He touched his cheek in consternation. His skull must have cracked. He didn’t understand how he failed to detect the punch. It was as if the fist just appeared suddenly out of nowhere. He stared at Wu Di, who stood with his fist extended.
Wu Di was back to his human form. His Saintly Ape had run out of juice. He was panting heavily. Blood flowed from his wounds, mouth, and nose. From the look of it, he was struggling even to remain standing. Yet, the fire in his eyes didn’t diminish.
Under his struggling breath, he spoke with difficulty, "Good... will always... prevail! If not me... Then someone... someone will defeat you... I’m sure of this...!!"
"Hmph...! We will see," Amon said. He pulled his Xian Cloth.
The ceremonial dagger was still embedded in Wu Di’s chest. With the yank, the dagger was pulled violently from Wu Di’s chest. It ripped out a huge chunk of flesh. Blood gushed out. Without the Saintly Ape, Wu Di couldn’t survive this fatal wound. He dropped to the ground and remained still.
Amon tightly gripped the ceremonial dagger that had returned to his hand. He lifted it. Though Wu Di seemed to have died, it was not his style to leave things to chance. He was prepared to deliver a crescent slash to decapitate Wu Di. He said, "Such a pity... Our battle would have been much more phenomenal in the future if you had only stopped being such a busybody."
However, before he swung his dagger, he heard sounds of rapid cracking. He looked up and saw that the cracks on the ceiling had expanded to a critical point. With a loud thump, the ceiling collapsed. The rubble buried Wu Di’s body. Amon had to jump back to avoid being buried as well.
Amon stared at the cave-in. His thoughts were still on the rubble ahead when he heard the sounds of battle from behind him. He was reminded again of his primary objective. He cursed himself. The intense fight with Wu Di had caused him to momentarily forget Huang San.
This had never happened before. No matter how tough the battle was, he was always aware of his immediate surroundings, goals, and plans. He couldn’t help but spare another glance at the rubble. Perhaps killing Wu Di here was a boon. If someone like him were permitted to grow further, he might become an existence that proved too troublesome to deal with. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Amon tore his thoughts away from Wu Di. The man was gone now. It was time for him to conclude what he was here to do.
He looked at himself. The Elder God Suit remained missing its upper half. The battle just now, though short, had consumed much of his energy. He couldn’t reassemble his dark suit to cover his head.
’Never mind,’ he thought. It made no difference now.
