Chapter 472: Blood Lightning vs The Devil Flame (1)

Third Person’s POV

He could already see himself as the legendary World King, a sovereign whose will would shape and bend the reality of the world he ruled over.

With a single snap of his fingers, he would be able to decide the fate of any being in this world.

He could kill anyone he didn’t like, wage any wars he wanted, and make his rivals and enemies dance in the palm of his hand.

He could take any beautiful woman he desired into his harem and indulge in every forbidden desire he had without restraint, law, or consequence.

He would possess absolute and unchallenged freedom in every sense of the word.

In that moment, he was so deeply lost was he in this intoxicating fantasy that he completely ignored his son, Dazon.

In his mind, Dazon was still the same obedient and dependent child who worshipped him blindly, and he believed that Dazon was smiling only because he was pleased by his father’s happiness and future glory.

Outwardly, Dazon’s expression was indeed that of a devoted son who was seemingly pleased by his father’s happiness due to the surprise he had given him.

Yet deep within the darkest corners of his eyes, a faint and silent sneer glimmered.

It was one filled with hidden ambition, cold calculation, and something far more dangerous, unseen even by the Dark Emperor himself.

It was only after a long while that the Dark Emperor finally began to calm down.

The manic excitement that had overtaken him slowly receded, and the green flames in the eye sockets of the skull dimmed into a steadier and dimmer colder glow.

He turned toward his son, and although he was present only as a floating skull formed of shadow and hellish fire, he somehow still seemed to smile.

"Alright, son," he said slowly, his voice echoing with layered resonance,

"In the evening, once you are away from these chaotic and troublesome events, contact me again."

Suddenly, his gaze sharpened, as if piercing through space and distance.

"For now, it will not be long before that vampire woman senses my presence here, and she is not someone to be careless around, so I must leave for the moment.

But do not worry..."

A strange, dangerous warmth entered his voice as he continued,

"I will arrive here very soon."

As he finished speaking, the green flames burning inside the dark skull’s hollow eye sockets suddenly flared brightly and filled the surrounding shadows with a sickly emerald light.

The dark skull vibrated once for a second and then collapsed inward as if crushed by invisible hands.

It dissolved into a pool of writhing dark shadows that poured back into the black dome surrounding the dark prince.

In the next instant, the dome itself began to unravel and broke apart into countless flowing strands of shadow that streamed back into Dazon’s wrist.

They merged and reshaped themselves until the sinister snake skull tattoo reformed once more and melted quietly against his skin as if it had never moved at all.

Dazon slowly raised his head and returned to his previous posture, his expression once again cold and composed as he hid every trace of what had just transpired, though the scene of his father’s calm words rang inside his head again and again.

Falco and the girl beside him seemed to feel the shift in his presence and suddenly exchanged uneasy glances as they felt that something was wrong and something big was about to happen.

Only a couple of seconds had passed in the real world, yet whatever secret and terrifying interaction Dazon had just carried out was already over.

They looked toward him and hoped for some kind of explanation, but his face was completely impassive and offered them nothing.

It felt as if he had not done anything at all, but what they could not know was that everything, from the moment Dazon sliced his palm and fed his dark blood to the snake skull tattoo, had taken place within the Shadow Realm.

And the shadow realm was a parallel plane that overlapped with the material world, much like how the astral realm, which was the domain of souls, overlapped with the material world.

It was a place where time flowed differently compared to the material world, where shadows possessed their own substance, and where countless strange and ancient beings lingered beyond mortal perception.

To enter that realm was already difficult for even a user of darkness, but to remain there and conduct a long, secret conversation without being noticed by the mysterious beings of the shadow realm was nearly impossible for anyone but a being of extraordinary power.

That it had been done so easily was only because of the terrifying legacy of darkness carried by Dazon’s imperial bloodline and the overwhelming strength of his father, the Dark Emperor.

That was why, while their long and detailed exchange had unfolded within the depths of the Shadow Realm, only a fleeting two seconds had actually passed in the material world.

And in that same tiny window of time, the Enforcement Elder Solomon was still striding toward Ethan, his steps heavy with authority and filled with killing intent while being fully intent on dragging him away to suffer the dreaded Punishment of the Devouring Hellrats.

But it was at that very moment that Lady Raven’s patience finally snapped, and the cold in her crimson eyes deepened into something sharp and merciless.

She did not waste time on words when she clearly sensed the enforcement elder’s nefarious intent disguised as righteous punishment.

Without speaking a single syllable, she slowly lifted her slender, pale hand.

In the next instant, a blinding bolt of dense, blood-red lightning erupted from her palm, tearing through the air with a shrill scream as if the sky itself were being ripped apart.

Surprisingly, she needed not even a single second to cast this bolt spell by uttering any magical chants or gathering her mana for unleashing the violent power it carried.
