Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 488: The Looming Dark Omen On The Horizon (2)
Third Person’s POV
"While the battle was unfolding," Isha said slowly, "you missed the true danger closing in around Nyx’s disciple.
The real threat to him didn’t announce itself with fire or lightning."
Altheria’s eyes narrowed instantly, and irritation flashed within them due to the annoying way Isha spoke of her being a lightheaded idiot for not knowing the whole thing.
"If you were able to detect such a danger," she shot back coldly, "then how could I not? You are even weaker than I, Isha. Don’t try to fool me with vague warnings and half-truths."
As she spoke, arrogance crept into her expression, and her chin lifted slightly as she stared down at Isha with open skepticism.
In response, the white dragoness rolled her eyes, and the disdain in her eyes deepened, forming a silent clash of pride and knowledge between the two powerful women as the tension between them thickened and became heavy with unspoken implications.
Unable to tolerate the little duchess’s dismissive attitude any longer, Isha finally let out a quiet breath and continued with her voice carrying a rare note of urgency.
"Those dark demons are planning something nefarious again, and I am absolutely certain of that," she said, her cerulean eyes narrowing slightly.
"I do not yet know the exact contents of their plan, nor the full scope of the scheme they are weaving, but I can tell you what I personally witnessed, and what I have concluded from it."
She paused briefly, as if choosing her words carefully, before continuing in an even lower voice, while a light emerged from her hand and engulfed the two in a white, transparent dome blocking all foreign sounds or senses that might try to overhear their conversation.
"Do you remember the dark waves Nyx’s disciple released during the assault by that old bone slave?
The same waves that swallowed everything within your academy’s square in an instant."
Her gaze sharpened as she looked at Altheria.
"I know you were observing from a distance. I could feel your attention lingering there, quietly marveling at the phenomenon.
And since you didn’t react with much alarm, I had safely assumed that you were already aware of his exceptionally high grade darkness talent."
Listening to this, Isha’s expression grew more serious.
"But I was there, Altheria. At the very heart of it."
Her voice lowered slightly.
"And I can tell you this that during that eruption, even my senses were passively restricted.
And even though actively, it was nothing to me, given the vast difference in our strength, but the essence of that world eclipsing darkness told a far more terrifying story to me."
She took a slow breath.
"What Nyx’s disciple possesses is not merely a top-grade affinity for the dark element."
Her words landed heavily.
"He may very well carry the legendary Overlord grade elemental talent in darkness, something believed to exist only in ancient myths and half forgotten legends."
As her words settled, for a moment, the forest seemed unnaturally still.
"As you already know, ninety-nine percent of the world wouldn’t even recognize the danger such an individual represents," Isha continued.
"They wouldn’t know the secret burden carried by those born with an Overlord category talent.
But you and I know better that such people are born with their own Overlord Origin."
Altheria’s eyes hardened on hearing this as the implication of what the beautiful dragoness had just said hung in the air like a silent thunderclap.
"And if their fortune is even slightly above average, if they obtain sufficient resources, protection, and time, then you know as well as I do that there exists a minute, but very real, possibility of them reaching the fabled realm of True Gods, a realm that even we dare not dream of achieving by normal means in our lifetime."
As Isha finished speaking, silence fell.
The little duchess remained frozen in place with her earlier arrogance being completely wiped away.
Shock rippled through her expression as the weight of Isha’s analysis sank in, as, to be honest, such a thought had never crossed her mind.
Bearers of Overlord grade talents were supposed to exist only in myths and cautionary tales whispered by ancient beings and recorded in old, undated texts.
She had never once imagined that the boy, whose sweet blood she had been secretly drinking for the past two years, could be such a monstrous anomaly.
Slowly, as her thoughts settled, a far more terrifying possibility surfaced.
Her crimson eyes lifted to meet Isha’s cerulean gaze, and in that instant, both women shared the same unspoken realization.
"But then..." Altheria said quietly, her voice no longer playful, "...how could that old fogey have learned about Ethan so quickly?"
Her expression darkened.
"This isn’t a secret that just anyone can uncover, not so easily and not so precisely."
The unease in her voice made it clear that whatever had begun moving in the shadows was far more dangerous than either of them had initially assumed.
"I suspect it was that dark prince, the thin one who was leading the royal entourage from the Empire of the Abyssal Dominion."
Isha spoke with quiet certainty, her cerulean eyes steady and unblinking, as if she had already weighed every possibility before arriving at this conclusion.
Hearing her words, Altheria frowned deeply, and her small brows knitted together as she floated slightly lower in the air.
"But how could someone that young be capable of detecting something like this?" she asked, her tone sharp with disbelief.
"And I clearly remember that boy as he was supposed to be my second disciple’s fiancé."
She snorted softly with irritation creeping into her voice.
"I had already planned to sever their engagement anyway. After all, my second disciple is in love with Nyx’s disciple, and yes, his name is Ethan."
The moment those words left Altheria’s mouth, the white dragoness raised one elegant white brow in surprise as that revelation was clearly unexpected.
She hadn’t imagined that Nyx’s disciple, Ethan, was entangled in such a complicated web of relationships.
