Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 526: A Shocking Discovery (1)
Third Person’s POV
His movements were steady and disciplined.
The scars that crossed his face and jawline spoke clearly of many battles fought in the past, marking him as a seasoned and experienced warrior.
His sharp eyes moved constantly, watching the icy cliffs and snow-covered ridges around them for any hidden threat.
The final member of the group was another young woman, who walked quietly beside the noble maiden, maintaining a respectful distance while keeping pace with her leader.
Unlike the others, however, her gaze occasionally shifted toward the enthusiastic young man with barely concealed disdain.
To her, his exaggerated behaviour was clearly tiresome.
As for the noble young lady herself, she simply responded to the young man’s declaration with a faint smile.
The small gesture caused the young man’s face to brighten immediately.
He smiled broadly while being clearly convinced that the noble young princess admired his courage and appreciated his loyalty.
What he failed to notice, however, was the subtle indifference hidden within her starry blue eyes as she looked at him because to her, his passionate display meant very little and seemed totally idiotic.
They continued forward at a steady pace, calmly trekking across the tall and treacherous mountain slopes.
Their destination was clear in their minds, the narrow gap between the two towering peaks that remained hidden from their view for now as it was concealed behind layers of jagged ice and drifting snow.
The climb was far from easy.
The terrain beneath their feet was uneven and dangerously steep, with hardened ice patches that could cause a fatal slip if one lost focus even for a moment.
The biting wind howled constantly around them, carrying sharp grains of snow and the freezing, icy elemental energy that struck their bodies like tiny needles.
Yet the group moved with controlled precision.
Each step they took was measured, and they conserved as much energy as possible in preparation for any unforeseen danger or sudden battle that might arise in such a perilous region.
Among the five of them, only the tall, armored middle-aged man possessed the ability to fly, as he had already stepped into the Sky Realm.
However, despite this clear advantage, he did not move ahead to scout the path, and even though the young noblewoman had requested this from him more than once, he remained firm in his decision.
His duty was singular, and it was to ensure her safety.
And he had no intention of compromising that responsibility for anything else, as what if anything happened to her while he went scouting for even a little while, either from external threats or any internal unknown enemy.
How would he answer his lord then?
He simply couldn’t take that chance.
His stubborn adherence to his role had long since become clear, and after several failed attempts to persuade him, the young noblewoman had quietly given up on trying to utilize him in the way she had originally planned for this journey.
After some time, they finally managed to scale the steep incline using their own strength and techniques.
Their breathing grew slightly heavier, but their pace never faltered, and eventually, they reached the narrow wedge between the two mountains.
The moment they steadied themselves at the edge, all of them, except for the armored guard, had a change in their expressions.
Before them lay an endless, dark gorge that, to their horror, began just a single step away from where they stood.
The abyss stretched downward into a depth so vast that its bottom could not be seen due to it being swallowed entirely by darkness and icy mist.
Cold winds surged upward from within it, carrying a hollow, echoing sound that resembled distant wails rising from the depths of some icy hell.
For a brief moment, silence fell over the group.
Then—
"Aaarrggghhh!!"
The young man who had earlier thumped his chest with confidence suddenly let out a startled scream.
His body jolted backward instinctively, but his footing slipped on the icy ground, and he nearly toppled forward into the abyss.
In that critical instant, Uncle Caspian moved.
Despite his frail appearance, his hand shot out with surprising speed and strength and grabbed the young man’s arm firmly, pulling him back from the edge.
However, the young man’s panic only made things worse.
His movements became clumsy and uncontrolled, and his legs trembled as he struggled to regain his balance.
His frantic attempts to steady himself nearly caused him to slip again. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Seeing this, the armored man’s eyes turned cold.
Without hesitation, he stepped forward and grabbed the young man by the scruff of his neck and lifted him slightly off the ground to stabilize him.
"Hmph," he said in a low, firm voice.
"Control yourself, young man, and do not create unnecessary trouble."
His grip was steady, and his presence was intensely imposing as he said this,
"Show some courage that the blood of your family possesses," he continued calmly, though there was a sharp edge to his tone.
"And have some patience."
Although his words were harsh, they still fell within the bounds of stern guidance rather than outright disrespect.
The effect was immediate as the young man froze.
His trembling stopped as the weight of the armored man’s presence pressed down on him.
He instinctively grabbed onto his grandfather’s arm and turned his gaze upward toward the sky as if trying to avoid looking at the terrifying abyss below.
It had now become clear to everyone in the group that he was afraid of heights, and with nothing solid behind him to lean against, that fear only intensified.
However, the fear did not last long in his mind and was soon replaced by something else, i.e a deep feeling of humiliation and anger.
He cast quick, furtive glances toward the armored man as resentment started building within his eyes.
In his mind, he felt that he had been embarrassed in front of everyone, especially in front of the young noblewoman.
To him, this was unacceptable.
