Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 73: She’s Someone Who Holds Grudges
"Yes! Let’s go back quickly; we still need to prepare dinner for Kaize. Who would have thought that buying a chicken would take this long?" Su Yijia complained with a wry smile.
As they left the Li family’s house, they passed by the elderly woman who had accompanied her. Su Yijia wanted to apologize or offer something as compensation. After all, it was her presence that had frightened the old woman.
But the thought was quickly dismissed by Su Yijia. Being impolite was better than being suspected of bribing the old woman to collude in a false testimony.
Fortunately, although Su Yijia was still a suspect, she managed to hitch a ride back home in the small Jeep.
With his swollen face, Ke Zeming followed Su Yijia and Gao Huabin back to the Qin family’s residence.
Qin Kaize, who had woken up from a nap, was sitting in the courtyard listening to the radio. Qin Mingcheng sat beside him, apparently engaged in conversation, but it was clear that Qin Kaize was ignoring him. His expression was unusually unpleasant.
When he heard the door being pushed open, he looked over and saw Su Yijia with two men standing beside her. Even though Ke Zeming’s face was swollen from the beating, Qin Kaize sneered disdainfully.
"A woman who can’t stay loyal to one man! My big brother is really embarrassed for having a wife like you!"
"What did you say?!" Gao Huabin pointed at Qin Mingcheng and wanted to beat him up.
But Qin Mingcheng was also a coward. After uttering those words, he immediately ran away. However, he might be running, but Gao Huabin was chasing. They rushed into the living room, and Gao Huabin pinned Qin Mingcheng to the steps and started beating him up.
Qin’s mother screamed in distress from inside the house.
Ke Zeming furrowed his brow and looked at Su Yijia in confusion. "Aren’t you going to stop them?"
"He insulted me. I’d consider it lucky if I didn’t personally grab a shovel and beat him to death. Now that someone else is doing it for me, why should I stop them?" Su Yijia’s round eyes narrowed slightly, her tone filled with astonishment.
Actually, Ke Zeming wasn’t really inclined to stop Gao Huabin from beating up Qin Mingcheng either. He just finds it a bit strange
Ke Zeming explained, "Your actions aren’t quite like those of other girls. Even if everyone feels unhappy, most would still try to mediate to prevent things from getting too ugly. It’s to avoid awkward situations in the future. Being polite goes a long way."
"Hmph!" Su Yijia rolled her eyes dramatically. "Why should I be like other girls? In the past, maybe I used to be like what you described, but now I know better. Always yielding won’t make others go easy on you; in fact, it might lead to more schemes against you. So, if someone wrongs me, I’ll hold a grudge until they have psychological trauma and fear me. Besides, he said those things without feeling embarrassed when he saw me. Why should I be embarrassed as an innocent and pitiable person?"
"You’re quite unique," Ke Zeming admitted that he had never met someone like her. While some people might have such thoughts, they wouldn’t express them so openly.
"Oh," Su Yijia didn’t quite catch whether he was complimenting her or implying something else, so she brushed it off.
Approaching Qin Kaize, she pulled out a chair and sat down, meeting his concerned gaze.
"I’m back, and I’m not hurt. We’ve captured the people we needed to, and I also bought the old hen. So, don’t worry. It’s just that things are too coincidental. I’ll have to undergo questioning and investigation for a while, but since I’m not working, it won’t affect me much." Su Yijia recounted the events that had occurred after she left the house to Qin Kaize in detail.
She then picked up a notebook and held it to him, ready to let him spell his words.
