Chapter 108: Wild and Hungry

Kain locke

I lay curled on the bed with Kael’s clothes wrapped around me, as if the fabric could shield me from the fire spreading through my body. My breathing grew shallow and uneven, each exhale hotter than the last.

His scent lingered faintly on the fabric, sharp and familiar, but it wasn’t enough. It brushed against me like a whisper when what I craved was his presence, his warmth, his touch.

It reminded me of that night in Calstone. That unbearable heat, that storm of need that stripped away all reasoning until nothing remained except a single thought, him. Wanting him, needing him, until the ache became unbearable.

I pressed my face into the shirt, desperate, dragging the cloth against my skin as if I could draw him closer, as if the memory of his scent could seep into me. But the fire inside me only grew stronger, curling low in my stomach, leaving me restless and trembling.

"Kael..." His name slipped out, weak and broken. I bit my lip, hating how desperate I sounded, yet unable to stop myself. My body knew what it wanted. It wouldn’t be soothed by fabric or by memory.

I pressed my thighs together, trying to fight the throbbing ache that refused to leave me. His scent clung to me, teasing, haunting, but it was nothing compared to him.

The heat wouldn’t stop. My skin burned, my breaths were shallow, and no matter how tightly I clung to Kael’s clothes, they weren’t enough. My chest ached with something raw and desperate, a need that kept twisting deeper inside me.

I need him here, I want him, I want his hands on me, his kisses on my skin.

I was still drowning in that overwhelming hotness and ache when I suddenly felt a presence in the room.

Kael?

Is it him?

I shivered. His scent wrapping around me, too strong, too close, drowning me. My body leaned toward it instinctively, even though my mind screamed that I should resist. But how could I, when it was the only thing that made the fire inside me feel bearable?

A hand touched my shoulder. I flinched, but then the warmth spread, grounding me. Not enough. God, not nearly enough. It’s not enough.

When I lifted my gaze, Kael was there. Too close, yet seeming too far, every nerve in my body screamed for him. My lips parted, but what came out was broken, needy:

"Please... it’s hot. I want..."

His eyes darkened, and for a heartbeat he froze, like he was fighting something inside himself. "I can’t...I’ll get you water." he said, attempting to go back. I wasn’t going to let him.

My body moved before thought, dragging myself up, pressing against him, rubbing against the solid heat of his frame. His scent crashed into me, stronger than before, more than anything I’d ever breathed in, drowning me, making my head spin and my pheromones to rushed out even stronger than before.

And then his restraint shattered with a growl that rumbled low in his chest. His hands caught me, dragging me forward until I was pressed flush against him. My lips parted on a gasp, but the sound was swallowed as his mouth crashed hungrily onto mine.

His lips moving against mine with a force that made my whole body tremble. The kiss was unsteady at first, rough with too much hunger, but it softened when he felt the way I clung to him. His hand slid carefully to the back of my neck, anchoring me, as though afraid I’d pull away.

But I didn’t. I couldn’t.

I pressed harder, my body desperate for his warmth, chest rising and falling too quickly. His scent surrounded me, sinking into my skin with every breath, leaving me lightheaded.

When his tongue brushed against mine, a small sound broke out of me, half moan, half sob, and I felt him shiver. The air between us thickened, hotter, heavier, until nothing else in the world existed outside his mouth on mine, his hands holding me in place.

"Kael..." I whispered when our lips parted for just a breath. My voice was thin, almost broken. "Closer. Please."

His jaw clenched, fighting himself, but then he pulled me onto his lap with sudden force that made me gasp. I straddled him instinctively, thighs tightening around his waist as his body pressed into mine. My heat flared at the contact, and I buried my face in the crook of his neck, breathing him in like I’d suffocate without it.

His jaw clenched as though he was fighting himself, but then he pulled me onto his lap with a suddenness that made me gasp. I straddled him instinctively, my thighs tightening around him as the warmth of his body pressed against me.

My heat flared sharply at the contact, and I buried my face in the crook of his neck, breathing him in like I’d suffocate without it.

I clung to him helplessly, fingers tangling in his hair, tugging to keep him close. Every kiss stole more of my strength, leaving me shaking, aching, needing. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

When his lips broke away, they trailed down my jaw, across my throat. Each brush made me shudder, and I tilted my head back without thinking, offering him more, desperate for every touch.

His breath hitched, and I felt the way his lips lingered there, right on the sensitive skin of my neck, where instinct whispered he should mark me. He pressed a kiss there, gentle at first, then harder, his teeth grazing as though he was just one breath away from losing every control , as if he hadn’t already lost them. "Kain..."

"We can’t do this." His voice was hoarse as he added with struggle, "If I go further... I won’t be able stop."

My chest ached with how much I wanted him, how much I needed him. I pulled back just enough to meet his eyes, my vision blurred with heat and desperation.

"Then don’t stop," I whispered, pulling him close to me and locking our lips.
