Chapter 10: Chapter 10 Clean and Fragrant

Secretary Jiang stumbled upon Shen Juanzhi right after graduation.

Not yet twenty, Shen Juanzhi was kicked out of his home by Mr. Shen, determined to start his own business. Secretary Jiang didn't know where his courage came from back then, for despite having better and more stable options, he impulsively chose the latter.

In the beginning, aside from holding the title of the Shen family's young master, the other party had nothing, not to mention he also had a child with him. As a top university graduate with bright prospects, he had to serve as a secretary and also double as a nanny for the father and daughter. From a young man who knew nothing about household chores, he had transformed into a middle-aged uncle who could now cook a table full of dishes, all while paying attention to a balanced diet of meat and vegetables.

God knows what he had been through all these years.

Though he was paid well, his work was so busy that he had no time to spend with his girlfriend, leading to several failed relationships, which just added to his heartache.

"Secretary Jiang, you've taken such good care of me these years. Let me ask my dad to give you a two-month-long vacation at the end of the year, so you can rest well and spend more time with your family."

Shen Weiyi felt quite guilty looking at him. It was because Secretary Jiang had helped take care of Shen Juanzhi and herself that his own marriage had been delayed.

Shen Juanzhi was only concerned with his own carefree life, unaware of the lives of those under him.

As her father's sole heir, Shen Weiyi felt it necessary to show some concern for her future employees.

Secretary Jiang forced a smile and said, "Thank you, Miss, but I'm afraid Mr. Shen might not agree to it." He had given up on the two months; even a two-week leave would do. Just the other day, his mom called him about a girl from a blind date who had a good impression of him and didn't mind his age—she wanted him to find time to return home and meet the girl's parents. If her parents had no objections, they could set the wedding date.

Thinking about it, Secretary Jiang planned to combine all his accrued leave to take off when he met the girl's parents and then again for the wedding. But the thought of the busy end of the year made him fear that Mr. Shen might not agree.

"Don't worry, I'll talk to him," Shen Weiyi assured him. It wouldn't be right if Shen Juan didn't marry and also kept Secretary Jiang from starting a family.

"Then, thank you, Miss!" There was an added sincerity in Secretary Jiang's smile.

Despite Mr. Shen's decisiveness and lack of compromises in the outside world, at home, he was quite the daughter's slave. With the young princess personally interceding, there was a good chance Secretary Jiang could get his marriage sorted out by the end of the year.

After dinner, Shen Weiyi took the little one out into the yard to digest. Secretary Jiang helped clean up, and by nine o'clock, there was still no news from the police.

Who knew what kind of heart the parents had to not be anxious? Their child was missing, and it had been so long, yet they still hadn't come to the door.

Seeing Little Douding yawning one after another, sitting on the couch, Shen Weiyi asked Secretary Jiang to go back and rest, while she took the little one upstairs to wash up.

In the bathroom, Little Douding shyly stripped off his clothes, and after Shen Weiyi helped him wash up nicely, she tossed him onto her own bed.

The little guy was not shy at all. He quickly fell asleep in the unfamiliar environment, just as comfortably as he would at home, curling up under the covers.

When Shen Weiyi came out of the shower and found the bed empty, she was startled. After looking around, she found Little Douding at the foot of the bed, sleeping soundly on the carpet facedown, butt in the air like a little frog, which made her laugh uncontrollably.
