Secretary Gwanggong's Survival Diary-Chapter 70
“...What is it?”
Though the words were playful, his serious gaze and voice left no room for me to respond differently.
“You’ll do it, right?”
It was unfair. For him to say something like that in such a vulnerable state—it was impossible for me to give any other answer.
“...Yes.”
No. No matter what words came out, I couldn’t deny it. Even if... even if what he said was driven by his excitement and the loss of reason that came with it.
“You know what I want to hear.”
“...I’ll do anything.”
Yoon Taeo’s lips curled up bitterly. Then, one of the hands that had settled on his shoulder tangled through my hair, roughly pulling and disheveling it. Unlike usual, it was such a powerless gesture. And that, too, made my discomfort grow. But then, hearing his next words made my heart plummet.
“Go to Seoul now. Wait at home.”
“Boss!”
Again, again. Yoon Taeo was telling me I wasn’t needed. Why—why was it always like this, him telling me these things? The anger that had been building up in my chest exploded.
“Do as I say. You said you’d listen to my request.”
Was it because of his state, or was it just my feelings? Yoon Taeo’s words didn’t sound coercive. It sounded more like a request. Perhaps that’s why I couldn’t press him with the usual questions: “Do you know I’m the head of the secretary team?” “How am I supposed to leave in this situation?”
“...Is that all?”
“Yeah. When you leave, Security Team 3’s leader will take you.”
“Why... sigh, alright.”
I was angry. Was I that useless to him? But what did it matter? Why should I worry about someone who dislikes me? I turned and walked away. Each step felt uncomfortable, and negative feelings filled my chest, growing heavier. As I entered the hallway between the living room and the entrance, the anger surged up to my face, and my eyes began to sting. No matter how much I chewed on the soft flesh of my lips, I couldn’t hold it in.
Tears, heavy with frustration, slid down my cheeks. Then, a loud crash echoed behind me. Without fully processing the situation, my legs moved before my mind could catch up. I quickly turned back to find Yoon Taeo collapsed on the floor.
“Boss! Stay with me, stay with me...!”
“Ha... ha...”
I folded my legs and placed his head on my lap. His eyes, which had been staring at me just a moment ago, were now hidden behind heavy eyelids. His lips parted, but no words came out—only strained breaths, heavy and laborious. His face, so hot yet so cold to the touch, sent an unsettling shiver down my spine. The heat on his neck was rising, while his forehead seemed frozen with cold sweat.
“Lean on me...”
I wrapped his arm around my neck, trying to lift him up. But his body, like a drenched stuffed toy, slumped under my touch, making it difficult. Using every ounce of strength, I managed to get him to lean on me and struggled to move him to the bedroom.
“...Leave, quickly.”
It didn’t seem like he had lost consciousness. His voice, faint and barely audible, reached my ears.
“Wait, I’ll get you a sedative.”
“I don’t need it...!”
Ignoring his words, I rushed into the living room, grabbed water and the sedative, and recalled the last dosage. I added an extra dose and carefully helped him swallow the medicine, propping his head up to give him the water.
“Stop, leave. Ha... go home.”
Even though his eyes were barely open, his thoughts didn’t seem to change. The boundary between his reason and instincts was probably getting blurrier. I was placing his head back on the pillow when his large hand wrapped around my arm, and the world tilted. I looked down at him, and in a split second, his face rose to meet mine as the bedding pressed against my back.
“Boss... ugh...!”
Before I could grasp the situation, something unfamiliar touched my neck. It was too soft and hot for me to mistake it for another part of his body.
“Wait, wait...!”
His lips, pulling at my neck as if to bite, made my shoulders push back instinctively, but it was impossible. There were no obstacles, yet my breath quickened within seconds. I couldn’t tell if it was pain from his lips on my neck or... something else. Maybe it was fear.
But...
“Ugh, ah...”
I couldn’t make any judgment. I closed my eyes. His head moved from side to side on my neck, and I held it with both hands. The heat spreading through my body became harder to resist. Even though I was on suppressants, pheromones couldn’t vanish entirely. The pheromones of an Alpha in rut might be something even those pills couldn’t fully block.
“Ha, ha...”
Then suddenly, Yoon Taeo’s movements stopped completely. He breathed hot breaths into the skin ✪ Nоvеlіgһt ✪ (Official version) he had been biting.
“...Damn...”
His head lifted from my neck as his lips, wetter than before, spat out an irritated curse. His eyes were swirling with loud emotions—anger, frustration, and a mix of something... confused and maybe even sorrowful. They hid behind his eyelids. After holding his breath for a moment, he sat up.
“Go.”
That was all he said. With his own hand, he covered his face and collapsed onto the bed. The gravity of the situation hit me late, and I quickly got up. My heart was still racing, and I opened the door.
“If anything happens... call me, boss.”
My voice came out so weak that I could barely hear it myself. The emotions stirred by the sudden turn of events had tainted my words. But as expected, Yoon Taeo gave no response. I stood there for a long time, staring at the lonely silence before stepping out. I walked past the living room and out the front door.
“Sigh...”
By now, the complete darkness had settled in. It was only when the cold air from the beach brushed against my face that I realized how my body was burning up. I swallowed a cold breath, and tangled thoughts began to flow. I tried to calm my raging heart with deep breaths, but it was futile.
Now, I almost... Yoon Taeo... He might have... without anyone’s intention, ‘things’ could have happened. If Yoon Taeo hadn’t regained his senses at the last moment, it might have happened. But did Yoon Taeo look fine?
No, it seemed like his limit was fast approaching. The time between doses of sedatives was growing shorter, and their effectiveness was weakening. If it was already like this after just a day, the next time... it might not have any effect at all. If that happens, I might be swept into the storm of his rut, and my body might break first, followed by my mind collapsing under the weight.
There was, in fact, a way to save him.
Choi Hyunjin.
Though I knew it, I purposely turned a blind eye to that name. Yoon Taeo had never directly mentioned it, but Choi Hyunjin was already interested in him. If Choi Hyunjin accepted the offer, he could replace Kang Haewoon, who couldn’t make it in time.
But I still didn’t want to use that method. There was the excuse that Yoon Taeo had never openly shown affection. But I couldn’t just watch him fall apart either. The contemplation didn’t last long. The only remaining option was one that could perfectly calm Yoon Taeo’s excitement.
An Omega.
Yes. A dominant Omega would be the best, but even if it wasn’t a dominant trait, an Omega would be more effective than a Beta in this situation. Wasn’t there the Secretary Kim Yoon Taeo was always looking for? An Omega, Secretary Kim. She would perfectly carry him through this cycle.
He told me to go to Seoul immediately, but my steps turned back toward the dorm. As I walked inside, my heart, which had been pounding, began to calm down. Before I reached him, the one sitting with his head lowered at the edge of the bed...
“...Boss.”
I saw his eyes turn toward me at the sound of my voice, and I knew for sure. He didn’t recognize me now. I couldn’t mistake it. The Yoon Taeo I knew was gone, his vacant eyes reflecting nothing but emptiness. It should have been a scary sight, but somehow, I felt relief. For now, him not being fully conscious would actually help.
I reached for the wall, switched off the light, and plunged the room into total darkness.
“Wait, wait... ugh...!”
In the brief moment I looked away, Yoon Taeo had pulled me forcefully by the waist. His other hand ripped at my shirt, sending buttons flying in all directions.
“Ha... that hurts... ugh...”
His hand grasping my chest made my voice catch with moisture. Yet, his actions were relentless. In an instant, the pants I was wearing slid down, tangled at my ankles. The strength was unstoppable, and I didn’t even want to resist. My nails dug into my palms as I clenched my fists, suppressing whatever emotion was bubbling up.
Thus began the long night of his rut. The night that Yoon Taeo would never remember and should never remember.
