Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 106: Black Lead Armor

Jax was inherently strong to begin with, and with the Navi stage he improved, his strength improved exponentially as well.
As a result, even at just 4-Star Opal Stage, he was already capable of easily carrying 200 slimes. Given how balanced the armor was, it was even easier to handle it.
Using Body Fortification to amplify his strength, carrying the armor became far easier. He could easily walk around with it as long as he had the Body Fortification active.
And then, to make it even lighter, Jax used his third Skill.
Featherweight Armor.
Navi flowed out of his sea, passing through the many circuits along his body as it made its way to his skin. From there, without any control from Jax, it flowed into the armor around him, immediately reducing its weight by nearly two-thirds. Perhaps even more.
With so much weight reduced, Jax could easily move around.
"This is amazing," he said, testing the limits of his movement. It stopped him from moving no more than regular leather armor did. Because the armor was in plates, rather than being one giant thing, it made each individual part independent of the others, allowing joints to move easily.
Each plate was tightly wrapped around his body and didn’t seem like it would ever rip. But of course, he would have to get the armor maintained every once in a while.
"Thank you," he said, amazed. "This is great armor."
"It sure is," Mel said. "And I must say, you look quite nice in it."
Jax grinned. He walked over to the window again with its dying light, and checked for what he could. He made a whole range of motion to see if he would have to make changes to anything, or if he didn’t like the tightness of the straps.
For now, he could see no issue.
"So, what sort of runes did you put into it? I can see some etchings, but I am unable to tell what it really is."
"Two of them are, while good, quite generic. But I managed to add a rather amazing rune with the third one."
"So there are three runes in total? What do they do?" Jax asked.
"The first rune adds some defense against spells, reducing the damage that you would take otherwise. I used regular Opal stones for this."
"The second rune adds a lot of defense against bludgeoning attacks. It’s not as good against slashing attacks, but there is still some minor improvement there too. I had to use the Earth stone you gave me for this one."
"And finally, for the third one, I created a rune that self-mends your armor when outside of battle."
Jax froze for a bit. "What? Self-mend?"
"Yes. When not taking any damage, it will slowly mend itself."
Jax’s eyes narrowed. "What do you mean by that? How much can it mend?"
"A fair bit," Mel said. "So long as the pieces don’t actually shatter or are bent out of shape, they can fix themselves through any minor scratches and chips."
"I got lucky with the Light stone for this one, really. I thought I would fail since I had never made it before, but I managed to use the Light element’s healing property to add to the armor."
"Thanks to that, it can self-mend now."
"That’s... that’s fantastic," Jax said. "So I won’t need to worry about its durability too much, do I?"
"Not really, no. If you do worry, just return it to me and I’ll check. But I doubt you’ll have to."
Jax nodded. "Thank you."
"Well, you don’t have to thank me," Mel said, with a slightly embarrassed look. "You’re the one who is paying me to do it anyway. Without you, I would still be lurking around the tavern hall, listening in on conversations."
Jax giggled, remembering how the two had met.
"Does this armor have any Spell slots?" he asked.
Mel walked up to him and gestured to one of the plates. She lifted it and showed the underside, where in the leather, there was an oval dent, created to take in Spell Stones.
"Wow!" he couldn’t help but say. "How do you add Spell Slots?"
"It’s through a Spell that I have."
"You have a spell for creating Runes and Spell Slots?" he asked.
"They go hand in hand, really," Mel said. "If you learn one, the chances that you’ll learn the other one are quite high as well."
"I see. I’m glad you learned it. It is honestly quite an incredible Spell to have."
Mel nodded with no small amount of pride. "You don’t have any other Spell Stones, do you?"
"No," Jax said. "That was the only one. Do you know where I can get one?"
"You’ll probably have to buy it from someone," Mel said. "I’m sorry I can’t help you with that yet."
"That’s completely fine. I am happy to have what I have."
Mel stretched. "Finally, I can rest. I’ve been working so much for the past three days."
"You deserve the rest," he said. "But, you’ll have to start working on more soon, won’t you?"
"Will you buy it all from me?" she asked.
Jax laughed. "If I want a strong party member, it appears that I must. Now, how do I get this armor off?"
"Just imagine it being removed and put into the inventory."
Jax did as he was told and the armor disappeared from around him. "Does this thing work for weapons too?" he asked, trying it out immediately. One of the swords in his Inventory flew out into his hand.
"Nice," he said, swinging the sword around. "Good weight."
"You don’t use swords, do you? I hope it’s not a waste for you."
"Won’t be," Jax said. "I’m going to sell this all when I have the chance later after all. None of my money is really going to waste."
Mel laughed. "I should have known."
Jax placed the sword back. "Anyway, are you hungry? I’m starving. I was writing from morning to just a few minutes ago before I came here."
"Writing? About what?"
They left the smithy together and returned to the tavern.
