Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 58 - 2-Star
Chapter 58: 2-Star
A 2-Star ticket was a rare find. A 1-Star ticket was what many apparently found.
3-Star tickets were much rarer, and 4-Star tickets were pretty much impossible. It was said that 5-Star tickets, which should be the highest of the ticket grades, didn’t even exist in the 10th Carriage.
Before coming in, Jax had hoped to find a 3-Star ticket, but he knew with his luck and the lack of time, he would have to forgo such a possibility. To search for a 3-Star ticket would mean ignoring every boss he found until he found the right one.
That sort of thing would have taken him forever. So, all he realistically expected was to find a 1-Star ticket and leave.
The tickets could be used to get a gift on the other side, which could include just about anything. The better the ticket, the better the gift, which was why everyone wanted to find the best one they could.
With a little more than five days remaining, Jax wasn’t sure if he could find anything better than a 2-Star beast. Just finding this one was quite lucky on his part.
He fell into a dilemma briefly. These two people had been the ones to find the boss, so stealing from them didn’t just mean stealing a boss from them but also possibly condemning them to a loss if they took too long to heal and find another boss again.
Since they were together, these people had to find two tickets. If he stole from them, he would be making it harder for them to find the next ticket.
However, it took no more than a few seconds for him to discard all of that thought. The other side of the dilemma took precedence in his mind.
He was the one who mattered here. He alone was who he needed to care about. What reason did he have to look out for others when—
Jax wasn’t sure what emotion he was feeling at that moment. It seemed quite deep-rooted in him. The fact that it surfaced at that moment even made him feel that he needed to contemplate these emotions when he had the time.
Now was not that time.
Now was the time to kill-steal once again.
And since there were only two people in the boss’s lair, unlike last time, it would be much easier.
Jax stayed on the edge of the path, hiding as well as he could to avoid being found out. He stayed close enough to the opening, though, in case the ripple that changed pathways came again.
He needed to be ready to jump through the opening lest it close up on him when he least expected it.
He looked at the boss in the room, the snake, which was still green.
From what Jax had come to learn from Gemma, boss monsters changed colors to represent their changing phases. The change went from white to green to blue to red to black.
The starting color itself wasn’t representative of anything at all. It was simply a color to help newcomers realize that the boss changed phases.
As they moved on, they would learn more and not need to rely on phases at all.
"Assuming that the snake didn’t start with white, it must still be in its first phase," he thought. "I wonder if it has two phases or three?"
Jax would know the answer when the color changed. If it went from green to blue, it would be a two-phase boss. But if there was cyan in between, then it would be a three-phase boss.
’I have to wait for the color to change before I go in,’ Jax thought.
He observed the fight, looking at the various fighting methods of both the snake boss and the other two fighters.
The snake boss used its tail to fight for now, trying to kill them from afar. It could certainly try to wrap itself around them too, not to mention try and eat them whole. freewёbnoνel-com
The warrior with the sword had some sort of spell that allowed him to fortify himself stronger than his physical body was, defending against incoming attacks. His regular attacks were also quite strong.
The sorceress had three spells that she used. One was a ball of blue light that caused anything it touched to be covered in ice. Another spell was a bunch of tiny green spheres of energy that shot at the snake from afar. Her last spell was something similar to telekinesis, which she mostly used to get her companion out of difficult situations where he would be trapped otherwise.
’I can’t get hit by any of them,’ Jax thought, preparing.
He made a plan. When the snake was at its last breath, he would swoop in, covering the woman in his strings to not only restrict her but also impair her vision. As long as he did that, he could take care of the warrior and kill the snake.
As he formed the plan, the snake changed its phase. It became cyan in color and much more frantic. It attacked in every direction and even tried to bite them.
But the two somehow survived, continuing the fight. They were clearly tired, but they were doing it. They were getting close to being done.
Then, the snake turned a deep blue, its scales beginning to split apart. Then, it began lashing out with its body, trying to hit the two.
The snake was getting weaker and weaker, so Jax waited until the final moment. When he saw the right opportunity, he ran in.
His presence wasn’t detected until he was close to the sorceress. She turned around, noticing him, but it was far too late.
Divine Threads!
Jax used his skill immediately, wrapping not just the woman’s body in his white strings but also her face, making it difficult for her to see him.
She screamed, catching the attention of the warrior, who turned around.
Jax used his spell on the man too.
He dashed past the two, unstoppable as he made his way toward the snake to kill it and reap the rewards.
