Darien spent a couple more minutes practicing simple throws and jabs with his spear.

Even though he had enough skill points, he resisted the urge to create any Spearman-related skill.

That would feel like a deviation from his path. Owning the spear was enough.

Afterward, Darien decided to conserve the rest of his stamina.

Dropping the spear, he sank to the crystalline floor, slightly exhausted.

Because of the vigor he'd spent and the distractions roaming his thoughts, focusing this time proved difficult.

It took him a painstaking while to rediscover his preferred silence, and that was when he merged with the realm once again.

After nearly four hours, Darien opened his eyes.

"Finally," he said.

He might have spent only about fifty minutes outside, but four hours inside the Cosmic Realm still felt like an eternity.

It made him realize how much harder and longer it would've been without his special skill, <10x Godspeed Cultivation>.

An Omni-Magus's growth wasn't child's play, after all.

After the progress, he checked his status to remain up to date.

Darien saw that he was getting close to the Ascendant level of his knight class.

His best guess was that the Eclipsera Plane would serve as his breakthrough trial for both him and Vysnera alike.

'I could get halfway through Ascendant by the end of the week,' he thought, his eyes on the constellations of his magical map.

Vysnera had said the map wouldn't last beyond a week, which meant he had only a few days left before it expired.

Picking up Greythorn Pike with one hand, Darien raised his other hand to test the control of his ability.

Slowly, slender vines coiled out from his fingertips. By his command, they twisted and weaved into shapes of objects before he let them fade away.

Darien wondered if, somehow, Mirielle could strengthen her attunement with Wood.

As a 1-star Wood awakener, her potential for scholarly pursuits was limited, but it was still better than being a complete dud.

Thinking about it, Darien didn't mind the idea of helping his friend if the chance ever arose.

Hummmm…

The warrior was now synchronized enough to feel the Wood spear despite it not being magical… yet.

Before, it felt cold and lifeless when he gripped it, but now he could sense the elemental entity of the weapon.

Summoning his deers once more, Darien decided to test his skill.

The haggard creatures materialized into existence.

SKRRAAAA!!!

Without hesitation, the serrated tip of Darien's ghastly spear pierced through one of the undead deer.

-350!

'Bigger damage,' he noted.

Instead of the spear falling to the cosmic floor, the weapon curved midair. Reversing, it returned back into the warrior's grasp.

'Great!'

By attuning to the wooden body of the spear, Darien could control its trajectory!

Naturally, it was a difficult feat, but this was one of the advantages that came with having infinite Flow.

Holding the weapon tightly, Darien grinned devilishly at the skeletal beasts.

Without an ounce of mercy, he unleashed his newfound technique, sending the spear flying in a storm of deadly veracity.

The weapon twirled and spun animatedly, slicing through the air and piercing one, two, three, four, five of the creatures in a seamless chain of strikes.

Darien didn't stop. He repeated the drill again and again until he defeated all seven at once in a single hurl.

Ding!

(You have successfully evolved "Greythorn Pike" into a magical weapon.)

The new notification stunned Darien.

Glancing down at the weapon in his grip, he saw the transformation.

The spear had grown longer, developed a broader head like a viper's fangs, and its coarse wooden body formed denser twists that pulsed faintly with Energy.

(Item Name: Redthorn Spike)

(Type: Weapon/ Spear)

(Rank: Rare)

(Affinity: Wood)

'Haa… unbelievable. It must be my innate skill, <Ancestral Weapon Ascension>!'

He was right! After training the Uncommon Greythorn Pike in the Cosmic Realm and unlocking a unique technique, Darien had evolved it into a magical, Rare-ranked weapon—Redthorn Spike!

His Swordsman class gave him the ability to evolve any type of weapon, not just swords.

Now, he had in his hands a spear worth far more than the seventy gold coins he'd given the receptionist!

Darien inspected the full weapon status for any skill. He found one.

(Skills: Spinal Thorn)

"Not bad," murmured Darien. "Jakob would've loved this if he were a Wood Magus."

Not every monster or warrior had magical shields, so Darien could rely on this new skill to drain his enemies' health with just a single, well-placed thrust.

With these developments, he now stood a much better chance than when he'd first entered the base.

Casting a look around the endless expanse of the Cosmic Realm, Darien remembered his celestial responsibilities.

He wondered how long it would take before the realm shrank completely.

Since the edges were still distant, he decided to remain patient and steady rather than rush his cultivation.

Moments later, his surroundings faded, and he reappeared in his chambers.

The room was quiet and dim as evening approached. The only sound was Rutha's muffled grunts and huffs from the yard.

She hadn't stopped training at all.

But that didn't matter now.

Darien couldn't help but imagine her expression when she'd dodge his spear, only for it to reverse midair and stab from behind.

It was a satisfying image to sleep with that night.

The next day marked the long-awaited trial.

Darien ensured he dedicated a few more hours of training before dawn. He also began his mastery of Wind, too.

Once he was satisfied, he left his chambers and joined the line of other aspirants heading toward the main building.

After seeing his fellow participants, Darien quickly realized that Rutha might not have been the strongest after all.

She was training for a reason!

Some of the aspirants were full-grown adults, not even adolescents, and the most powerful among them was at Rank 2 Ascendant level.

At the main hall, they were briefed before being guided toward where the trial would take place.

Darien had expected the trial to be held in a massive field, but they remained indoors.

When they entered a much larger and more spacious hall, it was clear they'd reached the venue.

It resembled a cross between an arena and a stage, with a handful of warriors occupying a few seats, leaving the majority empty. They were likely guild members.

As his eyes looked up at the viewing balconies, Darien caught sight of a peculiar figure standing alone in the shadows.

The being was hunched, with a swollen back and a crooked visage. A short walking stick supported its balance, clutched by bony, withered fingers.

'What in the world could that be?' Darien thought.

Moments later, all the aspirants were ordered to line up at the foot of the stage, facing forward in anticipation.

The receptionist had been the one who led up until this moment.

Once her part was done, she stepped aside as five distinguished warriors entered the hall, Harwin and Alyx among them.

The remaining three were unfamiliar to Darien, but each carried an aura of authority and sheathed public statuses.

One of them, a smug, burly man with ruffled blond hair and a broad jawline, stepped forward first.

Leaping onto the stage, it looked like he was excited to find reasons to disqualify every single aspirant who wanted to join the guild.

"We all know why we're here!" he boomed. "To see which of you lot has what it takes to survive the real thing. Honored Spire Guild doesn't need soft hands!"

The aspirants all drew a deep breath as the man, who went by the name Shawn, intimidated them.

Among the guild captains, only Harwin and Vela were known for being interested in recruiting warriors, even if few.

The other three, including Shawn, were less interested in recruitment and more in upholding the sovereignty of the Guild, especially with the world rumored to be shifting into chaos once again.

It wouldn't be surprising if the difficulty of this trial had been raised to an impossible level, just to cut down the weak before the guild wasted any further time.

"You will be transported to the Battle Plane using the Trial Nexus," Shawn finally declared. "That's where you'll prove your worth—or die trying."

Opening his palm, he revealed a small, magnificent object. It was blue and crystalline.

But before anyone could see the entire thing, Shawn let it go.

The object fell to the stage with sparks of arcane energy.

The moment it touched the floor, veins of light cracked outward like lightning bolts across the guild's engraved sigil.

BOOOM!

In seconds, what had been a simple cube-like node expanded, forming into a massive octagonal globe, hovering over the stage!
