Slime Evolution-Chapter 82 - Saving the Village
"WE ARE SAVED! PLEASE, SAVE US! WE WILL DO ANYTHING TO THANK YOU!" The frog croaked, his voice hoarse and wet, pointing his wooden staff directly at the bush where Lohan and Lisa were hiding.
The gesture was like a flare in the dark night.
The Kobolds, who had been distracted by the massacre, stopped abruptly. Their pointed ears turned toward the elder, and then to the spot he was pointing at.
The leader of the Kobold group let out an angry growl, and all six monsters turned their red, hungry eyes to Lohan and Lisa’s position, realizing that "dinner" had just gotten a lot more interesting.
Although they had already been noticed by the Kobolds, the pair still maintained their stealth as they advanced for the attack, making it difficult for the Kobolds to locate them constantly and calculate the right place to attack.
-xXx-
Lohan didn’t wait for the monsters to get close. "Lisa, I’m going to block their path with the webs, get ready to flank!" he warned through the mental link as his body vibrated, activating the [Magic Core].
In the next instant, Lohan shot three thick strands of [Magic Weaving] toward the dead tree trunks surrounding the path of the Kobolds running toward them.
The bluish filaments glowed for a second before becoming almost invisible in the humid air of the swamp.
The Kobold leader, a Level 3 monster with darker reddish scales, tried to jump over a bush, but his hind legs got stuck in the sticky web.
"GWAAGHG?!"
The monster let out a squeal of surprise as he felt the Mana being drained from his body by the threads!
Taking advantage of the opening, Lisa activated [Spectral Step].
She turned into a white blur that slid between the roots, appearing behind a Level 1 Kobold who was trying to get around the web as "delicately" as a Kobold could.
With a graceful movement, she fired a ball of [Spirit Fire] at point-blank range. The white flame struck the creature’s chest, which was thrown backwards, falling into the mud as its spirit was burned by magic.
Meanwhile, Lohan decided to test his coordination to a new level.
Using [Partial Division Lv 3], he expelled two small masses of jelly that quickly rolled in opposite directions. Thanks to [Pack Instinct Lv 3], control over these clones was much more fluid than before.
One of the clones, imitating the main body’s [Umbral Mimicry], appeared under the legs of a Level 2 Kobold. Before the monster could swing its club, the clone became extremely Adherent through [Selective Viscosity], and the Kobold’s foot stuck to the muddy ground as if it had stepped on industrial tar.
Desperate, the Kobold tried to strike the blue mass, but Lohan activated the [Obsidian Exoskeleton] on the clone, hardening the surface instantly.
The consumption of this new skill was extremely high, but the wooden blow only grazed the black, rigid shell. Taking advantage of the counterattack, Lohan’s main body fired an [Ice Spike] while canceling the exoskeleton.
-- SHIIIING!
The ice spike, powered by the [Artificial Magic Core Harmonizer Lv 2], cut through the air and pierced the skull of the trapped Kobold, silencing it instantly.

Lisa was not far behind. While Lohan did not worry about movement, she circled the three remaining Kobolds with a speed that the monsters could not follow with their yellow eyes.
She jumped between the trees, firing short bursts of fire that kept the enemies in panic.
"Halon, the leader is breaking free from the web!" Lisa warned.
Lohan used [Spatial Echo-Location] to map the leader’s exact position through the swamp mist. He realized that the Level 3 Kobold was using brute force to tear through the Mana threads, and he wasn’t surprised.
Although the Weaver Spider’s web was very strong, Lohan’s was still at Level 1, so it was understandable that his was more fragile for now.
’Not for long.’ Lohan focused on [Structural Stability Lv 11] and [Morphological Memory].
Jumping off Lisa’s back, he stretched his body forward, creating two long, thin tentacles that whipped through the air. He propelled himself with [Viscous Flow Lv 16], exceeding a speed of 1 meter per second, and when he got close to the leader, he deactivated the front exoskeleton and "collapsed" onto the monster’s wounded leg, initiating [Efficient Digestion Lv 16].
Feeling the damage from the Kobold’s claws trying to tear him apart, Lohan smiled as he felt [Hemolymphatic Tissue Lv 7] activate, raising his conversion rate to a terrifying 151 Bio/h.
The Kobold’s flesh began to bubble and disappear under the blue mass with an acidic hiss.
Lisa finished the job by leaping onto the distracted monster, her jaws glowing with spiritual energy as she struck the beast’s neck.
In less than five minutes, silence returned to the village, broken only by the hissing of Lohan’s digestion and the sighs of relief from the frogs watching the scene in awe.
[Experience: +18]
The elder frog thought he had just found someone else to help ease the burden of battle, even if they could only save a small tadpole it would be a great victory, but who would have thought that the two ’guests’ were actually two terrifying powers?!
Where have you ever seen a fox as fast and lethal as that one?!
And the most shocking thing for them was to see that Slime acting so powerful!!!! Where had they ever seen a Slime so intelligent and versatile as that?! Weren’t Slimes supposed to be foolish and useless creatures?!
’Have we underestimated the slimes?!’ The old toad couldn’t help but wonder.
Lohan formed a small blue hand and waved to the old toad, who was still trembling as he held his wooden staff, indicating for them to approach.
Looking at the way the Slime was digesting that Kobold, at the speed with which the monster’s flesh was being digested under the blue jelly, the old toad gulped, hesitating whether or not to approach further this monsters.
