Chapter 35: Jeju Island (11) Costume Making.

As the students finished their meals, some leaned back, ready to rest—

But before anyone could relax, Monkey Mic stepped into the center of the field.

He planted his broken bo staff into the ground, the microphone head crackling with static.

Then—he snapped his fingers.

Instantly, the other Heroes covered their ears.

Some students noticed the strange reaction—but before they could question it—

"WHAT’S UP, YO?!"

His voice exploded through the microphone, amplified tenfold, shaking the entire area.

Some students immediately ducked under the tables, their hands slamming over their ears.

Others staggered back, their heads ringing from the sheer volume.

A few unlucky ones—their ears started bleeding.

But Monkey Mic wasn’t done.

"I SEE EVERYONE’S DONE EATING—BUT BEFORE YOU REST YOUR ASSES DOWN, IT’S TIME FOR YOUR NEXT TASK!"

His voice echoed across the field, rattling metal trays and sending birds scattering from the trees.

Zion, despite the insane volume, simply grinned.

"I already expected this."

Monkey Mic continued, barely giving them time to recover.

"YOU’RE OFFICIALLY MAKING YOUR OWN HERO COSTUMES!"

Murmurs spread across the students.

"Wait, what?"

"So we finally get to design our suits?"

"This might actually be fun—"

But then—he dropped the real challenge.

"AND OF COURSE, THERE’S A CATCH!"

"YOU’LL BE FINDING MATERIALS IN THE FOREST! IT’S BIG, SO IT WON’T BE TOO HARD!"

The murmurs grew louder.

"Oh, this is gonna be a scavenger hunt?"

"Does that mean we can just grab whatever we want?"

Monkey Mic smirked.

"AND YES—COMBAT IS ALLOWED!"

The atmosphere immediately shifted.

Students tensed, eyes darting around.

"Wait, what?!"

"So we can fight for materials?!"

"Damn, this just got serious!"

But then—he raised a finger.

"BUT—ONCE SOMEONE ENTERS THE BASE, YOU CAN’T ATTACK THEM!"

He pointed toward the base entrance.

"THE MACHINES TO PROCESS YOUR COSTUMES ARE ON THE GROUND FLOOR. ONCE YOU MAKE IT INSIDE—YOU’RE SAFE!"

Finally—he slammed his broken bo staff into the ground.

"BREAKDOWN, YO!"

The moment he finished, the microphone let out one final blast of sound, sending a shockwave through the air.

Some students collapsed onto the floor, covering their heads.

Others managed to withstand it, but their ears rang painfully.

The announcement ended, leaving the students in stunned silence.

Then—murmurs broke out.

"Ugh, fuck, seriously?! What was that?!"

"Is that his ability?"

"He didn’t even warn us!"

"Forget it—let’s just get moving. We need to grab supplies before the strong groups take them all."

The Red Cloth Group Begins Their Search

With the challenge officially underway, the Red Cloth team stood ready.

Zion adjusted the cloth on his shoulder, glancing at his team.

"Are you all ready?"

The group nodded.

Without hesitation, they headed into the forest.

As they walked deeper into the trees, Calvin adjusted his goggles.

"They said the materials would be easy to find, but... I don’t see anything yet."

His tone was calm but observant.

Zion narrowed his eyes.

"Hm... Gaze."

His ability activated, his vision shifting as auras appeared before his eyes.

After a moment, he frowned.

"I don’t see anything unusual... just the auras of students and Heroes."

The team continued moving forward—but something about this challenge felt off.

Were they really just looking for materials?

Or was there something else hidden in the forest? 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Ability: Infinity Gaze

Type: Special

Awakened Version: Positive Awakening

As the Red Cloth group ventured deeper into the forest, the air grew thicker.

Something felt wrong.

Then—they saw it.

Blood. Everywhere.

The trees, the dirt, the fallen leaves—all smeared in deep red.

Dozens of students lay sprawled across the forest floor—some unconscious, others barely moving.

"What the hell...?" Zion muttered, his fists clenching.

Then—they saw them.

Five figures stood among the carnage.

Each of them wore a black scarf wrapped around their necks.

The Black Scarf Gang.

One of them, a tan-skinned student with wild red hair, cracked his neck and smirked.

"Huh... look at this."

His eyes flickered with amusement as he turned toward them.

"Another set of prey."

The tallest among them stepped forward, his presence cold and cocky.

His eyes scanned their red cloths.

"Red Cloth, huh? Not bad."

His voice was calm, yet mocking.

Zion’s jaw tightened.

"Who the hell are you guys? And what did you do to these students?!"

Before he could step forward, a hand grabbed his shoulder.

Zion turned—Calvin.

His usually laid-back demeanor was gone.

Instead, his expression was serious.

Even though his eyes were hidden behind his black goggles, Zion could tell—he wasn’t joking.

"Zion. Don’t move."

Zion hesitated. "Why?"

Calvin’s voice lowered.

"I know that guy."

His grip on Zion’s shoulder tightened slightly.

"That’s K."

Zion’s eyes narrowed. "K...?"

Calvin gave a slow nod.

"Messing with him will be bad. He’s infamous in Bremen."

Zion frowned. "Infamous?"

Calvin’s voice was dead serious.

"He’s from the Moreden Clan—a well-known criminal syndicate."

Zion’s body stiffened.

"Not only that..."

Calvin took a deep breath.

"He’s also known as the ’Ability Goblin.’"

Even though Calvin’s face was mostly hidden by his goggles, Zion could feel it—

The tension. The danger.

And now, they stood face-to-face with it.

K let out a low chuckle before bursting into laughter.

"Ahahaha! It seems your little boyfriend knows about me."

His voice was laced with mockery, his sharp eyes flickering between Zion and Calvin.

Calvin didn’t react.

He just adjusted his black goggles, his expression unreadable.

K smirked.

"So tell me—what do you think? A fight?"

His casual tone made it seem like this was just some game to him.

He tilted his head back, running a hand through his messy red hair.

"I gotta say, the last group was disappointing."

His eyes lazily scanned the injured and unconscious students scattered across the bloody forest floor.

"They were weak as fuck."

He sighed dramatically, stretching his arms.

"And their abilities? Useless. A waste of my goddamn time."

Then—his gaze snapped back to Zion’s team.

His lips curled into a grin.

"So how about it?"

He rolled his shoulders, his knuckles cracking.

"A quick spar?"

His eyes gleamed with dangerous amusement.

He wasn’t asking for a fight.

He was demanding entertainment.
