Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 450: Iron Boar Storage Unit
Jace sighed and looked around for a moment before sighing. He then moved over to one of the gangsters that had relatively clean clothes and used them to clean off the blood from his hands. Laying on the ground in the area were a number of bodies, most of them were beastmen. It would seem the majority of the people in this district were beastmen. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Beastmen used to be a rare race to encounter but it would seem that they had come out of hiding with the rise of the Victorium. They were originally a genetic creation between beasts and humans. Like the Woltar, Leonair, and Uris. But the planet that they were created on fell into rebellion and eventually the technology level of the planet fell until they started grouping up into racial tribes. Eventually some tribes were able to steal some trips or buy their way off world.
They then proceeded to spread out among the various nations never fully aligning himself with any one group. They were mostly treated as wandering tribes. Some even kept generational ships that would travel for years. But with the recent technological advances it would seem that a number of the tribe’s outcasts had come to the new colony station.
He would check the specifics later. But for now he would check the storage unit. These beastmen might have been hired to keep an eye on it. Or they may even be the culprits. Hopefully the others were having better luck because he just had to beat over thirty people into submission.
After a moment he walked over to the rolling door and smashed his foot down on the padlock. There was a groan and then shattering of metal. Jace then reached down and grabbed the bottom and pulled up the rolling door. With a creak of metal it rolled open and revealed the contents of the storage unit.
The side door was still open. But in the actual storage unit were a number of weapon crates and armored crates. All of them were Crystoph Federation branded. There was a lead lined armored box near the back that he walked right towards.
While he moved he tapped his communication ear piece. Connecting to the command channel again. "I am back. Sorry, I was discovered and got into an all out brawl." Jace apologized.
"Are they alive?" Ulin asked immediately.
Jace looked out the building at his groaning and unconscious assailants. Some had bones bent the wrong way. Some were just tasered into an unconscious state. Some were bleeding from wounds or cuts. The giant bear beastman that had managed to sneak up on him was the most difficult opponent. Only because he was so strong, he was not that fast. So Jace managed to take him down by just moving behind him and kicking out his legs before causing head trauma that might result in brain damage.
"They are alive. But either way we will need military vehicles here. There are loads of military grade equipment from the Crystoph Federation." Jace explained. He turned back and walked toward the lead lined box. Tearing off the padlock with his hand and tossing it to the side before pulling open the box.
"What about the source of radiation you detected?" Vana asked.
Jace sighed at the sight of four empty pocket slots. He lifted up the soft material it would have been stored inside and found there were four more slots below the first set. But three of the four on the second level were filled. "Found the original packaging material. We are looking at eight rods in total. There are only three in this box. Ulin, how about the truck?"
"We have followed it out of the Iron Boar district. It arrived a few minutes ago at a club in the Blutose District. We do not know much besides that. Already put in the request with Solisa for intel." Ulin explained.
Jace nodded his head. "Okay, change of plans. Vana when it turns into the night, change and go to the club to see if you can sneak away and plant a tracking device on the plutonium rod. Ulin, keep watch of the club for now. Nila, get back here and look for the other locations. Mark each one down. If they are still in the Iron Boar district we will have to forcefully take it before it disappears." Jace explained. He then noticed a communication device nearby. It was one of those cheap ones that was only used for calls.
"What are you thinking Jace?" Nila asked.
"I am thinking we do not know the seller or buyer but I want to learn about both. Because the gangsters I fought were clearly here to guard it. Definitely a bunch of hired muscle. I will-"
"What the devils?!?" Jace spun around at the voice and saw a shocked business man. Actually calling this person a businessman was a bit too generous. He looked slimy with his slicked back hair and the pocket square he had in his suit. "Who are you? What are you doing in my storage unit?" The man demanded as he stepped over a few bodies and walked toward Jace.
"Inspection specialist. I am here to inspect the unit. Do you have permits for all of these... things?" Jace asked innocently. He could hear chuckling through his communication ear piece. He waved at the boxes and military gear that was around.
"What? I thought I already paid off the inspectors. Well I have permits for all of this stuff. Even if I don’t, I can just buy them." The man declared openly as he walked up to the lead lined box that Jace had yet to close. "Did you open this?" The man asked in confusion. "I do not know who you think you are-"
Quickly feeling annoyed with the talkative businessman, Jace pushed the taser into his back and fired it. He spasmed and made a chittering noise before falling to the ground unconscious. "Okay... I knocked out the self proclaimed owner of the storage unit. Solisa can you get some transports in here to pick up a few of these gang members and these weapons. There is too much for me to easily carry all of these."
"I can... but I thought this was supposed to be a bit more covert." Solisa pointed out.
"It will stay covert. Nila, Vana, and Ulin will continue their part. But before we only thought there was a single piece of radioactive material. What we did not know was that it was several rods of radioactive material. We picked up the radiation because there were so many shoved into a container with partially defective shielding." Jace informed them as he closed up the lead lined container.
He then crouched down and began looking through the businessman’s pockets. He found a card in one of the man’s pockets; he is a stockbroker for one of those firms in the layer above the Iron Boar district. Jace also found a packet of powdered drugs, and a few rolls of smokable hallucinogens in his pockets.
Which thinking about it now was probably how these rogue beastmen were able to make their own official district. They were probably dealing drugs to the stockbrokers who in turn helped protect their local source of drugs. He took a look at them already and knew that they had to wait for the Princess to return to deal with the stock trading companies and other financial companies that were above the Iron Boar district.
"I will send some of our people in an armored transport. We do not need to take over the district, correct? So we can just treat this as a venture into enemy controlled civilian territory. I assume you will be leaving the district with them?" Solisa asked as he received a notification of the specifics as she sent an order to have an armored transport to leave the base and come pick him and several crates up. "What should we tell the High Priestess?"
Jace took the communication device from the stockbroker and the one that was in the room. "You are right, we do not need to take control of the district. I will be leaving with our people since there is no point in me staying now that my cover was compromised. As for the High Priestess, tell her that there are multiple sources of radiation. I plan to track them down and also locate all the buyers as well."
"What should I do while I wait?" Ulin asked.
Jace sighed as he noticed a few of the gangsters started to wake up. "Honestly, I will request someone to bring you long range weapons and observation gear. You might as well set up as a sniper for long range support. Just in case Vana’s mission goes wrong."
"Good. I will keep watching this place. Nila’s already on her way back. I will send Vana out to get changed and ready as soon as some arrives with my gear." Ulin agreed.
Jace walked over and knocked a gangster in the head as they started to get up. This emergency mission was already going wrong.
