Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 482: Cho’s Report!
Jace nodded, "Okay, that gives me something to do. But first I want to know something. Would you like to work for me?" He asked as he paced around the room a bit to get a good look at everything.
"I would but I have a pretty good deal here." She chuckled out as the stationary computer system crackled to life.
"Not to mention, it would be a shame to lose such a good worker. Please stop trying to pouch my guard." A voice announced from the computer system.
"The Warden I presume?" Jace asked with a smirk and chuckle of amusement.
"That is correct. Colonel Jace, it is a pleasure to meet you. You might hear this a lot but you have gained quite the reputation among artificial intelligence as both a liberator and savior." The Warden stated as Jace walked over and looked at the holographic projection to just see a floating symbol that indicated the Warden. He recognized it as some type of rune in the Xenar native language.
"Well Warden, it would be a waste to have her waste her talents here. Especially when I could offer her better living and working conditions." Jace explained as he waved at the woman who was rolling her eyes and walking to her station to watch the cameras. "Although, at the end of the day it is still her decision." He pointed out.
"Indeed." The Warden chuckled.
Jace looked over at the woman who had decided to sit at her station while she listened to their conversation. Jace knew all about the woman. Her name is Jacquette Rose. She was actually the only surviving member of a group of nobles whose moon fell victim to a Kitinol horde. Her early career was filled with her hunting Kitinol and other creatures for the safety of the people. But when she was thirty she was captured by a group of pirates. Officially, the military did not know what occurred on that pirate space craft. But she came back with a burn scar on her face and a report that all of the pirates were dead. After that she hunted people just as fiercely as she hunted dangerous creatures. Even stepping in to torture a captured enemy for information.
She sighed as she turned in her chair and looked at him. "What type of benefits and working conditions are we talking about?"
But as good as she was she was also old and only getting older. The last thing he saw was that she tried to get assigned to a desk station. "Infrequent work hours doing basic desk work and sometimes torturing people when I am not available. Might have you train a group or two in your torture techniques."
Jacquette nodded her head while the Warden made a digital grunting noise. "Yeah… he can provide those working conditions." The Warden confirmed.
"What about the benefits?" Jacquette asked as she seemed to begin to consider it.
"My entire unit is based at the Princess' Pride. The colony station and current command center of the military. You will be attached to the portion of the unit that is permanently assigned to the station, operating out of the base. So you will have a constant location you could use." Jace offered as he sat at the study chair.
"How… how did you know?" She asked in surprise after her eyes widened in shock.
"Because they put the reason for a transfer request in your file when you tell it to them. It sometimes goes into the reason why you would or would not be allowed to transfer." Jace explained. "I can also provide you with another transfer to somewhere else if you would prefer. But there are not a lot of places where the Victorium Military would openly welcome you."
Jacequette seemed lost in thought for a moment before nodding her head. "Okay… I will think about it." She then seemed to think of something. "But you should get started on your research otherwise there might not be a job for me to go to." She informed him.
"Ehh," Jace waved off her concern as he pulled up information on the computer with The Warden's symbol moving to the corner of the screen. "I am not too concerned."
"Huh?" The Warden made a noise of surprise and then burst into laughter. "You are right! You will be just fine." Then his symbol disappeared. Jace shook his head as he started preparing his counterattack.

Cho watched the television with awe as she was lifted out of the couch by one of father's mates. She looked over her shoulder at the one with grey wolf ears coming out of the top of her head. "Hi!"
"Cho, right?" She asked with a frown on her face. But Cho could sense her confusion as well.
"Yup! I am Cho!" Cho nodded her head and looked around the room. She was so focused on the news she did not notice that his two mates had walked into the room. "You are… Vana and that one with the metal hand is Nila!" She waved at Jordan who was doing her homework at the table. Cho was supposed to be doing her homework as well but decided to see what the holonews had about her father.
"Cho… what happened to your tail and ears?" Vana asked, still having confusion as her primary emotion.
"Oh!" Cho blinked and then focused before opening her eyes and Vana blinked in surprise. She could also see Nila at the table was just as confused as she set down a set of plates. "Better?"
"Umm… I suppose." Vana nodded the confusion was still prominent but it was fading and concern was replacing it as she carried Cho over and set her down in her chair where her homework was. "But you should not be watching the holonet when you should be doing your homework."
"Okay!" Cho nodded and quickly started doing her homework. "By the way! Did you see the new Jordan?" Cho asked in excitement. "They are saying that a bunch of different races are showing up in the planetary orbit of the moon that dad has his court day at!"
"Oh? Like what?" Vana asked as she walked into the kitchen and started working on something that produced a burning but a good smell in the air.
"The Kin for one, they are a new race that dad discovered. They are made of light and energy. They only recently discovered that organics were sentient creatures. But they are like a giant hive mind and their form of transport is supposedly filled with galactic radiation that is contained within the ship." Cho quickly explained in excitement as she finished one paper and started working on the next one right before Nila picked up her work and moved it to the side, putting a plate in front of her.
"Anything else?" Nila asked.
"Yeah, all those places we are at war with have sent ambassadors to watch the trial as well. The news people were saying that they might be able to force the Victorium's hand for peace if dad is successfully charged with war crimes." Cho explained as she watched Jordan's homework was pulled away and replaced by a plate as well.
"That is because they would make the excuse that he is the reason the war is going the way it is." Jordan explained. "But that won't work. The government might buy it but the High Priestess cannot be forced to negotiate peace unless MILD agrees with the government."
"The balancing act. Very good." Nila nodded her head slightly as she walked into the kitchen. "While your father is away we will be taking care of you two."
"Then there is the Centuria, Rogue Metal Legion, and Cthulian. They showed up as well. But the Cthulian is only there because they can get the design schematic of the hovertech that father owns." Cho informed them and saw both of them flinch at the mention of Centuria.
"I get the Rogue Metal Legion are fans of… Jace's but what is the Centuria and what are they doing there?" Jordan asked, she was still sometimes hesitant about calling Jace, father.
"The Centuria are an all female race. They are… fans of Jace's after a recent encounter. Apparently they really want the chance to take him back to their territory. If he is successfully charged they plan to attack and take him back by force." Vana explained with a growl. Her mind was now filled with annoyance.
Cho tilted her head in confusion but then turned her attention to Nila as she set down a few bowls with food in them. "If you know that, why do you not send them away?"
"Because if they charge your father. MILD plans to let Centuria strike and get away with him. They feel they have no obligation to interfere when this charade has already gotten this far." Nila explained with a chuckle of amusement. "Now do you want peas or gourash?"
