Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 494: The Bartender Says They Don’t Serve Their Kind

Sparks and flashes of light were filling the tower as the rain poured down around them. Jace’s bullets were either deflected or missed entirely. But they flew off somewhere and probably did damage to something so he did not mind. Although he was also enjoying himself a bit too much as for the second time he backhanded Victor to the side of the wall and roundhouse kicked the Valkyrie out of the tower.

He landed on the bell that was barely holding on and looked between them as he noticed the battle down below had slowly started up again. But he preferred the chaos he was causing before.

He grinned under his helmet as he raised his leg up. Victor flinched and his pale face only got paler. "Oh no..." He mumbled under his breath as the Valkyrie flew back in with her sword pulled back. Ready to swipe at him.

But Jace just slammed his foot down. There was an echo as the bell rang before a loud cracking and then the bell began falling again. As it fell the entire building began caving in and falling apart as Jace’s laughter echoed through the rubble.

"Hahahaha!" "You crazy bastard!" "Damn Spectre!"

As Circa Cathedral collapsed the sound of the bell slamming into the ground before rolling out into the courtyard where the fighting had stopped once again. The cloud of smoke and dust that was thrown up by the collapsing building was quickly subsiding due to the heavy rain.

It was quiet for a few moments before a large piece of rubble moved and then fell over and Victor Al-Ulman climbed out of the rubble he was trapped under. His previous nice cloak and body armor was now in tatters.

A moment later a stature that was too broken to identity rolled to the side and the Valkyrie pulled herself up and grunted in annoyance as half of her feathers had disappeared. While there was something that was clearly wrong with her armors leg. As well her visor had been broken so now one eye was visible through the broken visor.

"Did that damn moron kill himself?" Victor asked in hope.

But the Valkyrie grunted and looked toward a large pile of rubble right before it began shaking. "I wish we were that lucky."

"Bahahahaha!" Jace walked out of the rubble easily enough and dusted off his armor. All his weapons and gear were intact at the moment. Looking over at his two opponents it was clear their gear did not survive the fall. "Wow... you two look like shit. Almost like a building fell on you or something."

"Yeah no... you are far more talkative this time around." Victor huffed out as he shakily straightened up. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Jace was grinning under his helmet and was about to respond when all of the communication channels suddenly went haywire. He frowned and focused on it for the moment but he realized they were emergency transmissions that were quickly being sent out.

Then he noticed the rain slowly stopped and a heat covered them almost like it was from the sun. He looked up and so did the others as several pieces of ships began breaking through the rainy clouds and broke them up.

Jace could pick out the Holy Empire ships as well as several smaller vessels that were definitely from the Victorium. Or more accurately that was from The Elysium which should still be in orbit. Especially since he had not seen any chunks of that ship falling from the sky.

{Rejoice!} Suddenly a voice cut through all of the communication channels and he could feel it ringing in his ears. He looked to a spot in the sky as a yellow light grew and appeared before a figure stepped out. It was just over them.

After it stepped out several small diamond shaped objects flew out and around. He could see it happening elsewhere around the area and probably around the world as smaller portals opened up.

Jace immediately sent a Victorium wide broadcast. "Take out those drones immediately. Solisa, find out what we are looking at."

"No need. This is the same group that wiped out the Xenar. The ancestors of this galaxy. They have probably returned like the Daemons did. They will wipe out all life and only take alive interesting specimens they have interest in." Solisa responded on the same communication channel.

{I have come to liberate-}

BANG!

A hexagonal pattern similar to Jace’s own armor appeared over the six winged metal angel made of diamond shaped parts. But unlike Jace’s it was multilayered. But in the face of a full power shot from his experimental sniper those layers broke until the bullet ricocheted off the side of the creature’s head.

She slowly turned toward Jace who held the gun off to the side as it cooled and he clicked a button so an empty magazine fell out the bottom. As for the creature, he figured it was female because of the voice. That was it.

{For a subspecies of human you are quite rude. Although it seems that is your group entirely. A swath of your people are able to put up a decent fight.} She looked elsewhere before waving her hand. Her voice was not loud and ringing this time. Almost like she was broadcasting throughout the planet before.

"Yeah well... you seem like a bitch so there." Jace shrugged in response before grabbing one of those diamond shaped floating drones from the sky and crushing it with his hand. "Unless you want to end up dead. I suggest you be more cautious. This is the race that wiped out the galaxy before humans came to inhabit it." He spoke toward the Valkyrie and the Vampire.

"They destroyed all those lives... They are already the Holy Empire’s enemies." The Valkyrie declared as she turned her attention to the six winged figure while her feathers slashed through several of those drones.

"Well if it is only a temporary truce-"

{The Holy Empire?} Victor was cut off by the creature floating over them. Who as far as Jace could tell was concentrating on something. {Do you mean that feeble human development that was reigning over human subspecies and other species? That no longer exists. You have no people.}

Even Jace’s brain stopped for a moment as he thought about it. If he was right and this group was the one from the anomalous readings. Then that might just be true. But that means they wiped out several systems that were full of people.

{You subhuman with my people’s metal armor. How did you acquire it?} She pointed at Jace.

Jace blinked and then looked over her own form which was made of metal and realized it was chemi-metal as well. The bullet he fired had only scratched it slightly upon making contact. But now it was making more sense. Like how a non aggressive species like the Xenar got their hands on such a good piece of composite metal.

Instead of responding Jace loaded a new magazine into the experimental sniper. But before he could raise it back up. A small yellow appeared in front of him. Then before he could react. A searing pain blossomed through his shoulder as he flew backwards so quickly he could hear the sound barrier breaking several times.

Victor and the Valkyrie flinched and looked in shock before exchanging a look and nodding. "All vampires on Yuri. We are changing targets." "All Holy Empire soldiers, our crusade has been put on hold." The pair spoke almost in unison as they turned and focused completely on the six winged enemy. ""Destroy the diamond shaped drones!""

The Valkyrie flew up into the air above the angel and struck downwards. It was not enough to break the angel’s shields. But it did send her downward where Victor tried to strike at her from the side. But the angel moved her hand and several diamond drones appeared and cut through him with lasers.

But then the angel was hit from the other side and flew down crashing into the rubble as Victor appeared and his illusion that was being cut up by diamond shaped drones faded. The Valkyrie waved her hand and her remaining feathers ran through the drones destroying them. All around on the battlefield the drones were being destroyed as the remaining vampires and Holy Empire soldiers started working together.

{Dirt?} The angel picked up a handful of dirt and looked at Victor and the Valkyrie. {A pair of subspecies of humans forced me into the dirt?}

Victor blinked and then looked at the Valkyrie. "I thought you were human?" She just shrugged in response. Just as confused.

{ME? THE MIGHT GABRIEL! I WILL NOT ALLOW SUCH SHAME TO CONTINUE!} The angel stood up and its wings flared before glowing brightly as the angel spread out her hands. As she did, armor began covering her body while several other weapons started appearing around her. One weapon for each wing. A halberd, a scythe, a hammer, a spear, a longsword, and then the last one appeared flying from the direction Jace went.

Gabriel the angel caught it. It was a lance but the tip of the weapon was wet with blood. But Gabriel looked at the weapon and tilted its head. She then looked back where it came from. {He survived? Impressive...}
