Chapter 498: EX-6411-8UR

"Only a minute once it arrives. But it could be awhile before it arrives. Solisa should already have evacuated the nearby area. Hopefully by the time it arrives we are the only ones in the nearby area. Your ship is on standby?" Jace asked as he emptied his experimental weapons magazine by trying to hit General Ariel.

"Affirmative. We only need to call." Nina answered.

{You humans are prioritizing the safety of your noncombatants. The way your people are fighting. It appears you have practice doing a full planetary evacuation.} General Ariel observed, she must be controlling some drones at the same time. Which is probably difficult considering that Jace is intentionally jamming all frequencies and channels that his people are not using.

Although his helmet was also on the verge of breaking. "You must have not run into the bugs or those other creepy crawlers just yet." Jace chuckled as he moved the experimental weapon to his back again. There was no point in keeping it out. Especially when he was all out of ammunition. But he could see something he could use.

"Makes sense. They came from the Holy Empire’s side. They were boxed in near the border of the galaxy for a reason. So the only thing they had to deal with were the Fades and the nations on their borders." Nina agreed as she explained.

{Fades? Creepy crawlers? Bugs? What are you talking about?} General Ariel shot forward again with a seeping strike that Jace dodged under the attack and Nina dodged by jumping over the attack.

"Tell me your race’s name and I will answer your question." Jace told her as he came at her from below. But she flew back quickly as a burst air rushed at him and Nina.

Her hammer spun in her hand again before she suddenly struck down at the ground and there was a loud cracking as Jace’s helmet sensors went nuts. "Did you seriously just break a fault line because you were annoyed?" Jace chuckled as he bounced on one leg so he would not be thrown off guard because of the shaking of the ground.

{No, merely trying to give my side an advantage. But you can call us the Mortella.} General Ariel answered right before a pulse of electricity came from the Wolfsbane. When it arrived all of the angels including General Ariel fell to the ground in confusion. {What?}

But the ground continued to shake before cracks started appearing and the ground split apart. Once General Ariel was immobilized he moved and dashed toward the side right towards the healing angel which held up its hands to form a shield that would block Jace. But he just jumped right over it and passed them to get to a pile of rubble.

Once he was there he positioned himself and kicked a particularly large piece of rubble. While transferring a large amount of electricity to the object. The bell rang loudly as he kicked it and it flew through the air. Nina moved forward and slid under it before kicking it from below. Her leg spasmed for a moment when some of the electricity transferred to her.

But the bell was already flying through the air and right toward General Ariel who tried to jump up to avoid it only to instead be hit in the chest by the bell that Nina had redirected. It slammed into her and she flew over some debris and into a hole that was slowly growing thanks to the earthquakes that had erupted. The bell fell in with her, ringing loudly as it bounced off the walls and probably the General herself.

{General!} There was a chorus of panicked screams from her subordinates.

But Jace knew that would not hold her down for long. All it was meant to do was buy them time. He turned toward the closest angel and dashed toward them with his knife ready and electricity channeled so he could quickly kill them. But golden portals appeared behind all of them and they disappeared in a flash. Leaving only the destroyed shell of the single killed angel and Gabriel’s broken sword and lance. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Jace clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Did they just retreat?" Victor asked with a hint of excitement.

"No, they are regrouping. General Ariel is wily. She realized what I was up to and that I was about to kill a bunch of her subordinates while she was distracted. They will return in a few minutes. But just as clever as she is..." Jace looked toward the Wolfsbane and watched as a ship flew low and quickly in their direction before detaching something from the bottom. "I know how to make use of the time she and her people will take." He moved slightly to the side as the giant green armored crate slammed into the ground in front of him just as the shaking of the ground started to slow and stop. There would be aftershocks for a few days or maybe even a few weeks but he was less worried about those.

"What should we do in the meantime?" Valkyrie asked as Jace put a hand on the crate and it opened with a hiss and a burst of smoke began leaking out. "What is that?"

"’We’ are not going to do anything. Nina, call the ship to come pick up yourself, Victor, and the Valkyrie. You are not going back yet but you need to get to a safe distance. Solisa, status of evacuation?" Jace began ordering.

Nina nodded her head and looked in a particular direction. "We have managed to evacuate the remaining twenty seven percent of the population. An initial twelve percent died before we ever landed on the planet. Then there is the additional five percent that died when we landed. Then the other fifty six percent died when the opposition arrived." Solisa answered and Jace could see what little color he had as it drained from Victor’s face.

Jace sighed as he looked at the contents. "Then the evacuation is complete. Pull the Wolfsbane and Elysium back." He thought of something for a moment as he looked at the weapon in the crate. "What percentage of the surviving population of the planet are civilians?"

"Ninety eight percent. The vampires when realizing the extinction of their race was on the line voluntarily sent out their soldiers to fight. Regardless of status and position." Solisa answered. "Once again, the human genome was showing itself in a valiant way."

Jace smirked at that subtle jab. The last two percent were probably the cowards and politicians that wanted to take advantage of the situation or who survived against all odds. Jace pulled the experimental rifle off his back and tossed it to Nina as a Nero Hawk appeared above them. "Get a mile away but still stay ready to come pick me up." Jace informed her as he heaved the weapon out of the container.

It weighed at least a ton and even holding it was a strain on Jace’s arm muscles. The weapon had two pointed sides with a number of rings running between them. Above those was the first arm grip that he was using to hold the weapon. Then behind that portion was the chamber where he could insert a massive shell and the trigger where he was holding the weapon as well. He opened the slot and pulled one of the three massive shells that were in the crate into the weapon.

He then slid the slot closed and then moved the other two shells to his back before kicking the empty crate away. He looked over to see Nina as she jumped onto the Nero Hawk. She was the last one to climb aboard.

"The Elysium and The Wolfsbane are moving to a safe distance now." Dahlia reported. "I looked into what you are planning. Are you sure about this?"

"We need to do enough damage that they are slowed down for long enough for us to regroup. If I do not use the weapon to damage their ship now then it will just be the next planet we have to land on." Jace answered as the weapon began humming with life.

"Understood. I am sending the code to notify our commanders that you are using this weapon." Dahlia informed him before he assumed she switched channels to do such a thing.

Jace sighed as he looked at the Wolfsbane that was slowly moving up past the cover of the clouds. He was sure the Elysium was moving in a retreating motion as well.

He then looked in another direction of the sky and activated his electrical vision. The massive ship that the Mortella were using came into view. "Acquiring target." Fortunately they had only brought a single ship. Or rather a single main ship. He could see several smaller ships around it but knew he could ignore them already. They were probably drone fleets that could be controlled only by the larger ship. Sort of like how they formed the rest of their combat techniques.

"Charging Excalibur."
