A sharp cry finally propelled Wu Shuang into action. She threw herself wholeheartedly into what she considered a perplexing battle.

The increased number of people forced the two men grappling with each other to slow down, making them consider the presence of another person. Their offensive moves shifted from vicious attacks to side strikes, but at this moment, they shared a common goal: to push Wu Shuang out of the circle. However, Wu Shuang was not a weak woman. She was not as strong as one-tenth of these two men, but it was still somewhat difficult to easily dismiss her.

"Stop!" Wu Shuang's attack was not meant to defeat the enemy but to neutralize the attacks between the two men. No matter who attacked whom, she intervened to disrupt and resolve it. Her interference prevented the two men from getting closer to each other, making them look as if they were just play-fighting, lacking any sharpness.

Wu Shuang used her hand to block Hua Qingyi's left leg as he kicked upwards. Due to the opponent's great strength, she barely managed to deflect it, causing her to stagger to the side.

Mu Rongyun did not expect Wu Shuang to intercept Hua Qingyi's offensive like that. When he wanted to withdraw his five fingers, Wu Shuang naturally leaned toward him, colliding with his charged-up palm.

With a "puff," the sound exploded in the ears of all three. Mu Rongyun felt the warmth from her fingertips; he had never felt the heat of blood at such close range, and now he was immersed in it.

Hua Qingyi watched as Mu Rongyun's palm pierced through one side of Wu Shuang; he couldn't determine exactly which part. He stood there in a daze. He should have caught her when she fell. Regret at this moment was meaningless.

"What are you standing there for? Get the medical kit from my car." Mu Rongyun laid Wu Shuang flat on the ground, shouting at Hua Qingyi with his head down. Was his voice trembling? Hua Qingyi had no time to analyze; at this moment, they reached an unexpected consensus and turned to run towards Mu Rongyun's car.

"Look at me, Wu Shuang." Mu Rongyun patted Wu Shuang's face. He dared not withdraw his hand, hoping Hua Qingyi would hurry.

"You're a forensic scientist, specializing in dead people. I don't want you looking." Wu Shuang weakly joked with Mu Rongyun. She could still smile at him because it meant these two men wouldn't have to fight anymore. "What kind of heroism is this? Mind your own business."

"Haha, you forgot to give him the car keys." Wu Shuang found Mu Rongyun's awkwardness had a boyish charm.

"Shut up!" As soon as the words fell, there was a loud noise behind them, followed by footsteps. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"Here!" Placing the medical kit at Mu Rongyun's feet, Hua Qingyi grabbed his arm as he tried to withdraw his hand. "If you don't know how to treat it, don't mess around. It's still time to call the emergency center."

"Xiao Lin isn't the only one in the world who can save people. Step aside, don't get in the way." Mu Rongyun's gaze, sharp as a knife, was pinned on Hua Qingyi's hand. Feeling the slackening of his wrist, Mu Rongyun placed one hand on Wu Shuang's shoulder. "Go and hold her down for me; don't let her move." Speaking, he had already opened the medical kit with his left hand.

"Are you left-handed?" Hua Qingyi attempted to lift Wu Shuang to lean against him but was stopped by Mu Rongyun.

"Lay her flat. Just hold her shoulder down." Mu Rongyun exhaled onto Wu Shuang's increasingly pale face. "While I work, make sure to hold her down."

"Got it. Hurry up and do it."

Something seemed to be departing from her body. Wu Shuang couldn't describe the feeling. Although it was quick, she still felt a tugging pain, as if she wanted to jump up with the departing object. Someone was holding her down, preventing her from moving. She wanted to resist, yet the force holding her down seemed to push back even harder.

Watching Wu Shuang furrow her pretty brows, Mu Rongyun hesitated no more. Not causing her pain was impossible; such slowness would only increase her suffering.

His bloodstained fingers were exposed to the air, and the burning heat cooled down immediately. Wu Shuang felt herself being lifted and then dropped back down, with a cold sensation in her abdomen, like wind drilling inside.

"It'll hurt even more in a while; if you can't bear it, I'll knock you out." Mu Rongyun spoke mechanically as if warning her.

Hua Qingyi gave him an annoyed look and struck Wu Shuang's neck with the palm of his hand, knocking her out immediately. "She's still a police officer; you better hurry up."

People with training typically regain consciousness faster than ordinary people, so Hua Qingyi urged Mu Rongyun to speed up. He didn't want to knock out this woman a second time because she was quite vengeful.

After cleaning his hand with blood-absorbing cotton, Mu Rongyun inserted two fingers into the wound he had just pulled out of, widening the opening to carefully observe the damage inside.

"I can't confirm if there's internal damage." Mu Rongyun withdrew his fingers. After all, trying to pry open human tissue with fingers was strenuous. "Let's stitch her up first and then take her to the hospital for further observation and treatment."

Mu Rongyun's medical kit contained a lot of strange tools, making it heavy. Hua Qingyi glanced into the kit; the sewing needles looked like the ones used at home for quilts, vastly different from those used by Xiao Lin.

"Are you sure you can do it?"

"If not, you do it." Although he said that, Mu Rongyun's hands didn't stop. Hua Qingyi watched his gestures, unwillingly admitting that this man had some medical training. Having seen Xiao Lin's treatments, he knew Mu Rongyun wasn't lying, and the suture knots looked quite professional.

At the final stitch, Mu Rongyun tied a knot and tossed the needle into the box. "Aren't you going to disinfect it?"

"I usually only deal with the dead; they don't need cleaning and aren't afraid of infection."

Hua Qingyi had almost forgotten this man was a forensic scientist. Watching him tear a piece from his shirt to tie up Wu Shuang's wound, he returned the medical kit to the car. When facing the shattered car window, he seemed unbothered.

"This is a government car. Since you're the future heir, charge it to your account. It's about time you got me a replacement; this one's too old."

Hua Qingyi couldn't imagine a scenario where he would sit next to this man. But now, they sat on either side of Wu Shuang, who was still unconscious, each on the ground. (To be continued.
