Special Forces Medic-Chapter 635 - 601: A Night of Defection
Hua Qingyi slept comfortably. He opened his eyes and placed his hands behind his head. Without being disturbed, he sat up after slightly waking up. The window outside was covered by curtains, so it was unclear if it was day or night. He jumped out of bed and pulled aside a curtain; the sky seemed gray, nearing dusk. He opened a window to let some fresh air into the room.
In over an hour, it would be night, and he would likely head to the abandoned brick factory. But how would he get there? Taking a car from the police station would surely alert that old man. Taking a taxi, who knows if anyone would be willing. He found that after waking up, many things needed consideration, and his mind began working like a well-oiled machine. He personally liked this, although sometimes he found it a bit tiresome.
Coming out of the bathroom, he casually picked up the spectacles on the table and lit a cigarette. By this time, the city bureau should have received Director Zhao's report. Had no one shown up yet? He picked up his phone to check, but there were no special messages or calls. He went online to search his emails.
Lian Shuo was at the Xia Family's house with Xia Xue, inquiring about the situation there, preparing for both of them to return to the farmhouse because there were too many people protecting them, causing inconvenience to the Xia Family.
Hua Qingyi thought for a moment and decided to ignore this, just like in the Middle East, where saying nothing might be better. Even communication could be omitted, but with two women together, there shouldn't be any problems.
The night fell quickly. After Hua Qingyi changed into simple clothes, he retrieved a rather special weapon from the bottom of his backpack. By its shape, one couldn't guess its purpose.
Hua Qingyi, unlike Xiao Lin, who liked cold weapons, seemed to enjoy using a scalpel to kill people with his steady hands accustomed to holding one. Personal quirks were abundant among Dragon Soul members, and his was to combine hot weapons with cold ones. Thus, even without bullets, a gun could still be a murder weapon.
Just like the thing in his hand. He tried adjusting it on his wrist, setting the appropriate distance and tightness, and then aimed at his own reflection in the mirror.
Once everything was ready, he took the weapon off and placed it in his small bag. He also found a few sets of Silver Needles and scalpels to put in the bag, along with guns and ammunition. It seemed as if he feared not having enough, stuffing as much as he could. After all, he truly didn't know what the outcome would be when he left.
Darn, it's indeed a bit heavy! Hua Qingyi couldn't help but furrow his handsome brows. He considered himself a brave person, but it seemed Xiao Lin was even more audacious, without a plan. Seeing the remaining weapons and knowing Xiao Lin had taken almost nothing, he just threw himself into danger. It left Hua Qingyi speechless. Now he had to carry the weapons himself, which felt really unfair.
It was seven in the evening. After ensuring he had not forgotten anything, Hua Qingyi leaped onto the window sill. As he was about to jump down, there was a knock at the door. Crouched on the window sill, he glanced back at the door, planning to ignore it.
"Hua Qingyi! Open the door!" Wu Shuang knocked hard on the door, her voice loudly penetrating the door and stabbing into Hua Qingyi's eardrums.
Damn, she sure knows how to pick a time. Hua Qingyi cursed and jumped off the window sill. He carefully placed his backpack aside and opened the door.
"What's with the yelling?" Seeing Wu Shuang's look that could eat him alive, he got angry. The people Wu Shuang had disturbed, including the innkeeper, curiously stared at the two of them. "How did you manage to follow me here? Weren't you supposed to go back?"
"Huh? What?" Wu Shuang was so taken aback by his words that she forgot what she wanted to say.
"Come in, why are you standing at the door?" Hua Qingyi didn't give her any chance to speak, pulling her inside and slamming the door shut in front of others.
"Hey! You..." Wu Shuang had just reacted, ready to explode when Hua Qingyi placed a hand over her mouth.
"Shh!" Hua Qingyi squatted down suddenly, watching the gap under the door. Sure enough, a shadow appeared at the door after a while. He gestured to Wu Shuang, pointing at the shadow. "Darling, I've missed you so much." The sudden words made Wu Shuang's eyes widen. "Tonight, I'll keep you in bed," he said again with a strange tone.
Wu Shuang saw Hua Qingyi giving her looks, roughly understanding his meaning. However, understanding was one thing, knowing what to do was another. Seeing Wu Shuang's reluctance to cooperate, Hua Qingyi raised an eyebrow. The shadow outside the door still lingered, so he hugged Wu Shuang and pushed her against the door. The frightened girl screamed, and when her back hit the door, it made a muffled sound.
"What are you doing!" Wu Shuang silently mouthed, asking Hua Qingyi. The latter just held her, breathing heavily, occasionally knocking his knee against the door to make a thumping sound.
The shadow at the door seemed to hesitate but then slowly retreated. Hua Qingyi, not daring to let his guard down, continued his act for a while longer before sitting down and exhaling.
"You..." Wu Shuang was still not allowed to speak, glaring at Hua Qingyi. The person had already left; why couldn't he let her speak?
"Come with me." Saying this, he pulled Wu Shuang into the bathroom, turning on the shower, closing the shower room door, and letting Wu Shuang sit on the toilet. He dragged a chair in from outside.
"Why were you looking for me?"
"Who are you guarding against?" Wu Shuang had never seen Hua Qingyi act so cautiously. His tension made her nervous too.
"You came for that police officer's case." Hua Qingyi didn't answer Wu Shuang's question. The sound of water hitting the ground was loud, and he lifted his legs on the washbasin. "Why didn't Mu Rongyun follow you?"
"He came, then left!" Wu Shuang felt it was strange sitting on the toilet like that.
"Then there's doubt about the police officer's death." As expected.
"You seemed to know it already."
"Yes, the police station woke me at four in the morning, just to tell me that the police officer we rescued was dead. I told them to hand the case over to you if they couldn't handle it."
"The hospital's death certificate states natural death. Generally, isn't that something simply conveyed to the family? Why did they come to find you?" Wu Shuang found a puzzling point. If the hospital declared it a natural death, why would Director Zhao approach them unnecessarily? Isn't that a self-incrimination of sorts?
"Ah, natural death?" Hua Qingyi sneered. "Looks like someone wants to switch sides overnight."
"What do you mean?" (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
