Spiral of Madness: Ascension of the Villainous Dragon Prince-Chapter 124: Heart, Spirit, And Will [3] — Louis’ New Spirits
Pekorine named Louis’ new Spirits.
"Then the Umbra Serpent is the Celestial Serpent!"
"The Ashen Phoenix is the Heaven Phoenix!"
"And the Abyssal Warden became the Salt Warden!"
The three Spirits—weakened and small as cats—glowed when named. For a moment, Pekorine’s spiritual aura infused them, granting a slight boost of power.
"Hm? This is...?" Louis was intrigued.
"I have the power of Naming," Pekorine explained. "Those I name receive power. For Spirits, the boost is amplified. You’re welcome, Prince Louis."
"Interesting," Louis nodded. He called the spirits back; they returned to Gungnir. "I’ll see what they can do later... but suddenly having three new spirits is great."
And even more—a new Spiral, a new Ability, and an Incarnation! Louis had grown far stronger from fighting that Commander. He wasn’t done with him either; he had already raised him as an Undead, and the result was a rather intelligent one.
"Tell me now, how many Commanders are there?" Louis asked Kael’thas’ zombie.
"...There are two more," the undead sighed, emerging from the shadows and startling the rest. He couldn’t refuse direct orders. "They are General Veynar of the Ninth Legion, and Lady Seraphine of the Dominion’s Inner Circle."
The zombie commander’s voice was hollow, yet his words carried weight. His glowing eyes flickered with faint resistance, but Louis’ Soul Enslavement forced compliance.
Louis narrowed his gaze. "Two more... and stronger than you? Answer with honesty."
Kael’thas’ corpse nodded stiffly. "Yes. General Veynar is a master of the Spiral of the Malevolent Plotter. His Spirit Orb houses the Iron Jackal, the Blood Lotus, and the Storm Leviathan. Lady Seraphine... she is far worse. Her Orb contains the Mirror Shade, the Eternal Widow, and the Crown of Silence. She is one of the Dominion Lord’s young sisters. Hehehe... you will die if you fight her."
The knights shuddered at the names. Even Pekorine’s ears twitched nervously. "Those are Rank 5 Spirits... if they truly exist, these Commanders are leagues above Kael’thas. We would require the help of your father and Helena to fight them, my lord. I suggest you do not be reckless and go after them first."
Louis gripped Gungnir tighter. The golden spear hummed with its new resonance. The Celestial Serpent, Heaven Phoenix, and Salt Warden stirred faintly inside, as if reacting to rival Spirits. "You’re right, but there’s somewhere I need to visit first. The Nameless Streets. Although we’ve helped as much as we can here, that area is being absorbed by a Fantasy Field. We cannot let the Grievance there prosper and do as it pleases."
"A Grievance?!" Tisha asked. "Isn’t that much worse than that general you fought?"
"Yes," Louis nodded. "But... I have a feeling I have the power to counter its authority to an extent..."
However, Louis was also thinking about someone else—someone who could turn everything upside down, someone strong enough to stand toe-to-toe against the strongest beings here.
"Andromeda, I know you’re here. Tell me what’s happening inside the VPI."
"Lord Louis..."
"Why haven’t you told me a single thing?"
"...Lord Thalor Vex has taken over the first floors. Your father and Helena are defending your mother. There’s a stalemate. Lord Thalor seems... to be a Spiralwalker as well. A powerful one."
"Are you kidding me? Another? Is this a Spiralwalker bargain sale or something?!"
"Mirai is in her containment zone. She isn’t aware of what’s happening on the surface yet."
"What?! Are you kidding me?"
"...My lord, please come help your father!"
"I know! But... I can’t. The Gardener, we cannot let that monster roam freely! And... I have to rescue Melisa and Selene... and that orphanage. Mirai... free her. Send her to the surface so we can meet."
"...? You’ve never interacted before! I am not even sure how you know about her—"
"Andromeda! This is not the time to hesitate! I know you’re a Goddess from Yggdrasil acting as our sentient A.I. I know you’re my grandfather’s wife. And I am also aware that you’re technically like my aunt!"
"...? H-How..."
Louis knew all of this from William’s knowledge of the game’s plot and lore.
When the Dragon King was young, he had awakened a Unique Power: the System.
With it, he grew strong quickly and faced the many threats Yggdrasil once endured.
As he grew stronger, the System awakened consciousness and revealed itself as an ancient computer born from the sacrifice of "original humanity."
Embodied into a goddess form by the Dragon King’s power—who forged the System into an Ascendancy Law—she ruled Yggdrasil as the Goddess of Law and Order, governing the Sentient A.I. that allowed entities to grow stronger: the System.
Through Benladra, the System spread to Earth and began affecting those who Awakened and were permitted access—including Louis.
Thus, Andromeda was not merely a computer, and he knew they were related. He was trying to appeal to that bond to make her act against her rules.
"I am begging you... Please, release Mirai and send her to me."
"..."
"I promise you that I have a plan... you’ve seen everything I’ve done. I am not the same as before. I can explain why I’ve changed later, but please—you have to trust me."
"Louis..."
"Is my grandfather watching?"
"...He is. At least now that you’ve begun communicating with me."
"And he can’t do a single thing?!"
"...Before I do anything, he seems to want to speak with you, Louis."
"...?"
Louis and everyone around him were stunned. The enigmatic Dragon King of Yggdrasil had always been a mysterious figure. Tisha and Pekorine knew him closely, but not everyone else. Catrise had seen him only once from afar and never interacted.
In the original story of Sinners Academy, he never interfered...
Yet now, out of nowhere, he wanted to speak directly to Louis?!
It was definitely strange.
But Louis had to seize the chance.
"Fine," Louis nodded. "What does that old man want?"
Andromeda’s voice faded. Silence fell as the group continued moving.
Until...
"So you’re Louis."
"Ah!"
As he heard the voice, Louis suddenly found himself in a completely blank space.
Out of nowhere.
That voice alone carried immense power—enough to warp reality itself.
