Chapter 161: Adrian Is Back!

Author’s POV

Seraphina’s fingers curled tighter into her dress as her heart pounded against her chest. She waited for Stephanie to speak and take her side for once, but nothing came out. Instead, it was her grandmother who stood for her.

Although Seraphina felt pained that there was no parent to take her side but what made her happy was that she was not as alone as she used to be in her past life.

"Grandmother!" Seraphina opened her mouth. "I’m not in the mood to continue this anymore, so please, let’s not talk about it anymore!" She stated firmly and walked out of the room.

Seraphina ran to the garden, the same place where she ran in her last life after being the victim of Melissa’s maliciousness but this time, it was Melissa who was put down and... Seraphina had won this battle.

Her her pounded with the sense of victory as she inhaled and exhaled. "I just hope this never ends! I just want everyone to know that Melissa was a bad person and... I must prove that!"

"Sera, you will!"

A strangely familiar voice echoed from behind as a man in a wheelchair came toward her. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"You!" Sera’s eyes turned wide as she looked at the person in front of her.

"Brother Adrian!" She exclaimed. "How... How are you here and what..." She didn’t know what to say as she was too stunned to speak. "She was too stunned to speak.

"Sera," Adrian once again called her name and spread his arms for a hug. "Won’t you hug your brother.

Tears rolled down Sera’s face as she still stood frozen!

How could it be? I didn’t remember brother being paralyzed like that? What the hell happened? Just what in the world did I miss here?

Adrian didn’t lower his hand and kept his hands suspended in the air, until Seraphina rose her gown and ran toward Adrian, hiding himself in his embrace.

"Brother!" She started sobbing the moment she hugged him. "How... How could you not come all this time to see me?"

"I... I thought you wouldn’t want to see me after what happened to us!" Adrian said in a low tone, still hugging Seraphina securely.

"What?" Seraphina asked in confusion. "But... we have not met yet and then..." she stopped in the mid sentence and pulled herself out of his embrace.

"Yes," Adrian said as if he were confessing something to Seraphina. "I’m just like you!"

"What... What do you mean by that?" Seraphina’s whole body trembled at his words.

Just what Adrian was implying at? How was he the same as her?

Did he also travel back in time?

No... No... No... This couldn’t be possible! How could this happen?

"Why can’t it happen to me when... You are the living proof of that?" Adrian pronounced in a soft and doting tone as if it were just a casual thing.

In her past life, as long as Seraphina remembered, Adrian was the only person who was not interested either in Melissa or her!

He had just kept his distance from both of them and never cared much about the family.

But when the family was destroyed... He... What did he do?

Seraphina felt as if her head was about to split into two. She stared at Adrian for a while and then ran away from there.

Seraphina ran and ran until there was no energy left in her body.

"Hah... Hah..." She huffed and puffed, but she didn’t know what to do anymore. "He... He too travelled back in time with me?"

"What?" Lucien’s voice came from behind. "Travel back in time? What does this mean?"

Seraphina’s whole body stiffened as she turned back to look at the person, who had suddenly appeared and even heard the secret that she had wanted to hide.

"No... Nothing!" Seraphina stammered. "How... How are you here?" She answered Lucien’s question with a question.

Lucien stood there and said nothing. He looked at Seraphina’s stunned reaction for a split second and then turned to look at the car that he had parked a little further from where they were standing.

"It’s simple, I followed you here," he replied casually as if he had not heard the most absurd thing in this world.

"Si... Since when?" Seraphina’s face had turned as white as a sheet. "Since when were you following me?"

Lucien didn’t know what to say at the look she was giving him. So, he just walked to her and held Sera’s hand in his. "What is it that is making you so rough on yourself? I... I ran after you the moment you left the party hall, and was looking for you everywhere then... I found you running in the middle of the road, even if the cars were honking like crazy from behind."

"Re... Really!" Seraphina muttered. "Le... Let’s go." She said and walked toward the car without saying anything.

But what she had not known was the fact that Lucien might have told the truth, but it was not the whole truth.

Lucien was telling the truth when he said that he had followed Seraphina out of the banquet hall, but he hid the fact that he had heard and seen the entire conversation and the little moment that took place between Adrian and Seraphina.

"Why did you run all the way here in such a heavy gown, no less!?" Lucien repeated his question once again, feigning ignorance of whatever had happened.

"I... I just saw brother Adrian!" Seraphina opened her mouth and breathed deeply. "He... He was in a wheelchair... But why? How?"

Lucien was a little taken aback when he heard Seraphina telling him about her meeting with Adrian.

"I don’t know as well... I had been looking for him for ages but..."
