Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!-Chapter 23: Two Options, Choose for Yourself
Jiayi followed Huo Zhenyang to Huo Garden, where Butler Ou had been waiting at the entrance for quite some time. Upon seeing the two arrive, he hurriedly greeted them:
"Young Master and Miss Luo are here, the old master has been waiting for just the two of you."
Throughout the journey and up until now, Jiayi couldn’t believe it.
He had been so resolute in his decision, but now he was actually willing to come to Huo Garden for dinner.
Does this mean... he was persuaded by her last night?
It felt like she had completed an impossible mission.
She could actually persuade this chief Boss, as cold and hard as steel.
Beyond her astonishment, Jiayi felt somewhat elated; it seems her eloquence and persuasive powers were not too shabby either.
Once inside Huo Garden’s dining room, the clear and luxurious Carrara marble relief floor, Italian crystal chandelier, and the dining table that had been cleaned and was waiting for the dishes to be served welcomed the two of them.
Huo Tianpei was seated in the master’s seat, awaiting the arrival of his eldest son.
Yao Zhenru sat to the old master’s left, with a barely concealed impatience on her face.
Huo Zhenxuan too was supposed to join them for the meal, but he had been beaten up yesterday, and his injuries hadn’t yet healed. He didn’t dare to inform Huo Tianpei and Yao Zhenru, so he had to bottle up his frustration, claiming he had an accidental fall and was still lying in his bedroom.
"He didn’t show up for the earlier birthday banquet, and even today he’s dragging his feet just for a meal. Old Master, I’m not criticizing your beloved son, but isn’t this a bit too disrespectful?" Yao Zhenru’s tone was neither hot nor cold.
Huo Tianpei checked the time; it had already been ten minutes past their agreed time.
His son had previously had his secretary call back, saying he would come for the meal. Could it be—that he’s changed his mind again?
After all, this eldest son had always been known for his capricious and unpredictable behavior.
The old master’s expression turned sour, and Yao Zhenru took note. She was about to sneer when she heard footsteps:
"We’re late."
A tall man dressed in a black casual suit that accentuated his striking physique led a girl dressed in a light blue dress; the couple resembled two beautiful figures in a harmonious and pleasing scene.
Huo Tianpei’s anger faded, replaced by pleasure in an instant: "Old Ou, why haven’t you brought chairs for the young master and Miss Luo? Come on, serve the dishes!"
The two of them sat down facing each other, hand in hand.
Yao Zhenru’s voice rose, tinged with laughter yet edged with a blade: "The old master has been waiting half a day for the young master, almost wearing his eyes out with looking. What’s made you arrive just now, young master?"
Jiayi glanced at Yao Zhenru, this woman was always looking for trouble at every turn.
"Yes, is there something the matter, Zhenyang?" Huo Tianpei also asked.
"Mhm, got held up with some important business at the company, which made me a little late," the man replied with a calm and straightforward tone.
"Oh, what could be more important than having a meal with the old master? Besides, once you’ve promised, you should be punctual. Moreover, as the CEO of the Huo Group, what important matter can’t be handled by your subordinates, that you must do it yourself?" Yao Zhenru’s voice was very friendly, yet every word was aimed like a knife, clearly implying that Huo Zhenyang didn’t truly want to come back for the meal.
Huo Zhenyang crossed his hands and rested them at his sharp and handsome jaw, facing the old master with a hint of a smile in his eyes: "Indeed, it’s very important, because it’s something that Dad would also like very much."
"Oh?" Huo Tianpei’s expression relaxed, and his eyes brightened with curiosity.
Huo Zhenyang passed over a folder.
Huo Tianpei took it, looked through it, and his expression grew even more pleased. He looked up, "You’re preparing to move Jiayi into headquarters?"
What? What’s happening? Why am I being dragged into this again! Jiayi, who had been idly watching the drama unfold, suddenly heard her name, and her eyes widened.
"Yes." Huo Zhenyang’s large hand curled around the girl’s small one, gripping it tightly as he spoke indifferently, "I’ve told Dad before. Jiayi is from out of town, her parents have passed away, and now that she is with me, she doesn’t want to return to her hometown. She plans to live in G City. We’ve talked it over, and it might as well be within the Huo Group."
Talked it over? When did you discuss it with me, Boss! Jiayi struggled a bit, but he held her hand even tighter.
"Good, very good!" Huo Tianpei was extremely happy. His son’s decision was actually what he had intended to announce at the family dinner today.
Huo Tianpei wanted this girl to stay in G City, to not go back. His son having her join the Huo Group was exactly what he had hoped for.
Not only did he get along well with this girl, but more so, the old master felt that she could potentially manipulate and change his domineering and aloof eldest son!
Today’s return home for dinner by his eldest son wasn’t this proof?
In the past, his son had been autocratic, never listening to anyone.
But his son was willing to listen to Jiayi.
Seeing that the old master had agreed, Jiayi was even more speechless. Being this man’s fake girlfriend was one thing, but why should she be upgraded to his employee? Isn’t it that she had never seen how he treated those subordinates with an imperial air? Who could bear that, she was not stupid!
Just as Jiayi was about to speak, the man leaned down, quickly pressed close to her ear, and chuckled softly, "If you don’t want to go to the Huo Group, then just stay at home every day. The choice is yours."
He’s too cunning! Jiayi bit her lip and eventually kept quiet.
Then she thought further, it might be good to work and meet more people. Perhaps she could uncover her identity sooner without relying on him?
Yao Zhenru was anxious though. Even her own son couldn’t enter headquarters, so why should an outsider: "Elder Master, only the cream of the crop can enter the Huo Group, especially headquarters. It’s filled with formidable people. We don’t know what Ms. Luo’s capabilities are, so how can she be directly transferred to headquarters? If she makes a mistake, it would affect the whole company, not something that can be fixed by the young master’s favoritism! At the very least, she should start at one of the branch companies!"
Huo Tianpei frowned slightly. Although he didn’t like Yao Zhenru’s constant nagging, he had to admit that what she said made some sense.
The business world changes lightning fast, shrouded in uncertainty. Jiayi was new, young, and had no qualifications at the Huo Group. Promoting her to headquarters right away would certainly arouse the jealousy of her colleagues, and wasn’t good for her. Even with his son’s protection, she would still suffer.
"Jiayi, would you be willing to start at a more junior position?" Huo Tianpei’s tone was gentle.
If she started at headquarters, wouldn’t she have to face this man every day?
Thinking about his attitude towards subordinates, Jiayi got the chills.
She had agreed to go to the Huo Group to facilitate her investigation into her background, not really to make money. Of course, she nodded and crisply replied, "Elder Master, I’m willing. Just like what this auntie just said, let me start at one of the Huo Group’s branch companies."
Yao Zhenru listened to her call the elder master "Uncle," but referred to herself as "auntie," clearly not recognizing her as the legitimate wife of the Huo Family, and she was so angry her face turned purple, and her nose almost went crooked.
Huo Tianpei smiled and nodded, then looked at his son, "What do you think?"
A trace of displeasure flitted through Huo Zhenyang’s eyes, but since the girl had already spoken and the elder master had agreed, he replied indifferently:
"Then I’ll have my secretary amend the contract later. She can start at one of the subsidiary companies."
