Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!-Chapter 24 The Sock Is Torn
Jiayi’s position was at the Huo Group’s subsidiary, J&J Cosmetics Company, where she served as a marketing department assistant.
This man, he was the typical capitalist, a vampire, giving her not a moment’s preparation or rest. Merely two days later, Jiayi began her official journey of working at Huo Group.
Before signing the employment contract, Jiayi had discussed a condition with Huo Zhenyang.
While working at the subsidiary, she didn’t want anyone to reveal her identity as the president’s woman.
How things had developed to this point, entangled with this man to such a degree, had already exceeded Jiayi’s expectations.
If her relationship with him were to advance further, she didn’t know what would happen.
This man always gave her a dangerous feeling.
If it was possible to maintain some distance, it was best to do so.
Besides, the female employees at Huanglong Mountain hunting ground sent him longing glances, which she had witnessed with her own eyes!
She guessed that many female employees of the Huo Group must regard this top Boss as their idol, right?
During this time, she had been glued to her computer screen watching plenty of palace intrigue dramas. Would the women of J&J also trip her up if they knew she was the lofty CEO’s girlfriend?
Humph, why should she invite trouble?
Huo Zhenyang had been somewhat surprised when he heard her request. Any other woman would have clamored to broadcast it everywhere, but this girl was actually treating him like a fly, fearing he couldn’t be avoided enough.
However, he still agreed.
Anyway, no matter how crafty she was, she would not escape the palm of his hand.
Just let the girl play her games.
On her first day at work, Jiayi, fearing she would be late, had Dummy set a string of ten alarm calls the night before, lest that man find another opportunity to scold her. Things were different now; she was an employee of his subsidiary. If he wanted to teach her a lesson, it would be all too easy!
After finishing the lovingly prepared breakfast by Auntie Li and changing into a suit, Jiayi descended the stairs.
George was already waiting in the car downstairs. He picked up Jiayi and headed straight to the Xiongchi Building in the business district where the cosmetics company was located.
Jiayi had not even wanted to take the car in the first place. If her colleagues at J&J saw a new junior employee arriving at work in a luxury car complete with a personal driver and bodyguard, wouldn’t they be scared to death?
But on this point, Huo Zhenyang insisted very much and wouldn’t budge, so Jiayi had no choice but to compromise.
However, where there is a policy, there is a countermeasure.
Half a station away from the cosmetics company, Jiayi asked George to stop.
"What’s the matter, Miss Luo?" George slowed down, although puzzled.
"From now on, just drop me off here when I go to work, and pick me up here after work. I’m trying to lose weight, so I need to exercise a bit more."
Many white-collar workers in G City did this to maintain their figure, deliberately parking far away and then walking several kilometers to and from work.
Without much thought, George complied with her instructions.
Since she had never been to the company before and was not familiar with the area, Jiayi took a wrong turn at one point. Worried about being late on the first day, she quickened her pace and almost broke into a jog once she found the right direction.
In her rush, her high heels clicked against a stone, and Jiayi’s body wobbled as she quickly grabbed onto the nearby flower bed railing, tearing her stockings.
There was no time to change now.
Jiayi had to continue walking forward and finally arrived at the company ten minutes before starting time, letting out a sigh of relief. It seemed she would have to start waking up earlier from tomorrow on.
J&J was a joint venture between Huo Family and a major French brand.
Upon entering, she was greeted by impeccably made-up, fashionably dressed female employees, each looking like models from the pages of a fashion magazine.
Truly worthy of being an employee at a high-end brand cosmetics company.
Jiayi lowered her head and glanced at her outfit, feeling somewhat intimidated.
She was wearing a very conventional light blue suit with no distinctive features, even somewhat old-fashioned and dull, entirely out of sync with the atmosphere of this top-tier cosmetics company at the forefront of fashion.
The manager in charge of new employee orientation, a woman in her thirties with exquisitely applied makeup and wearing a pair of red thick-framed glasses, looked very trendy. Upon seeing Jiayi report for duty, she sized her up and down with a slight frown on her brow but said nothing.
Manager Cui took her to her seat, handed her some materials, and instructed her in a matter-of-fact manner, "Take a look at these first, get yourself familiar with the company’s operations and business."
Jiayi had just taken the materials when she heard a rustling noise coming from the opposite seat.
"Hey, is the ripped tights look in fashion this year?"
"Wow, she actually came to work wearing torn pantyhose. If it were me, I’d rather take them off and go bare-legged than wear them, it’s so embarrassing."
"Don’t be like that. Just look at this little sister’s outfit, she obviously doesn’t get fashion, haha..."
Only then did Manager Cui notice that Jiayi’s pantyhose were snagged. If before she had only frowned, now she was visibly displeased, "What’s the matter with you? What we value most at J&J is the image of our employees. We spend millions each year on employee makeovers and clothing allowances. Even though you were referred here by someone from headquarters, you can’t come to work looking so shabby on your first day! Every client, supplier, and partner of J&J is a city elite or a leader in their field. You represent J&J, and this could ruin the company’s image!"
Where was the shabbiness? It was just a pair of pantyhose that got accidentally snagged. Jiayi refused to believe that these women, who wore pantyhose so often, had never snagged their stockings, but she had to stand up immediately:
"I’m sorry, Manager Cui, they got snagged on the way here, and it wasn’t convenient to change them on the main road. I’ll go to the restroom and take them off in a bit."
"Don’t give me so many excuses! Be more careful next time!" Manager Cui reprimanded her, then felt a bit of a headache. What kind of person had they recruited? She didn’t even pay attention to her image, "If this continues, even if you were referred by someone from the company, I will fire you!"
The female employees around whispered among themselves and cast pitiful or contemptuous glances at Jiayi.
Once Manager Cui left, a young girl next to Jiayi slid over in her chair and whispered, "Don’t be afraid, she’s known as the company’s tiger mom. The more polite and courteous you are to her, the less she cares about you."
Jiayi stuck out her tongue, and the girl already offered a smile as she extended her hand, "My name is Tang En’en, and I’m also a marketing assistant."
"My last name is Luo, you can call me Jiayi." Jiayi shook her hand and also smiled. It was clear that the girl in front of her had a cheerful disposition.
"Hey, were you introduced by someone from headquarters? It’s tough to get into J&J, and they haven’t been hiring recently."
Jiayi quickly replied, "Uh-huh, through an acquaintance who knows an ordinary employee at headquarters, and that’s how I was introduced to J&J."
Those from headquarters, each one had a strong background; there was no such thing as an ’ordinary employee.’
Even if there were ’ordinary employees,’ could they get someone a job at J&J?
The Huo Group, whether it’s positions at the headquarters or at branch offices, always had people fighting tooth and nail for them!
Seeing that Jiayi seemed to have something she couldn’t disclose, Tang En’en graciously closed her mouth and stopped inquiring.
Work hours quickly passed by.
After looking at the materials and struggling to memorize the history of J&J, Jiayi’s head was swimming. She checked her stockings and headed for the restroom.
The J&J restroom was bright and imposing, fragrant with freshener, and had a PA come in every ten minutes to clean and tidy up.
She found an empty stall, Jiayi went in, lifted her skirt, and raised her leg onto the flushing toilet. Just as she had taken off one leg of the pantyhose, there was a soft knocking at the door.
"Someone’s in here," Jiayi casually called out.
The knocking continued.
This was strange; aside from herself, there was no one else in the restroom, and all the stalls were vacant.
Jiayi frowned and opened the door with one hand.
A gust of wind rushed in, and the figure of a tall, sturdy man stepped in and quickly locked the door behind him.
