Chapter 62: Chapter 62 Miss, Be Aware

Samuel had arranged for a credit card and some emergency cash to be included in the luggage sent to her.

However, once she arrived on Suwang Island, Charlie was there to greet her, and everything regarding food and accommodation had been taken care of, so she didn’t really have any opportunity to spend money.

In G City, despite working for JJ, she never received a salary, although that man also gave her a card. The rules on how to use it were crystal clear, probably because he had arranged restrictions with the bank concerning its usage.

Some expenses couldn’t be handled with the card, likely a measure to prevent her from thinking about running away, right?

Therefore, Jiayi’s wallet was still quite full now, definitely more free to use money than in G City.

But having money on her now didn’t mean she was willing to be treated like an idiot and ripped off by her boss.

Putting down the crystal ball, Jiayi turned around and continued to the next stall.

The lean vendor hastily called out, "Beautiful lady, don’t go--"

Jiayi didn’t hear him, her figure already merging into the crowd.

A vicious light flashed across the small, triangular eyes of the vendor.

A few nearby vendors gathered around and casually asked in the local language, "What, no deal was made?"

The vendor snorted and waved his hand to bring the group together, whispering, "That lady is dressed pretty well; she shouldn’t be poor, and she’s alone... So, do you want to make a score?"

Suwang Island is one of the largest tourist cities in Southeast Asia. However, its economy mainly depends on tourism and is not very developed. Security has always been somewhat chaotic, and the police force is not very effective. It is said they are in cahoots with the local gangs, so there are often news of tourists getting robbed.

The vendors on the surface are doing small business in the night market but are actually local thugs.

Upon hearing the vendor’s suggestion, the others displayed joy and nodded eagerly.

-

After wandering the night market for a while and buying a few souvenirs to bring back for Auntie Li and Tang En’en, Jiayi was a bit tired.

Fortunately, Miranda Beach, the most famous beach on Suwang Island, was nearby.

Jiayi looked at the map and made her way there.

Passing through a small forest, she saw a vast expanse of the sea spread before her eyes.

Under the silver moonlight, the lightly salty sea breeze caressed her face, and the deep blue waves gently swayed, lapping against the beach.

There weren’t many tourists on this part of the beach, only a few locals strolling around.

She took off her shoes, carried them in her hand, and walked along the shore for a while, letting the night waves splash against her pale, delicate ankles, feeling very relaxed.

The foreign seascape had an invisible, strong charm that made her linger and almost not want to return.

It was only when she looked up that she realized the few remaining people on the beach had all left.

Jiayi bit her lip in self-mockery, bent down, and prepared to put on her shoes and head back to the hotel.

Before she could put her shoes on, several pairs of feet appeared in her line of sight, marching quickly towards her, their approach aggressive.

The direction, coming straight at her.

Jiayi’s heart skipped a beat. She looked up and saw clearly that they were three local men, dark-skinned, lean, and short. One of them looked very familiar.

It seemed to be—the vendor from before who hadn’t made a sale?

With a bad feeling, Jiayi slipped on her shoes and quickly walked away in the opposite direction.

The men followed closely, quickening their pace.

Jiayi could almost hear the heavy breathing of the men due to their accelerated footsteps. Gritting her teeth, she lifted her skirt and ran swiftly.

The three men also quickened their pace, pursuing her.

The long skirt she wore for nighttime travel impeded her running speed, Jiayi felt a rush of hot breath behind her ear, someone reached out, grabbing her shoulder.

She was forcefully twisted around, lost her balance, and fell sitting on the sandy beach, but she steadied her mind and coldly faced the three men, saying in English,

"What do you want?"

A skinny man pointed at her handbag and sneered, "Miss, be sensible."

Jiayi held her breath. Indeed, she had encountered the local thugs.

Previously in G City, she often saw news on the internet and knew that the public security in Southeast Asia wasn’t great, but she hadn’t expected to encounter it herself so soon.

Jiayi tried not to panic, throwing both her handbag and the souvenirs she just bought over to them, "Take these, that’s all the money I have. The bank card has the original six-digit PIN! I’m just a clerk here on a business trip, take it and please leave quickly!"

The girl was quite straightforward in protecting herself, and the few men didn’t make it harder for her. They picked up the handbag, quickly turned it upside down, took out all the cash, and stuffed it into their pockets, then securely kept the bank card.

Two of the men were about to leave quickly, but one with a narrow face and a monkey-like appearance didn’t move away promptly. He looked at the young woman on the beach, a sinister glint flickered in his small eyes.

"Why aren’t you leaving? Hurry up, be careful someone might come over." The two accomplices urged.

That man, however, rubbed his chin and smiled with a leer, "In the dead of night, who else would come by? Just leave like this, are you guys stupid?"

The two accomplices immediately realized what was on his mind; they wanted to rob her and then commit sexual assault.

They were local thugs, often robbing lone tourists.

If they came across attractive female tourists, committing sexual offenses wasn’t unheard of.

Reminded by their companion, both men looked at the girl and indeed, she was a beauty; they began to snicker lasciviously.

Jiayi had been subtly moving backward while the men were searching her handbag. Seeing their ill-intentions now, she clearly understood what they intended to do.

She grabbed a handful of sand and threw it at them swiftly, then got up with the help of the ground and ran towards the small woods without looking back!

Behind the small woods was the city’s main road, and once on the road, there would be pedestrians!

The three men spat out the sand, cursing in the local language, "Damn! The girl is quite fierce!" While cursing, they chased after Jiayi.

Jiayi spread her legs and ran towards the road on the other side of the woods.

The three men didn’t expect this girl to run so fast and couldn’t catch up momentarily. They exchanged glances and immediately dispersed, one to the left and one to the right to encircle her.

The three thugs were locals and of course, they knew the terrain very well.

At the same time, Jiayi heard the faint sound of a car horn ahead and was delighted, knowing she was close to the main road and she quickened her pace.

Just then, two gaunt figures suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking her path!

"Hehe, the girl runs really fast, almost broke our waists chasing you. How are you going to compensate us now?" one of them said, panting, with a tone that was undeniably sleazy.

Jiayi’s eyes darted about, and seizing the opportunity, she quickly turned around, heading in another direction,

but she hadn’t run far when she almost bumped into the third man who had been blocking her path from behind.

Turning her head back, the other two men were closing in as well.

With no way out, encircled from both front and back, she was trapped.

Jiayi’s forehead was dripping with cold sweat, but she still tried to steady her voice, "If you don’t harm me, I can now take you back to the hotel and withdraw more money for you."
