Chapter 812: Eight hundred and ten, Cleansing Marrow

Luo Shu led Luo Zheng to the guestroom, "If you can’t bear it, just call us." This night would be a painful one for him, but after it passed, he would be like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, entering a whole new world.

"I will definitely get through this." Luo Zheng looked at Luo Shu, his eyes brimming with determination and confidence.

Luo Shu smiled, lightly patting Luo Zheng on the shoulder before turning to leave.

As soon as Luo Shu closed the door, Luo Zheng hurriedly placed the Elixir in his mouth, then sat down on the floor. His sister and brother-in-law had said it would be extremely painful; he might roll off the bed in pain later.

Quietly waiting for the pain to come, as time ticked by, an agonizing sensation like needle pricks surged from all over his body.

Gradually, the pain intensified, followed by a scorching heat deep within his body, as if he were being burned by Fire. Before he could adjust, another wave of tearing pain struck him, an intertwining of agony assailing his limbs and bones.

Luo Zheng clenched his teeth tightly, enduring the torment. His veins bulged out due to the intense pain. This pain was so intense he wished to pass out, yet he couldn’t at all. It was beyond human tolerance. But, no matter how painful, he couldn’t give up because he understood that strength required enduring this agony.

After an indeterminate period, Luo Zheng felt completely drained, with nothing but pain. Suddenly, he heard a cracking sound, as if something within his body had burst open. Then, the pain began to subside slowly, replaced by a comfortable sensation, warm and cozy as if he were enveloped in warm water.

Luo Zheng opened his eyes, a bright smile spread across his face; he must have succeeded, right?

Smelling a foul odor, Luo Zheng wrinkled his brow, sniffing around until he realized it was coming from his own body. Looking down, he saw his skin coated with a layer of dark filth, the source of the unpleasant smell.

He hastily stood up and strode towards the bathroom.

After thoroughly cleaning himself, Luo Zheng stepped out of the bathroom. He remembered the layer of filth on his body and recalled a memory from when they had just moved out of Luo Family Village, living in Aunt Chen’s home with his sister and Second Sister.

One early morning, he had seen similar black filth on his sister’s body. It wasn’t as much as this time, but thinking back, it must have been the same thing. It seemed his sister had begun her True Cultivation then.

Lifting his eyes to the wall clock, he saw it was already 5:30 in the morning.

He smiled happily and walked out of the room. He planned to make breakfast for his sister and brother-in-law to tell them that he had successfully passed the first test.

Entering the kitchen, he saw Lu Hanmo already busy at work, "Brother-in-law, why are you up so early?"

"Used to it!" Lu Hanmo’s hands kept moving. He used to get up at five every morning for early training, so the habit has stuck with him.

"I’ll help you," offered Luo Zheng, stepping forward to assist Lu Hanmo. His heart was full of joy, and suddenly he didn’t feel as afraid of his brother-in-law as before. After spending the previous day together, he realized that his brother-in-law was a cool exterior but warm interior kind of person.

"Now you can officially start training. Once the holiday is over and you return to the Guard School, Ling Tianyu will no longer be a match for you," said Lu Hanmo as he placed the washed rice into the rice cooker, added water, and pressed the start button.

"Brother-in-law, what is this?" Luo Zheng asked curiously, looking at the rice cooker.

"It’s a rice cooker, used to cook rice. Just put in the rice and water," explained Lu Hanmo. As for where the rice cooker came from, he naturally wouldn’t reveal it. After all, it was related to Shushu’s secret.

"Amazing, this is the first time I’ve seen one," Luo Zheng said in awe, inspecting the novel household appliances in the kitchen. He didn’t notice these things the last time he came in to take some juice.

"What would you like to eat?" Lu Hanmo, having plugged in the rice cooker, asked Luo Zheng. They had everything in their fridge, and if not, his Storage Ring was filled with plenty of food.

"Whatever sister and brother-in-law eat, I’ll eat the same," Luo Zheng replied with a smile. He wasn’t picky.

Seeing nothing else in the kitchen he could help with, Luo Zheng said, "Brother-in-law, I’m going to run a few laps outside." He was eager to see if he felt any different after last night’s ordeal.

"Go ahead," Lu Hanmo responded with a smile.

"Then I’m off," Luo Zheng said, nodding with a smile and waving to Lu Hanmo before turning and stepping out the door.

Outside, Luo Zheng began to run around the guards’ members courtyard. Even though there wasn’t a track field, it was sizable, and running a full circuit was almost the same as running on a track field.

After three or four laps, Luo Zheng felt nothing unusual, his smile growing even wider. At the Guard School, they had to run twenty laps each day, and by the third lap, his body would usually begin to show signs of stress, like an increased heartbeat and heavier breathing. But today, he didn’t feel any of that at all.
