Chapter 813: Eight hundred and eleven, reunion

Thinking of this, Luo Zheng quickened his pace even more, running lap after lap around the Guard’s Members Courtyard.

He didn’t know how many laps he had run until the sun rose, and only then did he slowly stop, his face beaming with joy as he walked towards Luo Shu’s home. Now he had truly felt the increase in his strength; he didn’t feel the slightest bit of fatigue after running so many laps. Although he hadn’t officially started True Cultivation, he had already experienced the powerful effects cultivation could bring.

Just as he was about to push the door and enter Luo Shu’s home, a young voice came from behind him, "Big brother, who are you?"

Luo Zheng turned to look and saw a couple, leading a seven or eight-year-old boy, standing behind him. "Are you here to go in?" They looked like they were here to visit Sister and Brother-in-law.

"We’re here to see Uncle Lu. Are you here to see Uncle Lu too?" Yhan Cheng looked at Luo Zheng, his big eyes filled with a hint of wariness. He hadn’t seen Luo Zheng before and didn’t know if he could be a bad person. Although he didn’t seem like one, bad people don’t wear the label "bad person" on their faces. The sister who took Mother’s money that day didn’t seem like a baddie, but she did something bad.

"I am a family member of Uncle Lu." As Luo Zheng spoke, he pushed open the courtyard door and called inside, "Sister, Brother-in-law, you have visitors."

Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo came out of the house and saw Yhan Zhan and his wife and their child, smiled at them, and nodded, "Come inside and take a seat." Today is New Year’s Eve, and all military members of the Guard District aren’t required to train on this day. They only needed to gather together in the evening for the New Year’s Eve dinner, watch the performance team’s show, and have a simple sparring session with the hundred students from the Guard School.

The guests seated themselves inside the house, and Lu Hanmo went to the kitchen to fetch a thermos of hot water and several teacups, pouring tea for himself, Yhan Zhan, and Luo Zheng, and handed Lin Helian and her son a bottle of yogurt each. Now, the only distinction was between guests and hosts, without any ranking or status to consider. He didn’t mind these things either.

"Captain, we came to deliver New Year’s goods. You’ve been so kind to Xiao Cheng, and your Sister-in-Law has been so good to Xiao Lian. We really don’t know how to repay your kindness, so please don’t dislike these items," said Yhan Zhan.

"Yes, you must accept them; otherwise, we wouldn’t feel right," Lin Helian also chimed in.

"Alright," Luo Shu nodded. Since it was their kind gesture, she naturally wouldn’t turn it away because in her heart, they were friends.

"Uncle Lu, do I need to train today?" Yhan Cheng licked the yogurt from the corner of his mouth and looked at Lu Hanmo. He liked training with Uncle Lu even though his training was tough.

"Rest today and tomorrow. Training resumes on the second," Lu Hanmo said with a smile. Yhan Cheng was ambitious and serious, so he quite liked the boy.

"Oh!" Yhan Cheng nodded, a bit disappointed. He really wanted to train with Uncle every day.

Yhan Zhan patted Yhan Cheng’s head affectionately, a look of pride and relief in his eyes. Every soldier in the Guard knew how strict Lu Hanmo could be during training. Although he knew Lu Hanmo wouldn’t be as harsh on Xiao Cheng as he was on the soldiers, it was quite impressive that Xiao Cheng could withstand Lu Hanmo’s training.

The telephone on the table rang, and Lu Hanmo stood up, walked over to the phone, and picked it up.

"Is this Captain Lu?" A middle-aged man’s voice came from the phone.

"Mhm!" Lu Hanmo, recognizing the voice, felt it sounded somewhat familiar.

"Captain Lu, this is the Guard District’s switchboard. Your parents and friends have all arrived at the Guard District."

"I see," Lu Hanmo put down the phone and looked at Luo Shu, "Shushu, my parents are here."

"Then we’ll take our leave first," Yhan Zhan stood up to say.

Lin Helian and Yhan Cheng also stood up.

"Wait a moment!" Luo Shu turned and walked into the kitchen, and soon came out with a big bag of things.

She handed it to Lin Helian, "Sister Yhan, these are some of Jinchen’s local specialties, please take them."

Lin Helian hurriedly declined, "This really can’t be done, how can we take this?" They came to deliver gifts, not to receive them.

"If you don’t take it, then you are not treating us as friends. In that case, take back the gifts you brought," Luo Shu deliberately said with a stern face.

Lin Helian looked towards Yhan Zhan, who nodded his head. Since Luo Shu had put it that way, they obviously couldn’t refuse to accept.

"Alright then! Thank you!" Lin Helian stretched out her hand and took a bag of items from Luo Shu.

The group walked out of the house together—Luo Shu, Lu Hanmo, and Luo Zheng—heading toward the parking lot.

Before they reached the parking lot, they saw Zhu Huizhen and her group approaching them.

Apart from Zhu Huizhen and Lu Zhengyang, Mo Shaoze and Shen Anning also came along, which was somewhat unexpected for Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo.

"Hanmo, Luo Shu," Zhu Huizhen spotted the two and quickly ran over. She had always wanted to visit Luo Shu but was afraid that her visit might disturb the couple’s life so she had been holding back from coming over.

"Dad! Mom!" Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo called out to Zhu Huizhen and Lu Zhengyang, who had just approached.

"Uncle! Aunt!" Luo Zheng also greeted the two.

"Luo Zheng is here, too!" Lu Zhengyang said cheerfully, looking at Luo Zheng.

Luo Zheng smiled and nodded, "I came over yesterday."

"That’s great, we haven’t celebrated the New Year together yet, it’s more lively with more people," Lu Zhengyang said with a smile.

Mo Shaoze walked up to Lu Hanmo with a smile and playfully punched Lu Hanmo’s chest, "Are you surprised and thrilled?" He was on leave this time and upon hearing that Lu Hanmo’s parents were going to celebrate the New Year at Lu Hanmo’s place, he felt the urge to join. It had been a long time since he had seen Lu Hanmo and he really missed him. Sometimes, he especially missed the days when they were both in the same Guard District.

"I really didn’t expect you to come," Lu Hanmo said, returning the gesture with a playful punch to Mo Shaoze’s chest. Men have their unique ways of greeting, sometimes quite peculiar, yet they convey a deep sense of camaraderie.

"I have some good news to tell you this time; Anning and I have decided to get married on the 18th of next month," Mo Shaoze put his arm around Lu Hanmo’s neck, grinning with happiness. In his eagerness to marry Anning sooner, he had proposed several times before the girl finally agreed.

"Congratulations!" Lu Hanmo said with a laugh. Mo Shaoze was his childhood playmate, friend, and comrade-in-arms; seeing him find his happiness, he was genuinely happy for him.

"Luo Shu, can I touch your belly?" Shen Anning asked, gazing at Luo Shu’s belly with a look of anticipation. She had seen pregnant women before, but she really wanted to touch Luo Shu’s belly. Mo Shaoze told her that Luo Shu was expecting twins.

"You can," Luo Shu said with a smile. She herself often touched her mother’s belly in the past; it was truly a novel feeling. Perhaps Shen Anning felt the same way.

Hearing Luo Shu’s permission, Shen Anning gently placed her hand on Luo Shu’s belly, and as soon as she did, she felt a little bulge touching the palm of her hand as if probing or playfully interacting with her.

"Is this a little foot? It kicked my palm, so lively," Shen Anning’s face revealed a look of astonishment. She had touched pregnant bellies before, but never had a baby kicked her palm immediately as she put her hand on it like this time.

"I want to touch it too," Zhu Huizhen had been wanting to touch it for a while but didn’t dare to ask because there were too many people around.

Placing her hand on Luo Shu’s belly, Zhu Huizhen also felt the baby move, "My smart grandchildren are really clever, they knew it as soon as I touched," she laughed heartily.
