SSS Awakening: Creating Primordial Beasts To Be My Summons-Chapter 30: Cohen’s Mercy and Brutality
In the Gate Hall, a gate stood tall and wide, its black and white surface rippling violently.
Five Awakened stood in a semi-circle formation, tugging on a rope attached to the limbs and neck of a monster that was halfway out of the gate.
The beast resisted, releasing roars that would leave any weak onlookers confused.
But the men persisted, muscles straining as they dragged it forward.
Cohen and Farid approached the group with a calm pace.
’I have the chance to tame a winged beast?!’ he said.
As Cohen drew closer, the creature’s full form emerged from the Gate—and it was far intriguing than he expected.
It was a large, lean creature with dark brown skin, its wide wings stretching from its fingers down along its sides.
Its orange eyes glowed faintly beneath a narrow, fanged jaw, and the same orange veins ran through its thin wings.
Blood-dripping scars marred its body, telling tales of the battle it had endured.
Without hesitation, he activated his appraisal.

Race: Dark Swooper
Tier: Rare
Description: It is an ambush predator that prefers short bursts of flight, gliding from high ground before swooping down on its target. Because it can’t stay airborne for long, it relies on timing and precision, often retreating to elevated perches to strike again.
Level: 27
Traits:
[Dive Strike – when descending from height at full speed, its talons carry force far beyond its frame, the momentum of the dive multiplying the impact dramatically]
[Streamlined Frame – its body offers almost no resistance in a dive, allowing it to reach speeds most aerial creatures can’t match and making it nearly impossible to intercept mid-descent]
Skills:
[Swooper’s Shadow – when at a high altitude above its target, it can manipulate its shadow to either bind or attack its target.]

"A Level 27 monster..."
Cohen willed his status to appear, checking how much NP he had and gauging how much he might expend.
[NP: 1578]
’This was why I didn’t want to waste my NP, but that damned Elk burned through all I had!
’If this fails... I might not get another chance like this.’
The monster, now pulled further out the gate, spread its wings.
It tried to flap, as if wanting to blow its attackers away.
But the Awakened stood their ground and kept pulling it.
’I must Baptise this one! If it goes well, it could open another path for reaching Central!’
Cohen’s gaze was focused on the beast, a smile appearing on his face at the prospects.
"Do I take that look as you like it?" Farid asked, looking down at Cohen.
"Very much," Cohen replied.
Farid wore a satisfied expression.
"Hmm,.. Bold. The conviction behind that reply tells me there’s a high chance you’ll succeed."
’Since they didn’t see Blight’s corpse, he must suspect something.’
Cohen cracked his fingers, hyped by the coming challenge.
"It won’t be easy, but I’ll make it work."
Farid chuckled.
By then, the monster was out the Gate. The Awakened immediately crouched, attaching the ropes in their hands to the floor and charging it with their mana.
The monster’s movement was even more restricted, the ropes around its body turning to a more fixed material.
’This is one of the items Tamers use in the process of taming. Dana said it cost a lot...’ Cohen thought.
A woman with green eyes and orange hair, among the Awakened, approached Farid.
"Captain, it’s in a more agitated state due to the mana surge effects."
She looked at Cohen, a skeptical look crossing her features as she turned back to Farid.
Farid wore an amused look and asked, "What do you think? Will he tame it?"
The lady, although not a tamer, was a monster researcher and had an expertise on topics related to it. She worked closely with Farid and knew how to answer him appropriately.
"Unlikely."
"Even with the restraints and my support?"
"The beast is more than ten levels above him, a rare creature and its mind is even stronger."
"Hmmm," Farid nodded. "But you’re not advising me against it."
The lady looked at Cohen at the question, seeing the smile he had on before answering.
"I trust your judgement, Captain."
Farid smiled and shifted to Cohen. "Are you ready?"
Cohen locked gaze with the lady, a slightly arrogant smile appearing. "I am."
"Will you need a medium?" Farid asked.
After visiting the marketplace, Cohen had gained an understanding of what a medium was.
It allowed easier bonding with a tamed beast as well as making the monster more sane and loyal to the Tamer.
But at this point, Farid definitely knew Cohen’s abilities were not weak. Plus, Cohen’s taming abilities were not even taming in the traditional sense.
"I won’t be needing those."
He walked closer to the monster, removing his hands from his hood pocket and passing his hand through his hair.
Farid first instructed the four Awakened present to return, opening a Gate for them that led directly to the lower floors of the main building.
If anything spiraled, he and the lady were more than enough to kill a level 27 creature.
As Cohen neared the beast, he saw lines of runes appear in a disorganized pattern around the monster.
The runes crawled off the floor, wrapping around the monster’s body, a black and white barrier appearing like clothing on its body.
A barrier weakening spell.
The monster released a roar, its ripple effects weaker now.
Cohen cranked his head up, looking at the monster’s glowing orange eyes.
He took in a deep breath as his gaze darkened, one of his hands stretching out.
Mana spread out from Cohen, increasing the pressure in the surroundings,an authority of a higher race woven into reality.
I Am Null.
The air grew heavier. Even the Awakened in the distance felt the change, albeit slightly.
The monster could feel the rising pressure clearly, and the intent behind it.
"You will become mine today!"
He faced the level 27 Dark Swooper.
"I am offering you a path to greater strength, to the Primordial," Cohen muttered, feeling the creature’s desires somehow. "That’s what you want don’t you?"
The monster merely let out a low, guttural roar that echoed off the hall walls.
’It doesn’t want to acknowledge me merely because of my lower level.’
Cohen’s face tightened. He had learned from the Elk the cost of failure.
"There are more practical ways to do this."
He turned, walking a few steps away from the struggling beast.
He extended his hand, and a shimmering, black-and-yellow Gate of the Baptised tore open in the air.
"Bobby. Come out."
The violet Rift Split Slime, now resting at Level 24, bounced out of the Gate, its two black rift eyes focusing instantly on the target.
Without a word, the slime knew what to do, a clear understanding of the unusual, punitive order passing through the mental link.
Bobby immediately began to work.
Two miniature spatial tears opened around the Dark Swooper.
Bobby used large rocks from its collection, gathered in the mine dungeon.
These weren’t well-suited for battle because their size reduced their speed which was one of Bobby’s special traits, but against a restrained target.
It was enough.
The first fragment emerged from a rift just above the creature’s knee, slamming into the joint with a sickening crack.
The Dark Swooper roared, not in defiance, but in shock and searing agony.
It tried hard to move but a second projectile, emerging from the floor, struck its heel, destabilizing it.
The creature felt a pain course its body, being pulled down lower, going against its fixed restraints.
Watching from a distance, Farid could feel the weight of the attack and the struggle of the beasts through his barriers.
His face turned serious.
The lady said, "He’s injuring it! It can cause grave injuries for it which will be hard to heal, and moreso, it won’t treat him well even if the taming is successful!"
Farid understood and shared the same concerns. Yet he replied, "Just let’s watch."
As the creature struggled to rise, Bobby’s relentless, precise barrage continued. Fragment after fragment, accelerated to high velocity, targeted points of weakness.
Cohen watched, as the magnificent beast was methodically broken down and humiliated, its roars turning into strained whimpers as its defiance crumbled under targeted, non-lethal torture. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Bobby reduced the release of rocks.
"Now, are you willing to work with me?" Cohen asked.
The Dark Swooper lay whimpering, its body twitching in pain and defeat.
Its eyes, now dull with submission, looked up at Cohen. All resistance was gone.
Cohen walked to the shattered creature.
He placed his hand on its underbelly.
"Don’t worry. You’ll be fine in a few seconds," Cohen stated.
He initiated Baptism.
"This is the brutality of the Primordials... and their mercy."
