SSS Cultivation: I Can Conquer Earth's Rank System-Chapter 37: A Scarier Morningbolt

The watch in their hands beeped and informed them it was time for dinner but they paid no heed. Dinner can wait.

Sil and the other guy dragged Leo along with them while Jade led the way. From the way they lifted him easily, Leo was well aware of how strong they are. Both Sil and the quiet black-haired guy were B-ranked. Jade being an A-ranker was more like a master to them. They felt the heavy burden to accomplish anything once he commands. Even though Sil appeared to be his closest friend, there was nothing he could do when Jade was furious like now.

They got to the entrance of a deserted building and saw two Mecha-men standing guard. Mecha-men only guard the academy at night since that's what they are specially trained for. The least among any mecha-man is a B-ranker and they are selected based on their acute observation abilities. Since it's getting dark, they have already resumed their post for the night.

Leo was a little relieved when he saw the robotic men at the post. He expected that they'd apprehend the students and free him from their hold. But instead one of them only said in their programmed voice, "Going out at this time, boys? Just be back before curfew starts."

He was shocked at how unconcerned they were even when it was clear that a boy was in trouble at the moment. "I'm still not prepared for this new earth, it seems. There's really no care for the weak."

More students went past them on their way to the canteen for dinner. None of them even batted an eye as Leo was roughly dragged down a rough path. The walk was getting longer and longer, Leo thought they just wanted to warn him with some sound beating about his interaction with Rosa, but it seems there was some other agenda in mind.

His guess came true when he saw that the path they are on leads to the second year school. Instantly, fear took a hold of him. He was about to ask why he was being taken here when he realized that he couldn't move his mouth. Sil has stylishly shut his lips with thick loads of ice without Leo even knowing. He tried to scream but he could only let out muffled screams.

They got close to the gate and two seniors approached them. With a slight left nod from one of the seniors, Sil and the other boy dragged Leo to the side that was silently commanded. Jade remained with the seniors, discussing with them.

After a while, Jade and the two seniors joined them at the corner.

"Free his mouth," the first senior said. Looking at Jade who was standing beside the senior, one could tell straightaway that they are brothers. The slim face, sharp eyes, spiky hair, straight nose, everything was practically the same except the hair colour. While Jade's was red, the senior's was blond.

"Is this him? I was expecting someone more imposing," the other senior who appeared to be a sidekick to Jade's brother said. Leo took a quick glance at his wrist and saw the letter B glowing.

"Was my offence that heavy that I have to be surrounded by these powerful beings?" Leo thought to himself.

Jade was A-ranked, Sil was B-ranked, the quiet black-haired boy was B-ranked, Jade's brother whose name Leo found out to be Riley was A-ranked, and his sidekick was B-ranked. "Even a Xollante being will cower if it was cornered by this lot."

With an easy smile, Riley Morningbolt approached Leo with slow strides and eyes fixed against his. "In just two days, I've heard a lot about you. One would think the most famous in school right now would be an overachiever at the arena, but no it was you. Why must that be?"

Riley's voice sent chills down Leo's spine. He tried to mutter any word, even if it was just a "pardon me", but he lips seemed glued like it was still sealed with Sil's ice.

"Okay, here it comes," Leo thought with dread.

"What are you doing with my sister, Rosa? Don't you know your place in this world? Scums like you are not even fit to lick the sole of my shoes... What in the 'ship smashing space debris' did you do to her that she only was the one who didn't leave you to die at the back of the classroom?!"

If Leo was scared before, it was nothing compared to how he felt now. Riley's nonstop yells reminded him of his father back in the days. His father would bark at anything just like Riley is doing right now, only that this was scarier and more suffocating because there was no place to escape if push comes to shove.

Leo wanted to defend himself and passionately explain how Rosa was the one who kept coming his way. He wanted to explain that he knew his place as this new earth has taught him. He wanted to tell them that Rosa's tenacity was too much to handle and that she only caused all these accidents that happened to him. He wanted to say all these but why should they believe him? The angry eyes staring at him from different directions wasn't ready for any explanation. It was clear that they wanted to hear nothing from him. It was clear they only wanted to mete out punishment on him. They only freed his mouth to give him an illusion of choice.

So all he could say was, "Please spare me."

"Spare you? Don't make me laugh," Riley blurted out. "I'm not here to smash you to death like you're thinking since you're just too little for me. The boys can do the smashing after I leave. I'm only here to warn you, or perhaps threaten you. I know she's only a C-ranker even though I don't know how that was possible. She must have suppressed her power during the test, but still she's a rank ahead of you. Haven't you heard of the power system rule?

"You should never mess with anybody higher than you in rank. You have many D-rank losers like you who will embrace your sorry ass. But if I ever see you with Rosa again, I'll make you wish you weren't born, I promise. You're just a speck of dust to me and I'll only blow you away with a flick of my fingers. Remember that."

Riley turned his back to Leo sharply and walked away from the gathering. His sidekick jumped after him like a happy puppy. "You boys can enjoy yourself with him," Riley said as he turned the corner heading to the canteen.

Jade took over from where his brother left off. "Seems losers don't know their place until they are reminded with a solid force. Let me see you with my dumb sister again and I won't even wait for Riley before I smash you."

Compared to what Leo just faced from Riley, Jade's additional threat only sounded like a child's rambling to him.

"So, should I get ready to get beaten now or you'll pardon me, master Jade?" he asked in sarcastic politeness.

"Now you remember you have a mouth?" Jade said.

"Let me pound his mouth full of holes," Sil asked of Jade, very angry at Leo.

"We won't be doing that," Jade said uneasily. Just freeze him against the wall and make it thick enough that it won't melt until he realizes his mistake."

Jade turned to go while Sil started freezing Leo to the wall. His hands were frozen first, then his legs and now his body till the thick load of ice started growing over his face. Leo was completely covered in ice, leaving only his nose for breathing. Sil really overdid what Jade commanded. "Seems he still loves me then. At least he didn't cover my nose," Leo thought.

"Don't come back to the dorm tonight, boy. I lost my accommodation quirk for tonight," Jade called out at Leo as he departed.

Quiet one followed Jade back into the first year school while Sil was running after them.

"It's weird how I can't bring myself to hit him even with my anger. You're really a pain in my rectum, Leo." Jade thought.

Back at the building by the second year school, Leo almost completely covered with ice started shivering uncontrollably. Water dropped down nonstop from the ice covered him but the ice was too thick to melt quickly on its own. He really needs help. In the dark of the night, he saw a slim figure running towards him at great speed. He saw that it was a female as the figure got closer.

"Oh, no. I'll really get killed before this week ends. She will really get me killed," Leo lamented. "what have I done to deserve this?"
