Chapter 171: I’ll be Your Hand

After Bei Sangyun showed the fountain pen and played the recorder hidden on it proudly, Fei Chuan, whom she thought had finally let go of his anger, got mad again.

His face darkened as the recording went on. When it was done playing, he scolded her fiercely. Then he went quiet and ignored her.

She kept trying to ask him what she did wrong, but Fei Chuan gave her the cold shoulder.

Bei Sangyun rolled her eyes. The grumpy Fei Chuan was back. She didn’t really understand why he was angry with her. "I already said sorry, what more do you want? What should I do to make you less angry?"

Fei Chuan narrowed his eyes, "Think about it yourself."

"Agh. I am asking you because I don’t know. Seriously. I don’t have any idea how to make you feel better. Just tell me, okay?"

The elevator opened. Fei Chuan stepped out, but his steps were not hurried; they were slow this time. Bei Sangyun was able to follow behind him.

"You don’t have to make me feel better. Why do you even care about my thoughts?" He replied angrily. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"...You act like nothing is important to you. You don’t even care about yourself. But now you mind what I think? It was better when you only thought about yourself." Fei Chuan muttered in a low voice.

"What?" Bei Sangyun asked again. She wasn’t able to hear him well.

Fei Chuan halted in his steps and turned around to face her, "I would prefer it if you had acted like before. When you only think about yourself and are cautious in every decision."

Bei Sangyun looked up at him, "I don’t want to be like that anymore though. I want to care for the people I care about, and I want to do things that I wanted to do."

Fei Chuan paused. He stared into her clear eyes.

’Care for the people she cared about?’

Was he....included in those ’people’?

Bei Sangyun’s gaze fell onto his bruised face. "Like how you ran for me in that warehouse after you learned I was there, I also want to do the same thing as you."

Fei Chuan’s gaze wavered. His heart skipped a beat.

The two gazes met. There was only silence in the hallway.

Fei Chuan’s heartbeat sped up. Its clamoring noise was deafening his ears.

There she goes again. She easily said words that could put his mind and heart in chaos. How was it so easy for her to say such shameless things?

Were those words even true?

Why was it so easy for her to rattle him?

Fei Chuan was the first one to break eye contact.

"Don’t say words you don’t mean." He continued walking.

"I mean it though," Bei Sangyun replied.

Fei Chuan stayed silent. Bei Sangyun’s pace turned faster until she arrived beside him. She stepped closer as she leaned closely to him, trying to see his expression behind that long bangs of his. "So are we good?"

Fei Chuan moved her face away but did not answer.

Bei Sangyun ’tsked.’ The teenager Fei Chuan was really good at playing hard to get. He was so sulky. If he wasn’t cute, she would have lost her patience long ago.

Fei Chuan arrived in front of his door and entered his password. Bei Sangyun tiptoed behind him to have a glimpse of his key. However, Fei Chuan guarded it closely.

Beep.

The door opened. Fei Chuan entered. As he was about to close the door, Bei Sangyun put her arm in the gap of the door, preventing it from closing.

Fei Chuan stopped closing the door and glared at her, "What are you doing?"

"I told you I will be your left hand for these two days. You haven’t eaten yet, right? I’ll prepare your food."

"You don’t even know how to cook," Fei Chuan tried to push her hand away.

"Who said I don’t know how to cook? Did you forget that I am the best assistant cook in the village? The day you arrived, the village prepared a festival for you. I was one of the cooks back then," Bei Sangyun bragged.

Although the chore she did was to only set up the table and help with some errands with other villagers in the kitchen, the little kid back then felt she was one of the cooks.

Fei Chuan paused.

A festival?

He remembered the small party at the front yard of the Chu villa. It was the day after he arrived. At that time, he did not get out because it was too sunny and noisy.

"Don’t tell me you forgot?" Bei Sangyun took advantage of Fei Chuan’s pause and successfully opened the door wider. She smoothly entered. "After that day, we met in your kitchen. Do you remember accusing me of stealing your cookie?"

How could Fei Chuan not remember that day? That was the first time he met someone of his age in that village. And the little girl left a huge impression on him since that day.

"...I can’t remember. But you must have been too young back then. You can only help by wiping the tables. That doesn’t make you a cook."

Fei Chuan’s words hit a mark. He was right. But Bei Sangyun wouldn’t admit that.

"You are judging me before you can even see for yourself. How will you know if you haven’t tried it? Believe me, I am a good cook." Bei Sangyun did not wait for his response and invited herself in. She took off her shoes and went past Fei Chuan, the owner of the house.

"Is there any ingredients in your fridge?" Bei Sangyun had been in Fei Chuan’s room before. And since they were on the same floor, the layout of their hotel room was just the same.

Bei Sangyun directly went to the kitchen and opened the fridge. She saw rows of containers filled with pickled vegetables, marinated meat, some pastries, and sweets. "Wow, Grandma Pei must have sent you this, right?"

She was envious of Fei Chuan now. Ah~ if her grandma was here as well, Grandma Bei would also send her a lot of dishes.

Fei Chuan held the back of Bei Sangyun’s collar and dragged her out of the kitchen, "Who told you to come in? Get out."

"It’s a good thing you have plenty of dishes. I’ll cook some rice," Bei Sangyun said, her feet being dragged across the floor.

"No need."

"The doctor said not to get your wound wet."

"I have my other hand. Besides, this wound is very small. It is not even centimeters long." Fei Chuan felt that Bei Sangyun was just exaggerating everything and was playing with him.

Fei Chuan, who was dragging Bei Sangyun by the collar, suddenly got repelled by a force. He paused and looked back at her.
