Soon, Mr. Simon received information regarding Fei Chuan’s background.

As he absorbed the details from his assistant’s report, Mr. Simon’s countenance darkened.

"He’s the youngest young master of the prestigious Fei family?" he asked incredulously.

How had his grandson managed to offend someone from the influential Fei family?

The Fei family boasted a deep-rooted history. Though not as prominently in the limelight as before, their reputation and influence surpassed even that of the Lin family!

Unlike other families rapidly ascending the social ranks, such as the Lin family, the Fei family maintained a low-key profile, akin to a dormant lion in hibernation. However, once provoked, there was no doubt that this slumbering lion would unsheathe its claws.

If there were no imminent trouble at hand, Mr. Simon might not have hesitated to confront the Fei family. He wouldn’t be afraid to press the matter and demand an explanation from the head of the Fei family, making that individual pay for what he did to his grandson. After all, his Simon family did not fall behind the Lin and Fei family.

However, his major companies back in his home country were already sustaining damages at the hands of the families who were eager to seize his grandson.

He couldn’t afford to accumulate another formidable enemy and endure substantial losses.

The anger in Mr. Simon’s heart dissipated. He sighed helplessly, "My grandson has to bear the consequences this time."

"What should I convey to the Young Master?" his assistant inquired.

Richard was still anticipating ’good news’ from them. This news would surely break his grandson’s heart. Mr. Simon did not want to disappoint his only grandson but they had to let this go for the meantime.

Mr. Simon sighed, appearing to age overnight. "Inform him that we have managed the situation. We can only lie to him. By tomorrow, we will depart the country. All of us." Mr. Simon could only grit his teeth and endure this humiliation.

But he promised himself that once matters back at home settled down, he would gather his forces and once again seek justice for his grandson from the Fei family.

"Where’s Old Lin?"

"Headmaster Lin is currently in his room with his doctor. Should I inform his butler for an appointment?"

"Please do. I have to personally relay this matter to my old friend."

This predicament involved Old Lin’s granddaughter. Mr. Simon had to warn his old friend that he was harboring a cunning and scheming individual.

He might not be able to touch that little girl, but he could sow seeds of doubt in his friend’s heart. That child can dream of being favored by his old friend.

Richard recuperated in his room as he eagerly awaited for the ’good news.’ When he saw his grandfather’s assistant entering the room, he sat up enthusiastically.

"Is Grandpa going to bring that bastard? Fei Chuan’s family seems formidable, but he is the unfavored grandson. Grandpa can bring him, right?"

The assistant paused for a moment.

Unfavored grandson?

Indeed, in the eyes of the public, Fei Chuan seemed unfavored. However, for people like him who understood how big families worked, he could discern from the investigation report that, although the Fei Patriarch seemed cold and heartless for abandoning Fei Chuan in that remote village, he had done it to protect him.

The least that a Patriarch could do to avoid bringing trouble to his grandson was to act unconcerned.

But would the Patriarch of the Fei family really stand by when another family barged in and crushed his grandson’s pride?

The Patriarch of the Fei family might not be able to boldly protect this unfavored son, but there were a lot of ways to get back at them. And right now, the Simon family could not afford to face them.

The assistant bowed, "It has been handled. Please take a lot of rest because tomorrow we will depart soon."

"Handled? How?" Richard frowned. It had been handled? Then why isn’t he seeing Fei Chuan groveling on his knees?

Richard wasn’t easy to fool. He could tell from the assistant’s answer that it wasn’t the case. Whenever his grandfather acted, he did it decisively and swiftly. But right now, his grandfather was only saying empty words.

The assistant remained poker-faced, "The Fei family is a formidable enemy. So Master’s plan might take a while."

Richard understood it immediately. His grandfather could not take revenge for him!

The thought of leaving the country with a battered face while Fei Chuan was left unscathed boiled his blood.

"I won’t leave! Until I see Fei Chuan wandering around the street with limp legs, I can’t leave!"

The calm expression on the assistant’s face broke. The Young Master was being difficult.

"Master has made the decision. Please understand."

"I won’t! This is unfair! Call Grandpa!"

"Master is currently with Headmaster Lin. He can’t entertain you right now."

Richard stood up from the bed and ran towards the door. "No! I have to talk to him! I can’t leave here while doing nothing!"

The assistant blocked his way. At this moment, Sophia came in and heard her brother clamoring to meet their grandpa.

"Why are you stopping him?" Sophia asked, scowling.

The assistant saw another troublemaker. "Young Miss, please step out of this-"

Richard interrupted him, "Grandpa is not doing anything. We will leave here defeated while that bastard is safe and sound!"

Sophia was stunned. She asked with wide eyes, "What do you mean Grandpa did nothing? Can’t he make Bei Sangyun pay?"

The assistant had a headache, "Master is already discussing this matter with Head Master Lin-"

"Discussing? Discussing for what? That bitch needs to pay! Why can’t he call that bitch and make her kneel to us! She humiliated me and my brother! What’s the use of talking? Grandpa should force that woman to apologize and be punished!"

As if Sophia’s anger was not enough, Richard added with red eyes, "We are going to leave here tomorrow. We will return to our home defeated and ashamed. That bastard must be laughing inside."

Richard’s anger was directed towards Fei Chuan, while Sophia’s anger was aimed at Bei Sangyun. Hearing that she would return to her home country after being embarrassed and defeated by Bei Sangyun did not sit well with her.

She refused to leave! If she had to leave, she had to see that woman suffering first!

"Where’s Grandpa?! I need to talk to Grandpa!" Sophia clamored.

The room of the Head Master of the Lin family had a traditional setting with intricate designs. The bed’s canopy was laid down, and the shadow of the old man sitting on the bed was obstructed by the incense’s smokes in the room. novelbuddy.cσ๓

The doctor’s assistant had finished packing the doctor’s belongings and was standing near the door.

Doctor Hua, a gentleman in his fifties, bowed towards Old Master Lin. "I’ll be off then. Please don’t stress your heart and make sure to get a lot of rest."

"I will take a lot of rest once I’m dead. But I will follow your words. I will take a proper rest." Old Master Lin chuckled.

Doctor Hua shook his head, "Please don’t make jokes like that. I still have to see you for a long time, Master Lin."

The doctor and the patient shared a few conversations before Butler Yang delivered them to the door.

Butler Yang saw Mr. Simon waiting outside. He opened the door wider. "Please come in. Master has been waiting for you."

In the middle of the appointment with the doctor, Butler Yang had already received the news from Mr. Simon’s assistant and conveyed their intention to his master.

Old Master Lin saw his good friend entering the room. His old brow tensed a bit before relaxing into a smile.

"What is so urgent that you have to barge into my room?"

Mr. Simon smiled and took the seat beside the bed. He did not answer quickly and asked, "Have you been on your bed the whole day?"

Old Master Lin shook his head, "The weather is just too cold. You’ll also get this when you reach my age."

Old Master Lin was five years older than his good friend. This age gap seemed like nothing. However, compared to the healthy and younger-looking Mr. Simon, Old Master Lin had to walk with his cane.

Because he fell into his brother’s tricks in the past during the heir’s battle, it left a permanent injury in his body. Now that he was getting older, those symptoms were showing.

Mr. Simon knew his old friend did not want to be seen as weak in front of people. So he just laughed it off as well, "Well, you are right. I have to particularly care for my health then."

The two joked for a while and reminisced. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, like two old friends who had just come to meet and reconnect. The incense in the incense burner was replaced, and the scent continued to surround the room. When Butler Yang replaced the tea with a warm one, Old Master Lin went directly to the topic.

"What’s on your mind that you have come to see me? Surely, you did not come here to joke around, right?"

Mr. Simon laughed, "You really know me well."

Mr. Simon suddenly became serious. "Did you know about the quarrel that happened recently between our grandchildren?"

Old Master Lin was still smiling as he smelled the newly brewed tea. "...Are you talking about the incident in the school’s warehouse?"

Mr. Simon’s eyes shifted. "You knew?"

Old Master Lin mysteriously smiled, "How can I not know anything about my grandchildren?"

Mr. Simon clenched his fist. The friendly look on his face vanished. "You knew, yet you did not seek me?"

"Why would I look for you? This is a matter between children. It’s too far of a stretch to involve us, right?"

"A person is harmed! My grandson is beaten up severely because of the shrewdness of your granddaughter!"

Mr. Simon lost his composure because of his friend’s casual attitude. Was it because it was his grandson who was beaten up while Old Lin’s granddaughter was perfectly fine that’s why his friend wasn’t bothered?

Here he was being considerate to his friend’s thinking, but the latter was not thinking about him at all!

"Are you expecting me to stand by after seeing my grandson’s bloody face? I did not pursue the matter because you are my old friend, but to think you don’t have any remorse for me at all." Mr. Simon said a bit pained.

Old Master Lin put down the teacup harshly. The smile on his face disappeared as well. "Your grandson deserved to be beaten up." His eyes turned grave as he looked at Mr. Simon’s wronged eyes.

"It is me who is being considerate for not blaming it on you and kicking you and your grandson out of my house. But because we have decades of friendships, I let it go and wait for you. I don’t have any remorse for you? It is you and your grandson who don’t have any respect for me and my family!"
