Chapter 176: Can’t Tolerate Anymore

The sudden change in his old friend’s attitude stunned Mr. Simon. It was he who was supposed to be enraged!

"If I am not respecting you, I should not have come to you first but to the police station. Your granddaughter harmed my grandson. You must not have seen my grandson’s face. My perfectly fine grandson has to stay in bed for months!"

"Be thankful he only needs to stay in his bed for months. If you were not my friend, he should have been shoved into prison."

Mr. Simon could not believe the words coming out of his old friend. Was he going to defend that granddaughter of his? Would their friendship be forever lost because of a little girl’s scheme?

Mr. Simon was angry at his friend for being too narrow-minded. He took a deep breath to calm down his anger, "Don’t be played by a little girl’s scheme. You don’t know your granddaughter too well. She schemed and seduced my grandson. My grandson is going to properly reject her, but she laid out an ambush and beat him out of nowhere. That kind of person who schemes so deep when she is just a child would bring your family into demise."

Mr. Simon gave a warning to his old friend, "And now you are being played as well."

Mr. Simon could already guess that his old friend’s granddaughter must have already laid out her lies so his old friend would not believe what he said after.

The little girl was one step ahead of them. What a shrewd child.

Old Master Lin heard Mr. Simon’s accusation and laughed coldly, "It is my granddaughter who seduced your grandson? If I did not know any better, I should have doubted her story and listened to you instead. Is that your and your grandson’s plan? Or perhaps it is only you who is in the dark?"

Mr. Simon frowned. His old friend was being stubborn, "If you have investigated, you should have investigated enough. There are many witnesses. My granddaughter also testified that it is your granddaughter who planned all this."

"That’s your basis? Your grandchildren’s words? It seems you have been becoming rusty, old friend. Do emotions and feelings get ahead of you?" Old Master Lin gestured to Butler Yang, "You look so stupid right now that I have to play this for you."

Butler Yang brought a silver fountain pen. He pressed something on it, and Richard’s voice sounded in the room.

[....I invested considerable patience and effort just to have you, but you haven’t flinched once. With more time, I could achieve the best result. I regret that it has come to this...]

When Mr. Simon heard the familiar voice, he froze. This voice was indeed his grandson’s. But why it was filled with malice? It was as if the speaker was a son of the devil.

[All you have to do is to be my little bitch....]

What followed was the sound of fighting and Richard’s curse.

The recording finished, but the room was deathly silent.

Old Master Lin saw that his old friend’s face was pale and dumbstricken. He sighed. He felt complicated over this matter. He was angry at his friend’s grandson, but he also sympathized with his old friend.

"My granddaughter sent me this recording this morning. I might have believed you and your grandson’s story if not for this. To be honest, I was angry. I treat you and your family well, so why does your grandson want to repay us in shame?"

Mr. Simon could not utter a word. He was simply dumbfounded. His grandchildren lied to him?

There was no way this recording was fake. With just a bit of digging, the truth would come out. That’s why he came here with confidence because he knew that if his old friend investigated enough, they would find out that it was his grandson who was wronged.

Mr. Simon did not doubt even for a moment his two grandchildren. His grandchildren might be naughty at times, but they weren’t the type of people to violate someone. As for the mess he cleaned up before, he believed those incidents were caused by other people’s jealousy over his grandchildren.

After all, the victims were lacking evidence. It was normal for others to scheme and put the blame on his grandchildren to ruin their reputation. Like the current event abroad. The families who were ganging up on them were all asking about his grandson because they felt wronged that their own grandsons were in jail while Richard wasn’t.

He thought the source of it was their jealousy and envy towards his good grandson. Could it be the matter wasn’t that simple?

Mr. Simon had a veil covered in his eyes when it came to his grandchildren. Because he saw his grandchildren as angels, not capable of doing extreme acts, he never doubted them. Unlike his son, who knew his children’s nature well, Mr. Simon believed that his grandchildren, who were so sweet and kind, had to be spoiled. So even if they were naughty at times and invited trouble, it was something he could handle and tolerate.

As for the extreme acts the twins had done, he was in the dark about it. He just cleaned up every mess and wiped it clean.

But the act of spoiling them and turning a blind eye to their ’naughty’ acts unknowingly became a stepping stone for his grandchildren to fearlessly commit crimes, until they grew twisted, thinking that they were unstoppable.

Mr. Simon staggered as he faced the cruel truth.

"I...I did not know my grandson is capable of that..." Mr. Simon wanted to dig a hole into the ground. He felt so ashamed meeting his old friend’s gaze.

"I did not come to trouble your grandson because I want to discuss this matter with you first, considering the friendship between us. I am just going to consider this as a matter between our grandchildren. But I realized that after you came to me that I shouldn’t be like this. You got angry for your grandson’s sake, so I should do the same."

Old Master Lin stared at Mr. Simon deeply, "I believe your grandchildren need to apologize to my granddaughter."

Mr. Simon shamefully lowered his head. He came here to blame his old friend’s granddaughter, but he became the person who had to force his grandchildren to apologize to that child.

"...I understand. This is my fault. I did not discipline them well and caused you trouble."

Mr. Simon felt deeply embarrassed. He lost face. He became a foolish person in his old friend’s eyes.

Fortunately, his old friend did not ask for any difficult compensation aside from an apology. This was his old friend considering the friendship between them. He was thankful and guilty.

As he was about to promise to sort this out with his grandchildren, Butler Yang suddenly went to Old Master Lin’s side and whispered something.

Old Master Lin paused. He turned his gaze towards Mr. Simon. "It seems that your grandchildren can’t wait any longer. They are outside. Why don’t you bring them in?"

Mr. Simon stood up. "No need. These children will just embarrass me in front of you."

Mr. Simon gave a quick goodbye to his friend. As soon as he stepped out of the door, his face became thunderous.

He saw his two grandchildren running towards him.

"Grandpa! How can we leave like this? Can’t you see how I suffer humiliation? That bastard Fei Chuan should not be left alone! Please make him pay or else I won’t leave!"

"Grandpa, why aren’t you punishing Bei Sangyun? She is the cause of this disaster! She ruined brother and humiliated me!"

They cried as if they were wronged and put the blame on other people. They clung to him, expecting that he would spoil them like every other day.

Mr. Simon’s face darkened as he listened. They were not yet less than a meter from the door of the Master’s bedroom, and the door wasn’t fully closed yet. Their cries must have been heard inside.

Mr. Simon’s face burned in shame and embarrassment. Now that the truth had been revealed, listening to his grandchildren’s bold lies was like a slap on his face.

"Enough! I don’t want to hear any more lies!" Mr. Simon finally snapped. The old man who never yelled at his grandchildren glared at the twins and scolded them harshly, "You two embarrass me to death! How did I be so blind to tolerate all your despicable acts?!"

Sophia and Richard were taken aback by their grandfather’s sudden outburst. They stepped back and looked at him with wide eyes.

Seeing the dumb look on his grandchildren’s faces, the anger and shame in his heart rose, "You two can really act! All those incidents in the past, they must be all true. You two really have big guts to deceive me, your grandfather!"

Sophia had never seen her grandfather get angry at her like this. She teared up, "Grandpa, we are not deceiving you. We are never at fault! Those people are just jealous of us-"

"Then I will investigate it again and see if you are telling the truth," Mr. Simon gravely said.

Sophia paled and stopped speaking. Richard recovered and took a deep breath, "Grandpa, why are you being like this? We are not the ones at fault. We are the victims."

"Victims?" Mr. Simon glared at his grandson, whom he was so proud of but now had become the cause of his shame. His heart felt like they were being dug up. It hurts just by looking at his grandson. "The incident in the warehouse. Are you truly a victim?"

Richard was taken aback. He took a bandage off his face, "I was the one beaten up! Can’t you see I am the victim?"

"Then, are you telling me you did not try to harass that child?"

Richard turned stiff. His eyes wavered. But then he nodded strongly, "I didn’t! There are witnesses!"

"I was there, grandpa! That girl has indeed lured my brother and led some bullies to beat up my brother. If you ask around the school, you will know that Bei Sangyun is the tyrant at that school." Sophia strongly commented.

Mr. Simon looked at his grandchildren’s faces. They looked at him in the eyes, as if they were telling him it was the truth.

Mr. Simon’s heart ached. "Are you going to continue deceiving me?"

The twins paused. They clung to him and cried, "Grandpa, why don’t you believe us? You have to believe us!"

Mr. Simon pried off their hands. He steeled his heart. "Before we leave tomorrow, apologize to that child Bei Sangyun."

Richard and Sophia’s eyes went wide.

"Grandpa!" Sophia yelled, strongly rejecting the idea.

Mr. Simon’s gaze turned cold and dark, "Be thankful that Head Master Lin is not going to pursue this matter. If I am not his old friend, you two won’t be able to get away with this. This is the last time I will be lenient."

Mr. Simon looked at them, not letting them refuse, "Before we leave tomorrow, find a chance to apologize to that child."
