Star Gate-Chapter 1718: New Master of Skyward (III)
“Kill!” The Sword Sovereign couldn’t be bothered with concealing his identity anymore. The sword intent of a seventh rank Eternal Sword erupted with a fury. It was utterly domineering and surpassed any that he’d ever deployed. He was so excited that it was as if he’d set eyes on the most unparalleled beauty of all time.
Li Hao flared with his myriad of worlds and stirred his river into frothing motion.
“World master!” an appalled Deepsea howled for reinforcement.
“Dragon master, help me this once...” growled a conflicted Skycloud master. The Dragon master stirred to motion. It was fine to render aid just one time. That would make Skycloud owe him a favor.
However, the Dragon master suddenly sensed something—the Light master and Flare Sun seemed to be staring at him. The Dragon master’s expression shifted slightly and he vanished on the spot. His dao universe appeared for him to disappear in.
Forget it!
This was not a worthwhile tradeoff. Once anything happened to Skycloud, that shithead Red Moon would absolutely seize the Skycloud dao universe. He was not a kindhearted person.
“You bastard!” snarled the Skycloud master as he turned around again. The Red Moon master was already deep inside his dao universe and it would be difficult to throw the man out. The Skycloud master clenched his jaw and whirled around to leave!
A look of despair dawned on Deepsea when he saw the development and he howled with desperation, “Fog Mountain!”
Fog Mountain was his only hope now. The world master had left!
Only Fog Mountain can save me!
The corner of Fog Mountain’s lips lifted slightly, but he didn’t make a move. He simply shrugged slightly, as if saying that this has nothing to do with me. I’m not a Skycloud exalted emperor anymore.
“Fog Mountain, you traitor!” roared Deepsea. He shook the myriad of phenomena with one mighty punch. Fog Mountain looked on with a resigned expression.
He seemed to be saying, now now, I’m quite innocent. I haven’t taken you to account for you betraying me yet! Skycloud has abandoned you, Orchid Forest has trapped you, and Red Moon dragged you down...
You’re not cursing any of them, but yell at me instead?
Are the kindhearted always the targets of bullying? They’re joining hands to kill you and I’m just standing here watching, but you curse me?
Fog Mountain chuckled from immense resignation. Although he was located further away from the group, he abruptly materialized a mountain in the void with a reach of his hand. He waved his hand over the mountain peak, presenting a sea within.
When the sea appeared, it seemed to connect to Skycloud major world. The Skycloud master paused in the middle of closing the dao universe; a dao star shifted in the Skycloud dao universe.
Boom!
The star trembled, prompting a mouthful of blood from Deepsea struggling in Orchid Forest’s hell. He looked incredulously at his former colleague.
“You absorbed my dao strength and cursed my name?” laughed Fog Mountain. I was so innocent! It’s only been a few days, have you fully digested my strength yet?
How dare you try to drag me into this? Is bullying me once not enough and you want to go at it again?
Boom!!
Deepsea shook when the dao star trembled. Orchid Forest’s hell broke with a sharp crack; a blade, a sword, and a book descended at the same time.
The long river manifested; the world of emptiness erupted.
Deepsea’s body spontaneously crumbled away into dust. Endless dao strength streamed out and sped for the dao universe, as if wishing to return home.
Fog Mountain smiled at it. “I already said that this is my strength...”
His fingers were as if sharp blades, stabbing into the sea in front of him.
Boom!
The strength of great dao spontaneously crumbled; another strength had appeared and furiously ate away at it. A ghastly scream rose from the air as Deepsea keened with despair, “Fog Mountain... you animal!!”
“......” Fog Mountain rolled his eyes. The curse was well deserved this time. I admit to it! But you cursed me first! When so many people want to kill you and you curse my name first...
Well, I might not have done anything before that. But now, what you say is completely justified.
Boom!
Dao strength fell apart and a dao star within Skycloud dao universe exploded. The Skycloud master widened his eyes as he looked at Fog Mountain with a complicated expression. He immediately shut the dao universe and vanished on the spot.
Fog Mountain had struck back!
The Fog Mountain of their impression would not have taken any action. In their view, they knew Fog Mountain all too well. Even Deepsea felt that he would be fine despite taking Fog Mountain’s name in vain. The man might even still be thinking of their old relationship and save him.
As it turned out... he didn’t.
Fog Mountain seemed to have changed after leaving Skycloud. They had been on the same side before, fellow comrades, and friends of several hundred thousand years. It was fine if he suffered a bit or came up a little short.
As a peak seventh rank, Fog Mountain didn’t need to do everything himself. Any of the other seventh ranks would’ve sufficed.
But since he was a bit older and stronger than the other seventh ranks, he needed less time to cultivate. Hence, more tasks fell on his shoulders.
And yet... it seemed that no one appreciated the role he played. They all felt that this was what he should do and that this was a demonstration of how he was being awarded greater authority. He should be happy about these additional obligations!
Deepsea didn’t dare raise his voice at anyone but him!
Fog Mountain chuckled softly, watching the Skycloud dao universe disappear in the void. I am no longer Fog Mountain of Skycloud, but the wandering cultivator Fog Mountain! I helped everyone before because I was Fog Mountain of Skycloud!
It was you who were too heartless!
If you’d let me leave with the strength of a seventh rank, I would’ve protected Skycloud from invasion even at the cost of my own life! They would have to go through me first before breaching Skycloud!
But you guys... forsook me first!
The Skycloud, Red Moon, Dragon, and Blazing Sun masters had run off in the blink of an eye. Deepsea and Waterpeak were dead. If one counted Red Moon and Flaming Sun... that meant another eight high ranks had vanished from the chaos universe in a few short days.
And when combined with the others in front of them, that totaled thirteen seventh ranks in two years.
Some seventh ranks still on the scene fled through the void without a look back. Everyone scattered to the four winds.
The Orchid Forest master’s dao mark finally appeared in the sky.
Li Hao frowned slightly. Although he was very satisfied at having killed another exalted emperor, he couldn’t help but say, “Senior Orchid Forest, there was no need to go to this amount of risk...”
Although they’d eliminated Deepsea, the situation had been too dangerous just now. What had Orchid Forest done that for?
The Orchid Forest master didn’t say anything as he coalesced back into a shadowy form.
“Human King,” he looked at the person he was addressing. “The portion of this person’s dao strength that belongs to me, as well as the portion from the dead Skywave master of dao, can all go to you!
“This will pay you back for standing guard over me for three days. If that is not enough, then Orchid Forest will aid New Martial once more in the days to come!”
The Human King raised a brow, looking at the man who’d broken his body to trap his opponent. That’d only reaped some dao strength. Was that supposed to pay off his debt?
“I protected you for three days, is that all my help was worth?” the Human King laughed arrogantly.
“The Human King speaks truly!” The Orchid Forest master nodded after a moment of silence. “If there is a chance in the future, Orchid Forest will respond in kind once more.”
The Human King laughed derisively and materialized a piece of paper in his hand. “That is but empty talk. Write this IOU that you need to pay me a seventh rank world. That’s how much your life was worth! A trash seventh rank from an eighth rank dao universe is not worth that price!”
“......” The premises were very quiet.
Li Hao was astonished, but also found this quite normal. He’d once traveled through New Martial and saw piles of receipts and acknowledgments of debt. Exalted Emperor Qin in particular had signed so many declarations of debt that they filled a house by themselves!
The Light master blinked with astonishment. An IOU? The New Martial Human King... was quite an unexpected character!
He wasn’t in the mood to pay attention to them. Instead, he looked at Void and transmitted, “Come with me, kid! You’re always getting up to wild actions!”
He was quite resigned by his son!
To be honest, he felt that New Martial was trouble and an enormous hassle. He’d been on a mind before to ally with others and eliminate New Martial first. The Light master was well aware of how troublesome New Martial could be!
But now, his own son had dragged him into things!
It wasn’t that he couldn’t stop his son—that was simple. He just needed to send Ming Tang flying with one slap to do that. What could a sixth rank do against him?
It was just... his son had grown up. He dared take on a seventh rank! To be honest, the Light master was immensely gratified, excited, and proud. His son could take on a seventh rank!
He couldn’t bear to stop Ming Tang from doing what he wished to do.
But at the same time, he was in a lot of trouble thanks to his son’s actions. New Martial was indeed something he didn’t wish to contend with. And now that the outside world felt that he’d allied with New Martial, this was even more trouble.
“I’ve grown up, father, I’m not leaving. I’m going to hold down the fort in Skyward. We came to seize the world and it looks like our plan has succeeded! It was very simple—we just needed to kill two seventh ranks to scare off everyone...”
Oh fuck you! Is killing two seventh ranks simple? You son of a gun... No, forget that. Do you know what you’re saying, kid?!
Light major world dominates the chaos, but even we have only five high ranks. That is the limit of what regular eighth ranks can support. It’s not that we can’t have more, but that creating more means someone needs to leave the world and become a wandering cultivator.
That would also place that exalted emperor outside of the world’s control.
Do you think killing two seventh ranks is that easy??
