Star Odyssey-Chapter 3515: Golden Meteor
Chapter 3515: Golden Meteor
Lu Yin casually grabbed one of the golden slashes. He looked at it and saw that it resembled Golden Roc’s wings. It was burning hot to the touch, while also feeling like countless blades that were ready to slice him apart.
However, the blades did nothing to Lu Yin.
He raised the golden wing in his grasp and flicked it gently with a finger. It tore through the void at the speed of time, slashing at Golden Roc himself.
The bird was completely unharmed.
Lu Yin was surprised. Such strong defenses? He refused to believe it.
Countless golden slashes filled the region, and Lu Yin let them all fall as energy erupted from his body. Not one of the slashes could even touch Lu Yin, though he returned them all to his attacker.
The people watching saw two golden forces filling the sky and clashing with each other. Sparks flew, filling the sky and making the exchange visible even to distant parts of the universe.
Old Tao’s voice suddenly reached Lu Yin’s ears. “Third Boss, beware of Golden Roc’s talons. He once managed to leave three cuts on Emperor Wu himself.”
Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. Emperor Wu was also known as Undying Emperor Wu, and it was because none could kill him. No one knew the extent of his physical abilities, but he was regarded as the strongest beast-form Spirit Rebirth in the entire Spirit Nidus. Had this Golden Roc really managed to leave three cuts on Emperor Wu?
“On top of that, he’s cultivated the seventh-ranked sequence technique: Treasureform.
“You are a spirit treasure master, Third Boss, so you know that a spiritual treasure is something that the universe has sealed away. This Treasureform Sequence Technique does something similar. The body is sealed away by the universe, which causes a defensive layer to accumulate on the surface of the body over time. When this bird fought with Bao Qi for the title of Seraph, even though Bao Qi used his Cauldron Bell, he only managed to make Golden Roc spit out blood. The bird’s defenses were never fully breached.”
Lu Yin was shocked by Golden Roc’s power yet again.
It was no wonder why You Xia had set the stage for the golden bird. If Golden Roc intended to compete to become the next Seraph, he was certainly qualified to do so.
Provided that the bird could defeat all other competitors and enter Dukkha, Golden Roc would be the Spirit Nidus’s next Seraph.
However, both the Primal Beastland and everyone else in the Spirit Nidus had underestimated Lu Yin. Only the High Seraph knew just how powerful Lu Yin truly was.
A flash of gold flickered in front of Lu Yin. Golden Roc was attacking with his talons, slashing them at Lu Yin.
Nian Xian warily watched the battle. Golden Roc's talons were powerful enough that they had once impressed even Emperor Wu. If the Third Boss was brash enough to meet this attack head-on, he would definitely be in trouble.
The talons fell upon Lu Yin. Golden Roc’s eyes blazed with bloodlust. Die!
Lu Yin’s eyes rose, and he reached out with both hands to grab the descending talons.
Eyes everywhere bulged as people watched. Everyone was familiar with Golden Roc’s legend. They knew that this bird had managed to scratch even Seraph Emperor Wu. Could the Third Boss survive this attack?
Far away, in outer space, Old Tao was startled. "Third Boss, I warned you! You still want to meet his talons directly?"
Mr. Li watched from the Wisdom Domain, while You Xia watched from below.
This exchange could determine the battle.
The Primal Beastland was destined to gain another Seraph.
Golden Roc's talons hid their sharpness. They appeared to be quite ordinary, but as they fell, Lu Yin felt a frigid energy that caused even him to be on edge.
Wielder-realm battle force covered his arms, but even that was not enough. Lu Yin was confident in his physical strength, but he also knew that there were a few who had surpassed him. For instance, there was True God, the High Seraph, and possibly Emperor Wu. Golden Roc's talons might have reached the limit in regards to sharpness.
Dirt appeared, and it overlapped atop Lu Yin’s battle force. He had brought out his Dust World.
Lu Yin was suddenly reminded of Ancient God. He had experienced a breakthrough with his battle force, surpassing Wielder - Indestructible and reaching Wielder - God, which was a blackish-gray battle force. The power of that battle force had even incited the Lord of Lightning’s envy.
The talons dropped, but Lu Yin reached up and grabbed them with both hands.
The universe itself seemed to scream.
There was a moment of silence, quickly followed by a sharp shockwave that shot out from the point of impact. It looked like it had sliced the entire universe in two.
In the distance, many cultivators had just happened to be standing along that slice’s path. It cut through their bodies, and they died without ever knowing why.
Old Tao and Lu Yin’s followers happened to be standing beneath the slice.
The sharp energy passed by them, sending chills down their spines as it did so.
Palace Master Yao’s expression turned grim. Golden Roc’s strength was absolutely terrifying. So far, the Third Boss had not faced a single opponent during his travels who was weaker than Palace Master Yao. Her reputation for being the strongest cultivator beneath the Seven Seraphs had been more a flattery than a statement of fact.
Still, almost everyone that the Third Boss had faced had previously fought for the position of Seraph. So in some ways, they could be considered experts at the level of the Seven Seraphs.
At this moment, the most frustrated individual, the one who wanted to curse the most, was Astral Anura.
In order to get a clear view of the battles in the Umbral Deep, he had moved atop one of the sedan’s bars. The slice that had shot past had nearly grazed the toad’s head, and he was still chilled by that near miss.
While that slice would not have been enough to kill Astral Anura, it would have certainly sliced through his skin and caused him to bleed.
That bastard Lu Yin! That stupid gold bird!
For the moment, no one cared about the cultivators who had been caught up in the battle and died. Everyone’s focus remained fixed on the sky above the Umbral Deep, where both Golden Roc and Lu Yin stood without moving.
Everyone was staring at Golden Roc's talons.
Lu Yin was still tightly holding onto the talons. Both the soil of his Dust World and his Wielder-realm battle force had been penetrated. The sharpness of these talons had even managed to cut into Lu Yin's flesh, through his skin. This attack had surpassed the limits of what Lu Yin could endure even with Extremes Must Be Reversed. It was no wonder how this bird had managed to scratch Emperor Wu.
Lu Yin’s arm had been sliced open, but Golden Roc was not happy about it at all.
Impossible, did this human actually block me? He actually stopped my talons, just like Emperor Wu?
Golden Roc was not actually proud of the fact that he had left three scratches on Emperor Wu, because the bird’s goal had been to completely tear Emperor Wu’s body apart. Despite all his efforts, he had only managed to leave three scratches. While that had amazed others, it had been a terrible blow to Golden Roc’s confidence.
The bird had been so rattled by his failure that he had actually abandoned strengthening his talons. He had shifted his focus to his Treasureform sequence particles, hoping to gain defenses as impressive as Emperor Wu himself.
At that moment, Lu Yin attacked again.
The bird had managed to leave three cuts on Lu Yin’s arms, but nothing more.
Lu Yin complimented, “Not bad. I underestimated you.”
The golden bird’s eyes were intensely focused on Lu Yin. This human clearly had not used his full power yet.
The bird suddenly lost control of his body before a powerful blow struck him in the neck. He grew dizzy, and his vision spun as he plummeted from the sky.
Lu Yin had simply grabbed Golden Roc and punched the bird, but even that only managed to stun the bird into free falling. Lu Yin had not actually broken through the Treasureform sequence particles.
With both his sharp talons and his Treasureform’s high defense, Golden Roc was certainly qualified to fight for the position of Seraph.
However, the bird was still far from being capable of defeating Lu Yin.
The outcome of their battle had become all too clear.
Everyone watched as Golden Roc fell. The bird was like a golden meteor, and he just happened to land near You Xia.
Standing in the sky above the Umbral Deep, Lu Yin’s clothes were torn, but the cuts on his arms quickly disappeared. He turned and looked over at Nian Xian.
The man’s scalp went numb. He pulled out a brush, created another stream of water sequence particles, and then forced out a smile. "Just to be clear, your big brother over here doesn’t want to compete for the title of Seraph. If you release Qing Yun, I’ll owe you a favor. We can just talk everything out."
Lu Yin’s eyes grew cold. "Since you attacked me, you must be prepared to die, right?"
Nian Xian coughed. "That’s not actually the case. Seriously, why are you so stubborn? I’m just asking for Qing Yun. There are plenty of stunning women in the Spirit Nidus. If you want one, I’ll grab another for you.
"Release Qing Yun, and there will be nothing between us. What do you think?"
Seeing the hope in Nian Xian’s eyes, Lu Yin said nothing. Instead, his attention wandered in the opposite direction.
He looked at a group who had been watching the battle. As soon as they noticed Lu Yin’s gaze on them, they all instinctively stepped back. His attention made them feel as though the sky was about to fall down on them.
What does the Third Boss want with us? We were just watching. We’d never try to get involved in something like this.
Lu Yin’s gaze put immense pressure on the crowd of cultivators, and the group scattered in all directions. Only one old man remained, leaning on a cane while he sat on a stone, shaking slightly.
The nearby group had not paid much attention to the old man. He was nothing exceptional among cultivators.
However, the dispersing crowd revealed the focus of Lu Yin's gaze. He was staring directly at the old man.
The old man lifted his head. His features were as weathered as a rotting tree root. Dust had accumulated within his wrinkles, which induced a feeling of nausea in many who saw him.
"Old man, how much longer are you going to just watch?" Lu Yin demanded.
He had avoided simply killing both You Xia and Golden Roc, and it was entirely because of this old man.
Countless eyes locked onto the old man sitting on the rock on the ground.
On the opposite side of the Umbral Deep, within the Wisdom Domain, Mr. Li stared at the old man. He was initially confused, but then the Dukkhan’s expression changed. "Old Salamander?"
Further away, Old Yu let out a breath. "Is that old freak actually here? Has he not given up on becoming a Seraph?"
"Old Salamander... I remember now! That’s the Primal Beastland’s Old Salamander!" someone exclaimed.
This comment shocked countless people, and they all stared at the old man.
Old Salamander was a truly ancient creature. He was older than Emperor Wu, and he was even older than the High Seraph himself. He had witnessed generations of Seraphs rise and fall, watched as the Wisdom Domain’s hidden heirs had become the domain’s rulers. He had borne witness to countless competitions for the title of Seraph.
Old Salamander was a piece of living history.
No one had expected such an ancient figure to make an appearance.
Behind the old man, a young person appeared. They were a young man with an attractive white face, and despite his apparent youth, his eyes blazed with incredible arrogance.
Lu Yin had seen this young man before.

In Ninerings City, this young man had been the first to try to merge with the light of the Nine Horizons. He possessed an impressive aura.
Little Salamander was staring straight back at Lu Yin. His impression of this Third Boss was far too deep.
During the Nine Horizons event, Little Salamander had successfully merged with the light, but Lu Yin had broken the rules of the event, and he had pulled the light down into Ninerings City. That had completely and utterly ruined Little Salamander’s plans to become famous throughout the megaverse. However, while that should have triggered feelings of hatred, after the stories of the Third Boss’s battles spread, Little Salamander had not dared to develop any sort of hatred for the man. The Third Boss was a ruthless individual. In fact, his behavior had reminded Little Salamander of Emperor Wu.
The young man had accompanied Old Salamander to the Umbral Deep, though he did not know why. He remained ignorant to the purpose, even as Lu Yin’s eyes latched onto the two men. His gaze caused Little Salamander’s heart to tremble.
Old Salamander lifted his head to look at Lu Yin. "I came here today not to fight for the title of Seraph, but rather to observe the Third Boss’s prowess."
Lu Yin remained standing above the Umbral Deep. His Karmic Dao was still protecting him from the karmic backlash, and he was shrouded in the golden light of his Investiture of the Gods. It made him look like some sort of divinity. "Three times."
Lu Yin's voice echoed across the ground and throughout the universe. "Three times you’ve betrayed your intent to kill me. First was when I fought against Bao Qi and his Cauldron Bell’s silent power surrounded me. The second was when that sequence base shattered and Wraithmother ambushed me. The third time was when Golden Roc attacked with his talons.
"Three times, you’ve revealed your desire to kill me, old man. Do you think that I’m blind?"
Everyone was left confused, as they could not understand why Old Salamander would want to kill the Third Boss.
While the Grandverse Manor and Primal Beastland had some grudges and might even be considered enemies, Old Salamander had always been a reclusive individual who simply sought to enjoy his twilight years somewhere in the Primal Beastland. He had never gotten involved in any of the Primal Beastland’s external affairs, and he had long withdrawn from any sort of competition for the title of Seraph.
Why did he want to take action at this moment?
