Strange Worlds-Chapter 264: Competition Start
Chapter 264: Competition Start
"Just do your best," Aya consoled.
"Yes."
"Let’s go."
They walked to the venue and saw the four large arenas that were prepared for them. Even though they were only lower ranked magic warriors at most, the arenas prepared for them were big enough for them to play around.
There was also a protective formation around the arena to prevent their magic from hurting the audiences.
Some of their magic might be too powerful, so this enchantment is needed to protect them.
Aya looked around and scanned the other people who participated. There were many magic warriors between the age of 12 to 18 in the academy, including those who had graduated. However, not all of them were interested in participating in this competition.
They would rather be the spectator.
"I’m the second."
Leon was eager to show his ability and eagerly waited for his name to be called. The others nodded and then went to their seat. After all, their numbers were a bit behind, so they have to wait first.
Before long, the competition started.
Naturally, the first one to come forward was the Fourth Head of the Wansu City who gave a long speech about how proud he is of them and bla bla bla...
Aya dozed off during this part.
The others were also struggling to stay awake and showed some respect to the Fourth Head of the Wansu City. But seriously... Does he need to talk so much?
"Now that the speech is over..." A young man took a step forward to preside over the yearly competition and smiled at the children. "I declare the competition officially started. Everyone who hold the number one please come to the stage for each blocks."
There were a total of 64 participants and those who got the same number would fight with each other. Because of this, the others were basically at the middle and the end. Especially Evan who accidentally got the last possible number. He would have to wait for a long time before it was their turn.
The children went to the stage.
Looking at their appearance, Aya felt that they were really young. The average age of these participants should be around 15 years old.
Perhaps it was because these children planned to graduate after this.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Their magic clashed against each other and it looked...
very boring.
"Don’t they know how to attack with their physical body?" Dean couldn’t help but complain when he saw the two people were standing on their respective end of the stage and didn’t show any intention to step forward.
It was really boring.
In the real battle, there was no way they would wait until their opponent finished chanting their spell and would rush forward first. This was what they have been doing when they fought during their missions. Dean felt that the quality of these games were really low.
"You can’t expect too much from them," Aya said helplessly.
These students had never truly participated in real battle and thought that battle is more about testing each other’s magic spells. While the competition can be friendly, but this was clearly lowering the standard too much.
"They didn’t have much real battle experience," Evan added.
"But even in our battles, we’ll fight without waiting for the others to finish their magic spell. If possible, I’ll definitely interrupt your magic spell," Dean complained.
Even if it was sparring, they would try their best to interrupt their opponent’s magic spell. Moreover, they would not stand at the edge of the arena without moving like that.
Don’t they know that static targets are the easiest targets?
Only if they move around, even if it was not fast, would it be possible for them to make things a bit more difficult for their opponent.
Dean had a thousand complaints in his mind.
"Not everyone spar like us," Evan said quietly. "Besides, I think that you should remember we used to fight directly with our physical skills because our bodies are stronger but if these two people are pure mages..."
"Then they will lose," Aya said calmly.
Some pure mages were pure support, but there were also pure attackers and even pure defenders. These magicians were pursuing the extreme of their choice and would have the best magic spell. But at the same time, their casting spell time was usually very long.
Because if one wants to mobilize the most of their mana, they have to either learn to control their mana better or to cast slower in order to be more efficient in their mana use. Either choice would make them vulnerable and for these children, their mana control was still very limited.
The only thing they could do was to slow down their casting speed.
Otherwise, most of their mana would be wasted.
’But this kind of battle is very boring.’
Aya liked the style of magic warriors the most. They could attack, defend, fight physically, or use magic spells interchangeably. There were more options to them.
Granted that they would have to disperse their focus and would take more time in training, but it was more worthwhile for Aya.
Otherwise, she didn’t feel that it was worth it.

The slow first battle in four arenas was very boring.
Even the Fourth Head of the Wansu City looked at this scene and felt that the quality of the students had decreased over the years. These students would die if they went out and fought against those magic beasts or other magic warriors.
"These are the best students this year?" the Fourth Head of the Wansu City turned to look at the principal, who was one of the elders, the fourth elders of Wansu City. Moreover, this fourth elder was also the Fourth Head of the Wansu City’s son.
It could be said that the Fourth Head of the Wansu City was making use of his position to arrange for his family members the more comfortable work possible in Wansu City.
