“We are not in cahoots with the robber.”

Supreme Firmament Trueman echoed in agreement, “Also, now is not the time to be fighting among ourselves. Our first priority is retrieving the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass!”

“That’s right. We must retrieve the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass from that shameless bastard. Then, we’ll...” Shi Xiaotian was going to say, “Rip the bastard to shreds,” but then he recalled the strange and unfathomable method they used to entrap the three of them earlier and trailed off. He realized then that they were probably no match for the robber.

Still, they couldn’t give up on the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass. They just couldn’t!

Supreme Firmament Trueman scanned the surroundings and perceived the energy fluctuations in the air closely. “The Nine Tribulations Undying Grass is born from tribulations. It contains the imprint of tribulations and could summon heavenly tribulations at will. No matter how powerful that robber is, there is no way they could conceal themselves perfectly. I’m sure we’ll be able to track them down.”

The Southern Sea Dragon King did not say a word. Although his expression remained gloomy, he did not try to attack the two Sages either. He was perceiving the energy fluctuations around them just like Supreme Firmament Trueman.

It wasn’t because he believed that Supreme Firmament Trueman and Shi Xiaotian were innocent, at least not completely. They were simply right in that locating the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass took precedence here.

If they could not locate the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass, then what was the point in bashing their head in? He could rip them to a million pieces, and it still would be pointless.

A few breaths later, both Supreme Firmament Trueman and Southern Sea Dragon King looked to the southeast direction at the same time. They both sensed an irregular energy fluctuation and tribulation intent in that direction.

The trio took off without hesitation. They reached their destination in just the blink of an eye.

“Where is the bastard?”

When they arrived, they did not find the robber who stole the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass from them though.

A deep frown etched on his face, the Southern Sea Dragon King scanned his surroundings until suddenly, he sensed something and blanched. “It’s a trap! Retreat!”

It was at this moment a red mist gushed out of the ground. Countless dark red mycelia were mixed in it. They were as innumerable and tiny as specks of dust.

Not only that, the mycelia were clearly swimming in the mist like living insects. It was horrifying to put it mildly.

The blood drained away from all three Sages’ faces as soon as they saw the mycelia. They were all deeply terrified.

“Run!”

The trio did not hesitate. They immediately turned tail and ran away... or at least they tried to, when a horrifying sight stopped them dead in their tracks.

They did not know when or how it happened, but a thick, pentachromatic cloud was covering their heads and cutting off their only path of retreat.

They were trapped by the pentachromatic cloud before, so they knew that they would lose all of their power the moment they were caught in it. The effect was irresistible even at their level.

They could have three extra gall bladders, and they still didn’t dare to enter the pentachromatic cloud.

“Despicable bastard!”

The Southern Sea Dragon King roared in anger, “I dare you to fight me fair and square!”

Clearly, the pentachromatic cloud belonged to the shameless bastard who robbed them earlier.

“Hahaha... ask me again after you’ve gotten out of your predicament!”

A gloating voice replied, “Oh right, that’s the mycelia of the Taisui Mushroom. They’re very scary, so you best be on your toes. Do not let even a speck of it enter your body, or they will eat you alive and leave nothing behind.”

“No need to thank me. You gave me the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass, so it’s only right that I give you some intel. It is impolite not to reciprocate, and reciprocation makes good friends, am I right?”

The Southern Sea Dragon King, Supreme Firmament Trueman and Shi Xiaotian were all speechless. Who the fuck gave you the the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass? You’re the one who took it without permission!

Also, the reason we’re in this crisis is because of you! It is impolite not to reciprocate, reciprocation makes good friends? Can you stop slandering and misusing these idioms?!

Unfortunately, there was no time for retorts. The red mycelia was already right in front of them, and they were everywhere.

The trio did not dare to underestimate the red mycelia. They protected themselves with all sorts of qi and unleashed their Magia and secret arts at the same time. They used water, fire, wind and lightning in an attempt to wipe out the mycelia.

However, the trio’s eyes quickly widened in shock and disbelief. It was because their Magia and secret arts failed to do any damage to the mycelia. Not only that, it nourished them and caused them to grow much bigger and stronger.

In just the blink of an eye, the mycelia had consumed the devastating elements into nothing. They also became several times bigger than before.

“What the...”

The three Sages were worldly and knowledgeable, but even they had never witnessed something so ridiculous in their entire lives. Not only had their strongest attacks failed to damage their enemy in the slightest, it even strengthened them. How on earth were they going to survive this? They might as well just wait for death to claim them.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you, but the mycelia of the Taisui Mushroom is capable of feeding on all things and energies and turning them into nourishment. Shi Xiaotian yelled furiously, “You don’t fucking say! We’re not blind! Tell us something we don’t know!”

The voice continued unhurriedly, “You want to know how to deal with the mycelia? That can be done. It will cost you though.”

The Southern Sea Dragon King forced down his fury and growled, “What on earth do you want? You already have the Nine Tribulations Undying Grass. What else can you possibly want? Our lives?”

“I’m just joking. Don’t get mad!” the voice replied uncaringly. “Anyway, anything that consists of true qi or spiritual energies are useless against the mycelia. In that case, just don’t use true qi and crush them to death via brute force. They’re very frail.”

“But of course, you gotta be careful not to let the mycelia into your bodies. Otherwise, even I can do nothing for you besides putting in the ground and making you a grave.”

“Don’t worry. We are friends. I will definitely give you a proper burial.”

“You’re such a good guy, aren’t you?”

If they ignored what the robber did to them earlier, then the robber could be considered a good and moral person.

However the robber did rob them and put them in this situation, so the trio were only confused to the max. They just could not figure out what they were plotting or whose side they were on.

Of course, now wasn’t the time to be thinking about this. It was because the Taisui Mushroom’s mycelia had reached them.

At the beginning, the three Sages were worried that the robber was scheming something. Although they had no choice but to test out the method they spoke of, they were ready for things to go terribly south.

However, they soon realized that the method the robber spoke of actually worked. The mycelia was unusually frail, and it was very easy to kill them with brute strength. Not only that, they weren’t growing nearly as rapidly as before.

Most importantly, the robber didn’t try to trick them this time.
