STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 701: Finding the Thorn trees!
Wilderness
Jeremy Night was inside the gap, his heart racing non-stop. His senses were screaming at him because the danger was just outside, one step away from finding the small opening.
Jeremy tried to calm his heart. He could literally hear the sound of wings flapping.
He didn’t know whether the flying beast could find his spot, so he tried to relax as much as possible and began to analyze the situation.
He knew the opening of the cave was small, while the size of the beast was massive. It couldn’t enter the collapsed ground, let alone find the opening of the cave.
After gaining some clarity, his heart calmed down. He began to wait for the massive beast to leave.
Time went by.
Exactly one hour later, the buzzing sound disappeared. But Jeremy didn’t leave; he continued to wait there.
Outside
The massive Tier-6 Tsetse Fly Beast had failed to find the prey. The scent of the prey stopped here, but it didn’t find a body.
The Tier-6 beast had intelligence; it connected the dots and confirmed that the prey could have been buried underground. The ground collapse could have led to its death.
Buzz!
The Tier-6 beast then left the spot, leading the swarm away. These beasts hunted human beast tamers from time to time.
Instead of wasting more time, the Tier-6 Tsetse Fly Beast decided to find other prey in the wilderness.
One hour later, Jeremy Night cut down the rock blocking the entrance with his katana blade. Multiple blade cuts appeared on the rock before it crumbled into small pieces.
Jeremy walked out of the small opening, raised his head, and saw the ground above.
There were no massive beasts. He returned to the surface and started observing his surroundings. His eyes scanned the area, but there were no corrupted beasts whatsoever.
After confirming that the Tsetse Fly Beast was gone, he didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he tried to find clues.
There were destroyed trees along the way, the path used by the fly beast. He analyzed the clues and realized the damage was fresh. It must have been left by the fly beast as it departed.
Jeremy Night’s eyes glinted with understanding. The beast was now moving toward the east, while his mission location was to the north.
He calmed his heart and took a few items from his storage ring. He had brought "beast odour" earlier. The smell was disgusting; most corrupted beasts would stay away from it.
Beast Tamers felt the same, they avoided the smell, but many used similar odours to protect themselves. He smeared the odour on his body and put the container away. Then, he started heading north.
He slowed his speed. The earlier frantic run had tired him out, and now he wanted to complete the mission with a calm mind. As time went by, he didn’t see any beasts as he drew closer to his destination.
A few hours later, he reached the mission spot unharmed. Strangely, he hadn’t come across any corrupted beasts on the path.
He knew it was because of the strange odour. Jeremy noticed the sky was getting dark and realized he needed to complete the mission as soon as possible.
His mission was to collect the leaves of the Thorn Trees. His gaze swept across the area. In the plain, he came across thorn-type trees growing over 100 meters tall.
He opened the mission description to read it again. There was a picture of the trees; seeing it, he confirmed they were the same.
He wondered what the use of the leaves was. He reached one of the trees and noticed fallen leaves on the ground. He immediately began to collect them into a box.
Time went by.
Eventually, night fell. He had cleared the ground around most of the thorn trees. After completing the mission, he decided to leave, but suddenly, something struck his mind.
He had a good chance to analyze the place, so he didn’t leave immediately. He began to observe the thorny trees from a close distance.
His mind was calm and serene. His eyesight was not a problem; he could still see clearly in the dark. As time passed, he noticed changes in the environment.
He felt a natural energy that was extremely pure and richer than before. He sensed the thorn trees were absorbing this energy. It was almost similar to a paid practice room.
Buzz!
The next second, the unknown beast egg inside his mental zone began to shake. The egg became active and started absorbing the natural energy from the environment.
Jeremy was dumbfounded. He was right; the natural energy in the surroundings was richer. Otherwise, the unknown beast egg wouldn’t have reacted.
He understood now why the leaves of the thorn trees were important; they likely contained ingredients for something vital.
The Association knew about these effects. That’s why they had left the trees here and purposely let them grow. It appeared they sent Beast Tamers like him from time to time to collect the leaves.
After gaining this understanding, his heart felt at ease. He sat down under a tree and started running his breathing method. Pure, rich natural energy entered his body.
As he practiced, he found the energy moved faster than usual, flowing smoothly. Jeremy found this very surprising; he didn’t expect the healing energy to become this active.
His body cells began to absorb the energy. He felt cool and refreshed. The earlier tiredness vanished from his physique, and his mind became clearer.
Jeremy sighed. He had made a good decision to stay. If he came across a beast again, he would perform better.
As long as he stayed away from Tier-6 Tsetse Fly Beasts, he would be fine. He pushed those thoughts aside and continued to practice.
He thinks there is a good chance for him to reach the barrier. If he reached the barrier to the next mid stage, then would try to attempt a breakthrough here.
This place is a good spot for the breakthrough.
