STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 726: Villain Nick
Field
Cut!
Jeremy Night used his blade. The blade in his hand danced before striking down the blood rat beasts. As the seconds went by, the mutilated bodies of blood rat beasts were scattered across the ground.
Slowly, the field was dyed a blood-red color. A pungent smell filled the air. It didn’t take long for Jeremy Night to kill the last beast.
Jeremy’s heart was not calm. He believed that someone was behind the incident, but his mission details were clear: his task was to reduce the number of blood rat beasts.
After contemplating, he decided to wait and see.
Time passed.
He faced a few more waves of attacks, but he dealt with them quickly.
The next morning, Jeremy Night was resting under a tree. From time to time, he opened his eyes to observe the surroundings.
The field around him was littered with the rat beasts’ corpses. He had killed more than one hundred rat beasts. All of them ranged between Tier-3 and below.
He glanced at them casually before closing his eyes. Though he had doubts about the mission, he was satisfied with the environment here.
There was no threat of higher-tier corrupted beasts, so he could rest wherever he wanted. There was no need to find a hideout for staying.
One hour later
He heard something. The sound was minute, yet he opened his eyes and started using his eye ability. Then, he found a Tier-3 rat beast not far away from him. It had just come from beneath the ground.
He noticed the beast was inside his shooting range. He took out his handgun and pointed it toward the rat beast.
Bang!
He covered the ammunition with starlight power before pulling the trigger. The starlight bullet went in a straight line before puncturing the head of the rat beast.
Pfff!
The Tier-3 rat beast died the next second. Jeremy then swept his gaze across the field again. His vision zoomed in to see clearly.
He didn’t find any other rat beasts coming to the surface. After confirming that, he closed his eyes again.
If another beast appeared, he would know. His senses were strong to begin with. So, he rested again.
Two hours later
He was disturbed by the sound of a four-wheeler. Jeremy opened his eyes. He turned his head and saw the same middle-aged man, Nick.
"What is the association staff doing here?" Jeremy thought.
He had thought Nick would leave after showing him the place. Why was he here? Jeremy didn’t get up to go and meet him.
He sat under the tree and continued to look toward the car. Nick parked the car in front of the field.
He then stepped out. He hurriedly went to the field and saw the scattered corpses across the field. His eyes gleamed with a twinkle.
He didn’t stop looking. He roamed around the field before finding the suspicious green liquid. It is completely dried out now. No green smoke was coming from it.
Jeremy Night used his eye ability to zoom in. He was watching what the staff was up to. The staff’s actions didn’t go unnoticed.
He saw that the staff was looking at the suspicious green liquid. Jeremy’s eyes flashed with a cold glint. He realized that the staff knew about the green liquid.
Yet, he hadn’t shared the news with him. That green liquid had lured out the blood rat beasts in large numbers.
Such an important matter was hidden from him; it was not even mentioned in the mission description.
He was slightly angry. He waited for the staff to come. He would confront him directly.
The staff confirmed that all the green, suspicious liquid was dried out. No smoke was coming from it.
He then turned around and found the Beast Tamer sitting under the tree. He seemed alright. Nick then walked up to him, a smile on his face.
When he got there, he observed the Beast Tamer from top to bottom.
"It appears you are strong. You have managed to survive," Nick said in a mocking tone.
Jeremy Night stood up and looked into the eyes of the middle-aged man. He felt malicious intent from the person. He looked different from yesterday.
"Is this his real self?" Jeremy thought.
"Are you surprised?" Nick asked with a small laugh. "Actually, we are testing a new product. The new product worked fine. It was able to lure out a large number of blood rat beasts," Nick added.
Jeremy Night’s heart boiled in anger.
He asked, "What are you doing?"
"The Association won’t let go of this matter," he added.
Hearing that, the smile on Nick’s face disappeared.
"The Association doesn’t know. You won’t be able to tell them." After saying that, he acted.
A sharp shard of glass appeared in his hand out of nowhere. He tried to stab the Beast Tamer in front of him. Jeremy Night’s senses kicked in. He felt the movement happening in front of him was slower.
His body shifted. At the same time, he swept his right leg across Nick’s abdomen.
Boom!
When the kick connected, Nick’s attack missed. His eyes widened in disbelief. The force of the kick sent his body flying back. He crashed into the field among the pile of corpses with a heavy thud.
Jeremy’s eyes turned cold. He realized that Nick was using the identity of the staff to work for someone else.
Swoosh!
He disappeared from the spot and got closer to Nick.
"Aaahhh!"
A low grunt escaped from Nick’s mouth. He couldn’t believe he was attacked by the young Beast Tamer. His internal organs were hurt. The Beast Tamer would definitely kill him.
When he raised his head, he saw the person standing in front of him. His eyes filled with fear. His earlier demeanor was gone. Now, he looked scared.
"I surrender. Spare my life," Nick said.
Jeremy didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He had never seen such an idiot before. Even the thugs from the Skull Gang were better.
"Are you stupid?"
"Why did you attack me?" Jeremy asked.
Hearing that, Nick hesitated.
"If you don’t tell me, I’ll feed you to the blood rat beasts," Jeremy said in a cold tone.
Nick shuddered. If he revealed the truth, he would die. If he didn’t, he would die at the hands of the person in front of him.
Jeremy frowned. He didn’t think the matter was simple. Lately, he had been coming across members of criminal organizations.
There was more than one criminal organization in the city. In particular, the Darkshade organization was no weaker than the Beast Taming Organization in the city.
If there was another conspiracy, then he needed to stop it.
"If you don’t want to die, then tell me!" Jeremy threatened again.
Nick’s mental defenses crumbled after hearing the repeated threats. He couldn’t withstand the pressure anymore.
He said, "I’ll say it. Please, spare my life."
"I’m doing it for the young master. The young master’s Lifebound beast is a Rat King. He needs the corpse of another Rat King beast to strengthen his own," Nick revealed.
Jeremy Night’s heart stirred. He didn’t expect someone to bond with a Blood Rat beast. It was a corrupted beast to begin with.
How can one contract with a corrupted beast? He hadn’t heard of this before. Jeremy’s gaze fell on the middle-aged man. His gaze hardened.
"Are you lying?"
"How can one contract with corrupted beasts?" Jeremy asked.
Nick was stunned. Then he realized he had misspoken. His eyes filled with fear.
Jeremy Night was angry. If he didn’t do anything now, the man might not answer. He unsheathed his blade and made a small cut in a flash.
Pfff!
Blood gushed forth from Nick’s arm. Bone was revealed. Seeing this, Nick was terrified. He didn’t dare to hide anything.
"My young master has a beast-related talent. He can contract with corrupted beasts as well," Nick said.
Hearing this, Jeremy understood. It had to do with talent. No wonder they were doing such experiments.
"Why did you try to kill me?" Jeremy asked.
Nick said, "It’s my young master’s order. He doesn’t want the secret to be leaked."
"So the previous Beast Tamers who took the missions all died?" Jeremy asked.
Nick said, "They agreed not to reveal the truth. They had some background as well. But I found out that you are not from the 5th Zone, so I tried to eliminate you."
Jeremy’s eyes flickered.
"So you went to dig up my information last night. Otherwise, you could have attacked me yesterday," Jeremy said.
"Yes," Nick replied.
"Who is your master? Where is he from?" Jeremy asked.
Nick struggled, but he gritted his teeth and said, "My young master was born here. He is one of the genius students of Central University 5."
"His name is Tyson Hill. He is from one of the Beast Taming families here."
"His current strength is Tier-5. He is a fourth-year student," Nick added.
A strange glint flashed in Jeremy’s eyes. He pondered whether to kill the person or not. If Nick died, his backer would find out; yet, Jeremy felt he had no choice but to release him.
Jeremy sheathed his blade and said, "Give me the mission completion report. I will go back. I won’t reveal the matter to a third person. You can live as well."
Nick sighed in relief, though his heart was filled with anger. He couldn’t do anything to the person right now, so he could only obey.
