Strongest Boyfriend In The Apocalypse: Every Girl Depends On Me!-Chapter 21: Sorry, I Only Keep Female Friends
Anna couldn’t believe her eyes.
At that very moment, she tried to convince herself that she was in a dream.
She had to blink many times before accepting that she wasn’t.
That was Lance, the guy she had already said "yes" to at the party before the disaster began.
Her boyfriend...
"La... Lance... Is that you?"
Lance’s face was dark, and while he was angered by the fact that Ethan had captured them, he still felt bitter about Anna meeting him this way.
The plan was to capture her like the rest and do every damn thing I had in mind for her holes. Damn!
"You have been the one behind all this, Lance?" Anna asked, her voice breaking with every word.
Lance shook his head at once and tried to approach her, but Ethan gave him an unspoken order to step back with the gun pointed at him.
"I can explain, Anna... I—"
"You have nothing to explain, Lance. You are a monster!"
"Take a look at what you’ve done to them... your schoolmates who have families just like you. You are torturing them... harassing them."
"I never knew you were a monster, but thank goodness our relationship never lasted for a day."
"You are cursed... I hate you!"
All those words hit Lance in the chest, and the more he tried to talk, the more she struck him with words.
Getting a taste of the campus belle would have been great, but unfortunately, it didn’t look like that would be happening anymore.
I was this close... Damn it!
With their weapons restricted, Ethan forced them out of the room, leading them to the gym room.
Noticing that Ethan came with other armed people, they didn’t dare try anything stupid.
An M16 shows no mercy.
Gracie untied Nina, while Mella went for Miss Audrey. They soon gathered in the gym room, where Ethan stood to make his judgment.
As a young man who was just trying to save his d*ck, he didn’t want to engage in taking lives.
He was still suffering from the shock of gunning down a human being, and he wasn’t sure he would get over it anytime soon.
Why would he want to take another?
However...
While he was still figuring out what to do, Nina walked out of the room in hurried footsteps, grabbed Eva’s rifle at once, and turned to Lance.
"Nina, no—" Ethan tried to reach out to her, but—
DAK-DAK-DAK-DAK!
It was already too late.
With bullets bursting through his skull, it only took one shot before Lance fell to his death, and as she shot at him, she screamed the rage out of her veins.
Watching their boss die miserably, Karen and the rest of them were almost pissing their pants.
But fortunately for them, there were no bullets left, and Nina’s friends wouldn’t let her do any more killing.
Seeing his head blown up, Nina finally felt satisfied as she walked out of the gym room without sparing a glance at anyone.
Even Anna and the rest of the girls were terrified by her actions, but at this point, they understood what she might have gone through to react that way.
"You’re lucky she used all the bullets on your so-called boss. You might have been with him right now," Ethan said to them.
Their once confident and vibrant faces had now turned cold and dull, like they were in a pit they couldn’t climb out of.
The scene was epic, but in the end, the good thing was that they had saved the captives.
Ethan didn’t know how many had died in there, but at least that wasn’t very important at this moment.
"You have a chance to rewrite your lives now. The world is in ruins, full of those monsters. It only takes bravery and humility to survive."
Ethan soon remembered the letter his father had written to him before he died. Ethan was still very young, so telling him face-to-face wouldn’t have given him a reason to understand.
So his father wrote a letter, which Ethan discovered days before entering college.
"Don’t let the cruelty of the world change you."
That was the last line of the letter, and right now, it felt as if it had been written to guide him at this stage of the world.
Ethan took the six captives left in the gym room, all girls, as they left the building.
While they were disappearing out of sight, Karen and the other boys suddenly ran up to Ethan.
"Please, Ethan. Can we come with you? We want to," Karen said.
Ethan furrowed his brows, turning to Anna, Eva, Helen, Gracie, Mella, and then Nina.
They all showed no different reactions, which matched his own.
"Umm... sorry. I don’t accept male friends."
Karen’s face turned dark at once as they left in frustration. This wasn’t about keeping friends anymore... it was about trust.
After all, keeping male friends wasn’t part of the goal. That was definitely why Ethan didn’t hesitate.
And fortunately, the rest of the group were happy with his decision.
They all went back to the Lecturers’ Lodge, which had now become very overcrowded.
They were now thirteen in number, and it was already becoming overwhelming for Ethan.
However, he knew it was still his cross to carry until the very end of the Core Mission.
...
[Daily Intelligence Alert!]
[Day 0006:]
— Due to the rapidly increasing number of zombies in Western Gibson, the Georgian government has decided to launch a missile that will affect the whole of New Land University. This will occur at 1:20 AM.
"A daily intelligence alert in the middle of the night?!" Ethan woke up angrily to see the interface floating before his face without his command.
"Why is—wait... what?!"
[Normal Mission 6: Get every girl out of this part of Gibson City before the missile drops.]
[Note that this mission is connected to the Core Mission.]
[You are almost there, Host.]
Ethan was still staring in confusion when he went straight to check the time.
(1:09 AM)
He then rechecked the time on the interface.
(1:20)
The moment his eyes landed on the numbers, his heart almost left his body.
He only had eleven minutes to get out of Western Gibson, which, if not only impossible, was outright diabolical.
