Strongest Boyfriend In The Apocalypse: Every Girl Depends On Me!-Chapter 29: The Special Force
"This is the Special Force of the Georgian State. We demand an immediate explanation of where you are coming from, and where you are heading."
One of the armed men had stepped forward towards Ethan, and he didn’t need any introduction to understand that he was their leader.
Not the because he was the one on the driver’s seat, but because he had been the one to instruct the rest to do as they had ordered.
"We are students from New Land University. Obviously, we are coming from there, and we are heading towards Atlanta," Ethan responded politely with his hands still raised above his head.
"New Land?" The officer was shocked by his response, definitely due to where they were coming from.
He gave Ethan a slight look of doubt and turned to his comrades, calling forth one of them to come over.
They exchanged words for a moment before he turned back to Ethan, who was still delivering the orders he had been given.
"Are you very sure about what you just said, kid?" The officer asked again, this time his face more stern as he sought to know if they were saying the truth or not.
"I’m very much sure, sir..."
Ethan gave a confident nod.
The officer glanced at the rest of them through the windows, and he appeared to notice that they were all youngsters, which brought up the rate of belief.
However, it was when he sighted Nina at the end that he flinched and furrowed his brows.
"She’s also from New Land?" He asked with a glare.
Ethan gave Nina and quick look and returned his gaze to the officer.
This doesn’t look like they would get into trouble if they tell the truth. He had known Special Force officers or even some other security agencies as figures who would need up asking questions for no reason.
And sometimes, those questions happened to fish out some criminal offences or even criminals themselves.
Ethan saw no reason why he should be lying...
"She came for her brother when it started. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make it, and she decided to be with us," he said.
"What happened to him?" The officer asked.
Ethan hesitated for a moment before responding.
"He got bit... And we discovered that..."
"People who got bit turn," the officer interrupted Ethan at once.
Ethan nodded, understanding that he understood.
"I’m sorry about your loss, Miss," he turned to Nina and said.
Nina only gave a slight nod in response, and it was Ethan who had managed to say a word.
"Thank you, officer. Can we go now please?" Ethan then asked.
"No... Atlanta as you say is your destination, is a city full of the dead now. If you go there... You’ll die."
"As the Special Force of the Georgian State Government, it’s our duty to protect every survivor within the state.
That’s why the Georgian State Government has created safe zones across different areas in the state. The Refuges."
Ethan jaw dropped at once the moment he heard that...
Atlanta is already a city of the dead?
He was finding it very hard to believe that, because he couldn’t accept that he had lost his family.
He couldn’t get that into his head much even consider it...
"Does that mean... Everyone in Atlanta is dead?" Ethan asked with dark glints appearing on the corner of his eyes.
The officer gave him a shap stare.
At that point he seemed to understand that there might be someone dearest to him that was in Atlanta.
That was for sure, because the look on his face had said it all.
"We are not sure about that, kid. But we are still making more searches and investigations about safe zones and survivor," the officer replied.
"But for now, you would have to come with us to the nearest Refuge. This is where you would be safe until the monsters are completely eliminated," the officer added.
Ethan glared, and turning to the resof the group, he could notice that they weren’t okay with it as well.
They were all longing for Atlanta, because they needed to meet their families.
Now, the Special Force was already depriving them if that?
Only Helen wasn’t having a negative reaction to that.
"But sir... We want to get to Atlanta to see for ourselves. We have families, friends... Our homes. We believe our loved ones are somewhere safe and are hoping we get back to them. We really want to go home," Eva suddenly spoke up.
And with that morale shown, the rest of them suddenly had the courage to speak as well.
"We believe in ourselves sir. We have been the only survivors in New Land University, and we have gotten to understand the concepts of survival. We can get to Atlanta safely and get back if we can’t find our families," Gracie said.
"Just let us go, sir. We’d be fine," Teresa them added.
The officer stood for a moment, gathering every word they said in his head. Every point, every complaint brought a bit of decision and consideration, but in the end he was still trying to stand by the principles of his job.
He tried... He really did.
Ethan spotted him finding it hard to stand by the rules, but then he did.
It was then that their faces completely turned dark.
"I’m sorry, kids. But I can’t let you get to Atlanta... For now," he said.
"Why?! We begged you to consider us! We need to get there or else we might get our op families worried!!!" Mella shouted, completely pissed and frustrated.
"Please, officer. My husband and kids lives in Atlanta, and I believe they need me now. Please I need to get to them. I beg you," Miss Audrey came up, and while she wasn’t entirely looking like a student, the officer didn’t notice much like he did when he saw Nina.
"I’m sorry... Deeply."
The officer said as he slowly walked away, and some other men approached them from the near distance.
"YOU ARE URGED TO STEP DOWN FROM THE VAN. ONE BY ONE. YOUR HANDS ABOVE YOUR HEAD. YOUR EYES DOWN! ANY DISOBEDIENCE WOULD RESULT TO HARD TREATMENT!"
One of the men commanded with a microphone as the officers got to work at once.
They were being led out of the van and were forwarded to the army van.
Ethan’s face was painted in rage, anger, frustration, and confusion.
First, the government tried to kill them without making a vital investigation on if there were any survivors in the university, and now they were being deprived of freedom?
The more Ethan remembered that, the more got pissed, and at this point, he was afraid that this might delay his time of probably doing something to save mom and Eva.
’If anything should happen to them. I won’t let it slide!’ He shouted inwardly as he finally accepted defeat, entering the van that soon zoomed off when they were all in.
Meanwhile, the last van which was to accommodate, Nina, Helen, Mella and Teresa was still on the scene. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Nina was the last figure to get in, but then unexpectedly, what she did was not what they had expected.
At that point when she had reached the door, Nina suddenly moved, swiftly, hitting the officer that was leading her on the belly with her left leg.
"Argh!"
And at once, she turned and delivered a striking punch on his face, sending him to fall to the side at once.
Oportuned enough to make a move, she suddenly dashed away and made her way into the woods.
A few officers aimed at her to shoot, but the commander raised his hand and ordered them to stop.
"Don’t. Let her go... She would surely come around," he said with a smile, and they drove off right after.
Ethan soon noticed that something bad happened behind them. Precisely, he had seen Nina sprinting into the woods, and it didn’t seem funny at all.
He was trying to hard not to judge that she wanted to leave them, because it would end up hurting his brains at once.
He didn’t know what her plans are, but he knew for sure that there must be a reason for her to have tried escaping.
All through the journey, Ethan wasn’t in the heat of moods.
However, he had nothing to do at that point, resisting every urge to do the same.
Once he considered it, he remembered that every lady here was his to protect. They were his Girlfriends, and leaving them would result to disaster.
He decided to stay calm and see what the Special Force could bring.
After over two hours, they arrived at the Refuge.
A large compound surrounded by a considerable number of people, different temporary structured buildings and a good number of Special Force officers walking around.
There were quite a lot of them, which revealed that this place could be strictly governed.
Ethan didn’t expect less from a place like this, but for now, that wasn’t much of a problem for him.
They were all led to the entrance, which when they did, a man on black T-shirt calmly welcomed them with a smile on his face.
"Welcome to Refuge Six, youngsters! You are safe now."
