Summoned to a Fantasy World With a Modern Military System-Chapter 79: What to do?
They crossed over the monster's chest before they formed a fleshy and living shield that completely blocked all the incoming bullets.
However, that didn't stop Allen from firing. The stream of bullets now hammered into the tentacles instead. The 5.56mm rounds were powerful and didn't just bounce off and they dug into the thick and black flesh and ripped into the muscle. Dark, oily blood spurted from dozens of new holes.
But that was it. The bullets went in and the tentacles just... took it. They were just thick and solid masses of flesh and muscle. There were no bones to break neither were there any vital organs to hit. They just soaked up the damage while they kept twitching and blocking.
No matter how many bullets lodged inside them, it didn't hinder their movement much.
But Allen wasn't going to back down. He had an assault rifle on full auto and he had already purchased enough ammo to back himself up.
There was no way he was going to stop now. He kept his finger locked on the trigger as the bullets kept raining down. They hammered the same spots again and again and the tentacles slowly started becoming a mess and turning into swiss cheese.
This was the opening. The tentacles were busy and were locked in one place while absorbing the bullet storm. Realizing this moment Luna didn't hesitate for even a second before she threw her sword in the air.
It flew straight up in a golden streak into the dark sky, going high above the monster's head. As the sword reached its peak she swapped with it and appeared in the air, twenty feet above the monster.
She was looking straight down at its deformed and swollen head. Wasting no time the golden sword vanished from the ground and reappeared in her hands in mid-air within a few seconds.
She was falling with a trajectory that was perfectly aligned to chop off the monster's head in a single clean strike. She gripped the sword with both hands as she aimed the glowing golden blade right at the creature's neck.
However, before she could connect she saw some movement. The monster's whole body wriggled before it let out that strange, vibrating shriek again. The sound rattled her bones even in mid-air and without any warning a third tentacle suddenly burst out from its body.
It came from the same bloody hole in its chest. It shot upwards, faster than her falling speed and before she could react, it wrapped itself tightly around her left leg.
Her attack stopped instantly and her mobility was gone. She was trapped and hung in the middle of the air with nowhere to go.
It flew through the air while trailing black blood behind it like a comet and stopped right next to Luna who was standing twenty meters away safely. She was panting heavily but she was alive.
She grabbed the hilt of the weapon and locked her furious eyes on the beast.
The monster raged at the trick and its body convulsed with yellow pus dripping from its torn chest around the tentacles.
It focused all of its attention on Luna and ignored everything else. It turned toward her frantically and its eyeless head bobbed with pure hate.
It wanted to kill the thing that may hurt its survival.
Luna didn't back down for a second though. She gripped the sword's hilt gently and launched herself toward the monster.
Her silver hair fluttered in the golden light from the burning camp as she closed the distance in an instant and swung her sword with insane agility.
A tentacle whipped out to stop her but she didn't dodge this time. The blade scraped against the black flesh and sparks flew into the air as she deflected the attack and kept moving forward to find an opening.
Allen watched the chaotic scene from the side. He saw the monster turn its back slightly to focus entirely on her making him realize that its side was open and exposed to him. He could see the chest cavity and the gory hole where the tentacles emerged from its body.
It was the only weak spot he could see.
Not wasting a single second he raised the M4 Carbine already in his hands. He snapped the stock against his shoulder and looked through the iron sights while his night vision goggles made the monster glow a sickly green in his vision.
He squeezed the trigger without hesitation and a deafening roar ripped through the night as the rifle fired on full auto once again.
The gun bucked in his hands and hot brass casings flew out the side. The bullets tore through the air and slammed into the monster's open torso, but they didn't hit the armored tentacles this time around.
Rather they hit the wet and exposed flesh of the chest cavity directly. The bullets drilled themselves deep inside the body as they ripped through the soft meat and tore into the vital organs inside. Chunks of flesh flew into the air and dark thick blood spurted out.
The monster shrieked again in pain. It was a sound of pure agony that vibrated through the ground. It tried to turn toward the source of the pain to kill it as it sensed the damage coming from Allen and knew he was the one hurting it.
It tried to swing its head toward him and bring a tentacle around to block but it couldn't manage to do it. Luna wouldn't let it look away.
She was relentless in her assault and didn't give it a single chance to pull its focus away from her as she relentlessly engaged him.
She attacked from the left and slashed at its legs to slow it down. Every time the monster tried to look at Allen she was there to cut it. She forced it to defend itself and keep its guard up constantly.
If it ignored her for even a second then that would be more than enough time for her to deliver severe damage to the monster. And from the look of things, it seemed like it knew that as well.
A mindless monster it may be, even the most insignificant creatures develop the sense to realize and know when their life is in danger.
The monster was now suddenly trapped between the two of them. It was stuck between a constant barrage of bullets and never ending cuts from a sword.
It roared in frustration, letting out violent vibrations in the air while its tentacles moved faster in response. They were a blur of motion as they whipped around wildly in the air. They blocked Luna's sword and smashed the ground near her feet to keep her back.
Allen kept an eye on all this mess through his goggles with wide eyes. The scene before him was a chaotic mess of green and white light flashes.
The monster was fast, in fact it was terrifyingly fast for something that size. Its tentacles moved at speeds that matched Luna's movements perfectly. They were just black streaks for his eyes and he couldn't even track them properly.
His eyes couldn't keep up with the movement no matter how hard he tried. This was a level of physical combat way beyond him and he was aware of this more than anyone else.
If he had been down there he would be dead in a second. He wouldn't last a moment against that speed and raw power. There's simply no possible way he would be able to dodge those attacks because he wouldn't even be able to see them coming.
Well, this much is to be expected I guess. He thought to himself, his finger still on the trigger with the continuous fire of the M4 raging upon the monster.
This is a different world after all and it only makes sense that physically my body is not made to survive in this environment. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to know that the children here are physically stronger than me.
I mean, there's no fucking way to explain that speed of movement with just your muscles exerting force. Other than of course, magic. Not that I really know what exactly it is or how it works.
Still, this isn't really a thing to be worried about or stay down about to be honest. After all, the way I fight is entirely different down to its cores.
If things are right then I'm supposed to be standing in a safe place and giving out orders, completely away from the dangers of these superhuman monsters.
If things come to a point where I have to physically go into battle then it means I've already lost—
He suddenly stopped his line of thought, or was rather forced to stop it when he realized just what the hell he had been thinking.
As the reality of his surroundings become clear to him, he realized that he had in fact, been physically standing on the battlefield. It has been that way ever since he came to this world.
Well, it does take some time to get to the commander rank…
